Speaking of China, there is a Chinese New Years poster for the film.

Man, got real wild mass guess here.

Anyway, regarding "people can't tell if the X-Men are in the MCU" that's... entirely true. But those people are generally the ones who don't know the difference or similarities between studios.

I feel like, us being a site specifically about media, we forget about how Jonny Moviegoer doesn't know all this stuff down pat. For someone to know "X-Men is Marvel" but not know "X-Men isn't MCU" requires a weirdly specific amount of knowledge.

Frankly, it is actually more likely that a lot of those don't know which characters are Marvel and which ones are DC than not knowing which movie belongs to which movie franchise.

It's not that specific. Like, a few minutes of googling will tell you that. Though I accept some people won't do those few minutes of googling.

It's pretty specific because they have to know enough to know that they're the same comics brand, but not enough to know they're made by separate studios and separate universes. That's a narrow needle to thread, especially if you're suggesting they'd Google it and not find out about them being separate universes.

[up] Not really...Ie to recognize that Captain Marvel belongs into the MCU, you only have to recognize Nick Fury in the trailer.

In the beginning it was different. I had no idea that Iron-man and Thor had anything to do with each other. But after the Avengers, I did know. Now it is a pretty easy "this is a character I have seen before" connected with the MCU logo - which, I remind you, looks by now different from the standard Marvel logo.

Remember, these characters have appeared alongside each other in other media for decades. There was a 90s animated shared universe where the X-Men crossed over with Spider-Man a couple of times. Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Fanastic Four also appeared on the show.

[up] Do you really think that the general audience has seen more than whatever handful of cartoon shows were on air when they had the right age? If any at all if they are living in a country in which children entertainment is structured differently. And then you expect them to remember which animated character was in which show?

[up][up] Yeah, I grew up watching those and remained a huge comic fan and those crossovers didn't stick to me enough that I remember them. I don't think they're ingrained in the public consciousness as you think.

[up][up]

Marvel cartoon shows have been around for decades and all of them featured crossovers. Pretty much everyone knows about Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, which had Iceman as a main character. The show even had the rest of the X-Men guess starring.

The iconic live-action Hulk series from the 70s also featured Daredevil and Thor in the TV movies.

EDIT: My grammar was really bad here.

I'm sorry, we don't bring up those crossovers, because they were deeply stupid. (God, the Thor one was terrible.)

I have a vague memory of watching the Daredevil one at one point and liking it...but then, I was just a child and it was easier to impress me.

So it seems Olivia Munn will not be reprising her role as Psylocke:

https://comicbook.com/marvel/2019/02/12/x-men-dark-phoenix-olivia-munn-role-explain/

I mean, I don't hate Munn as much as a lot of other people do, but this doesn't seem like any great loss.

She was pretty to look at in Apocalypse and got in a couple of badass shots in the climactic battle, but that's about it

I guess, after a night of pillaging and raping, a Viking wants a little something to go with his cocoa.

Guessing Selene replaces Psylocke as Magneto's henchwoman.

I thought Munn did quite well with what she was given. Which was, you know, absolutely nothing.

Nothing of value was lost, but that's not on Munn's shoulders at all.

... huh. Jubilee, Psylocke, original Psylocke, Lady Deathstrike, Blink... there's a lot of They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character for Asian women in the series. Almost like they had to make up for The Wolverine having two in lead roles.

I mean, it's Lots And Lots Of Characters it might be difficult to avoid (and again, TW did avoid it quite well), but it's interesting.

I went from "wow, this movie looks average. Why does it look so average?" to "what the actual hell is going on jesus just let the movie come out." Weird how things change.

I heard from an anonymous source that the outcome of the latest test screening was to change the ending, again.

I’ll take it with a gain of salt until/if it is announced.

He/she also said that the alleged test screening around the holidays was bogus as well.

It's kinda hilarious that they're really upfront about Mystique dying in this one. I guess JLAW isn't as much of a draw as she was in 2016.

I found it hilarious that Jean has more to do in this trailer than she did in X3.
