If you believe whats being said in the Winter 2018 its because its Trigger's answer to Evangelion.

Pretty confusing so far but 02 is fun. Don't really care about everyone else yet though.
The first chapter for the manga is out.
Yabuki is using his talents from To Love-Ru well for Darling in the FRANXX.
And if her story has the same level of emotional payoff as Anemone's, I'd consider the show a success. But that's a pretty high par, in my opinion.
@Hylarn: Because he’s a death-cult member taking the first, tiny steps towards deprogramming himself, so him not being cool with his life in general is likely to be pretty central to the story.
What's precedent ever done for us?I'm not saying that Hiro is unimportant, I just found it odd that the promotional material downplayed the action/sci-fi elements in favour of the drama/philosophical ones, which is pretty much the exact opposite of how this normally goes
Hiro is really boring, but everything else looks fun.
First episode was pretty fun, but I don't feel there's really anything that hasn't been done before here. 02 was definitely the most interesting part. Hiro could be interesting depending on how his arc is handled.
I was a bit annoyed at the show throwing a ton of jargon at us without explaining any of it, but that'll be for later I assume. The names are a bit… random though. FranXX? Klaxosaur?
Also, this is a contender for stupidest title of the season. >.>

Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.Do notice that the female pilots have X-symbols on their uniforms, while the male ones have Y-symbols. And of course the Fem Bot mecha are called FranXX.

What's precedent ever done for us?The show....is dope.
I wrote slightly more detailed thoughts on the Studio TRIGGER Discord server (DM me if you'd like an invite incidentally), and here◊ is a copy of those.

it's either real or it's a dream there's nothing that is in betweenI dug the first episode. Hoping that Hiro doesn't go full on into Amuro/Shinji mode and waffle on his feelings every episode.
Man, those metaphors are pretty blunt. And I do wonder if the masked society of adults who use brainwashed child soldiers they literally call Parasite, might be a bit shady.
02 is so weird... in a good way. I can already tell she's going to top so many best girl lists this year.
Did Hiro power the Franxx with his boner? o_O
The visual design is on point. Some big KLK influences during the transformation scene,
The most genuinely clever thing are the names: Code:016 - Hiro (hitotsu =1, roku = 6)
Code:703 - Naomi (nana = 7, 'o' sound = 0, mitsu = 3)
Code:015 - Ichigo (ichi = 1, go = 5)
Code:056 - Goro (go = 5, roku = 6)
By this method 02 would translate as... Oni.
…Damnit, how did I not notice that?!
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.I caught it. I also though they might go with Reini or something like that.
I just stumbled across this and watched the first episode.
The Evangelion vibes are strong, but it definitely has it's own flavor to it. It's hard to know what to think of it given that so little of what's going on is really explained, but like Lyen said I'm assuming later episodes will fill some of those gaps in. It's definitely fun to watch, and there's a lot of potential in what we've seen of the cast. Hopefully it doesn't fall victim to "the protagonist is the most annoying character'' syndrome.
It does have an incredibly silly name though. Not the silliest, but it's up there.

Reaction Image RepositoryI know this has been stated before, but Zero Two's character design is pretty much Nonon Jakuzure.
She is therefore going to be best girl, without a doubt.
Isn't Oni clearly the intended pun tho?
Do notice that Zero-Two is very obviously a blend of NGE’s two main heroines. 002 is Rei-02 (as in, Unit 02). Her hair is pink (as in, halfway between red and white). She’s a cocky, aggressive Half-Human Hybrid with No Nudity Taboo, a fondness for storybook romance, and no sense of self-preservation.
Also, there’s the Lum references (magical horned girl who latches onto her ‘Darling’), but I’m not sure how deep those go compared to all the really obvious Evsngelion references.
What's precedent ever done for us?Decided to give this a try. Didn't like the named character death right in the first episode, but overall opinion is positive.
Wait, are we sure that Naomi is dead?
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo. That ball vehicle of hers got crushed pretty good. Also, she clearly just there because they needed someone to be Hiro previous failed partner.
Well, Never Found the Body is in full effect, so I'd still view it as possible. With only one episode's worth of content to go off of it's hard to know if this is the type of show to bring back a character after something like that. I feel like if nothing else the ambiguity is intentional; if they wanted it to be clear that she's 100% dead they'd probably have shown her being crushed or something.
Also, anybody else wondering what the deal with the Klaxosaurs is? It seems pretty clear that they're some sort of robot, which raises the question of who's making these things and why.
Though honestly what I want to know most at this point is just some more information about how society functions so that I have some context for all the stuff being thrown around.

Reaction Image RepositoryI say there's like 90% chance that the adults are the real villains.
Much more fun than I'd expected. Why was the promotional material focusing on Hiro's whining when it has interesting stuff in it?
