1 million yen sounds like a good amount of money but it translates to $10k which is still a lot but not the be all end all.
Oh good. It wasn't just me. I have trouble telling sometimes given I've got Yuri Goggles surgically implanted.
Yeah, those two were definitely suspicious. X)
@RedSavant: Speaking of baseball, that was one hell of a home run. >.> I wouldn't mind a second season with Shirase aiming for the Koushien. But I get what you mean. Sometimes you don't need to write it in big neon letters to make things clear, and this approach probably fits this show better.

I loved how Takako's last (unsent) email to Shirase was about how the Aurora Australis was ten thousand times more beautiful when seen personally—with the message finally being sent by Gin just as Shirase and her friends were viewing the aforementioned aurora from the deck of the Penguin Manju on their way home.
TL;DR: A beautiful show from start to end. Definitely worth five stars.
EDIT: Also, @TheLovecraftian: Any idea if they defictionalized Yuzuki's idol song? (The one being played on Dai's radio in episode 10.)

"Learn as if you will live forever, live as if you will die tomorrow."I didn't look. Do you know the name?
Listening to the OST right now. Surprise: it's fucking great. Who would have thunk. It's relaxing, it's funny, it's emotional, it's Yorimoi.
Also, I'm pretty sure the horror movie OST is ripped off from Jaws.

Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.I really need to buy the OS Ts for this and Yuru Camp. My storage space is limited but I really want to put my money where my mouth is.
It's been fun.Had to take a look at the last episode again (specifically, the scene where Dai finally asks for Yuzuki's autograph with some prodding from Toshio), but all I could get was the name of Yuzuki's album:
"The Follow Backs Won't Stop" (not sure what the corresponding name is in the original Japanese).
Dunno if that's also the name of the song being played on Dai's radio back in episode 10.

"Learn as if you will live forever, live as if you will die tomorrow."I can't seem to find it, not with that name. It's conflicting with episode 3, which has the same name. I also went to the episode to hear it, and haven't found anything similar yet, though I haven't got the OST as of this moment.
If you want my suggestion, go to the OST. If they made it real, it's probably there.
Yeah, if there is a full release song of that name I can't find it past the episode.
It's been fun.So.
This is a lot of reaffirming what we've said over the last few days, but it's still a good one to watch.
I'm surprised he held back on specifying "watch it on Crunchyroll."
Some songs being played several times didn't really bother me. It rather reinforced the sense of familiarity, if anything.
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.Talk about Doing It for the Art… I'm surprised they didn't use rotoscopy or motion capture at this point.
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo. What difference? They just played each clip twice!
Seriously tho, this is a staggering attention to detail shown, and they even resisted the urge to dramatize things too much. I'm really impressed.
This show really had a great amount of love and effort put into it including in making it as realistic as it could be. Just about the only difference between the expedition in the series and in real life is the lack of, ehm.... fraternization that apparently happens on those expeditions. >_>
So I just finished rewatching this and while I wasn't fully convinced the first time around I'm now comfortable saying that this the best anime I've seen.
The fact that it was almost flawless watching it as it arrived out it in very select company already; the fact ythat I felt compelled to rewatch it only 4 months later and found the experience equal to or better then the first knocks it out of the park as capably as Shirase with Gin's pitch.
Even now I can't really say why the series is so good; the closest I've been able to articulate even in my own mind is that it's like a crystalization of humanity. It takes everything it is to be human; family, friendship, longing, grief, fear, anxiety, everything, the good and the bad; wraps it around the ever present desire to find out what's over that next hill and distills it to it's purest form.
Reading what I just typed I know it makes no sense, there's plenty to being human the show never approaches touching on. Nonetheless I think it comes closest to why I find the show so captivating; the writers managed to capture the essence of what I think it is to be human to a degree I've never seen elsewhere.
What you wrote makes more sense than you give yourself credit for. For my money, this show captures raw, wonderful human emotions better than a lot of others. The excitement of youth and adventure, the self-doubt of whether you will find what you want in your success, the raw sadness and catharsis of episode 12 that still get me tearing up almost six months after I first saw it. It's a very human show, aided by excellent writing and directing. I won't say this is my favorite anime ever, but it is in the third spot. This is a fabulous show, and absolutely one of the best anime ever made.
Hey, remember that scene at the end of episode 12 that reduced half of the world's population to a sobbing mess? They made a Nendroid figurine out of it.
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo. It's missing the other three with crying poses.
Crunchyroll recently did an interview with the director of A Place Further than the Universe, which revealed some intersting things. like the fact that they designed every episode to be like the final episode, intended to end in either tears or laughter
Bumbleby is best ship. busy spending time on r/RWBY and r/anime. Unapologetic Socialist
I mean, fair enough, but she earned the money with her desire to get there and resolve her feelings for Antarctica. She was entirely willing to spend it all to get there; the money was to be spent to find her closure, and in a sense it was.
If anything, she could have kept it to get a head start on school tuition or something... but I don't think she owes it to anyone else.
It's been fun.
