I will said the best outcome of RE 5 would be to pull a black panther and make a heavy black cast game with little white involment.

but that means removing Chris and wester of the ocasion.

Capcom was never going to do that either, especially not in the mid 2000's when RE 5 came out.

I'd argue the better option would have been just to have Sheva not disappear from the gameline afterward.

What else were they supposed to do with her? Her story was done and she was already controversial because of the game she appeared in.

They were half pretending Sheva didn't exist before they were even done with 5. The Gold Edition cover only has Chris and Jill on it and none of the DLC aside from some of the Mercenary costumes lets you play as Sheva at any point.

She's probably never going to show up again, but to be fair to her and Capcom, that's true of around half the supporting protagonists they've introduced since 3.

I'm not seeing the problem with Sheva Alomar & quite frankly the whole thing racism with RE 5 is still incredibly stupid to this day.

Normally I wouldn't give Capcom the benefit of the doubt recently but after Resident Evil Revelation 2 & Vendetta, I just wouldn't be surprise to see him. Of course, I'm pretty sure they'll do something stupid with him.

Resident Evil 8, staring Billy, Shera, and Carlos. The main villain is Steve and the Ada role is played by HUNK.

Rebecca Chambers, Helena, and Barry will have Resident Evil 9 all to themselves.

Steve is dead and there's nothing anyone can do about it..

Wesker was dead and we all saw how well that ended. Plus Code Veronica X had that extra scene where Wesker stole his body and taunted about how Claire might see Steve again one day.

EDIT: I also forgot a character who survived and was never seen again. D.I.J, the diary-keeping mouse from Code Veronica who escaped on Wesker's submarine. I legit forgot he was a thing until I checked the trope page.

Apropos Resident Evil 4 - anyone else hoping the Merchant makes a comeback at some point.

I really want to know what his story is, considering he's a British bloke who's pretty cordial to the player, despite showing signs of Las Plagas infestation himself.

The Merchant is Ada in disguise doing her favorite activity of trolling Leon.

What, don't believe me? Here's proof!

I want to buy the RE 2 remake but I'm worried. It seems kind of dour and boring with none of the camp charm of the original game.

Soble Since: Dec, 2013
#970: Jan 7th 2019 at 4:36:08 PM

They're probably making this remake to try and throw out what didn't work in the original and to make it an effective, terrifying experience for modern gamers. If the camp charm of the original is what grabbed you then it probably isn't going to be worth buying.

I'd say go with your gut. Just don't make the decision based off of what the reviews say, or go and drop 60 bucks on it out of brand loyalty.

The real tipping point for me is whether Capcom lives up to that old EGM article and makes Akuma a playable character.

Making a dark and serious story seems to be the point of the RE 2 remake and appears to be the general direction of the series now if RE 7 is any indication. Personally I'm on board with that but if the campiness is what you enjoyed about RE 2 then the remake probably isn't going to be for you.

RE 7 the game where the zombie hillbilly quotes Evil Dead.

Resident Evil isn't serious. The best game in the series is about rescuing the president's daughter from the most inept villains in the universe. Camp is a core part of the series identity, even previously darkest game in the series, the Resident Evil Remake.

I may or may not have brought this up in this thread before (I may have brought it up on another forum in fact), but I'd like to see Jill and Claire star together in a game.

If you count that non canon gameboy game, even Leon and Barry have been in a game together, but Jill and Claire have apparently never met on screen.
