Hope for Tomorrow: The Roleplay

KEU Garden Plaza

For all of the things that the future hero had expected to see today, a giant robot playing butler was not one of them. But not one to be thrown off by a bit of oddity Martin walked over to the massive machine with a spark of curiosity in his eyes. Maybe this was their first test, a unassuming robot who turned out to be some villain who would draw out the heroic spirit of all of the freshmen. However it didn't take long for the rational part of his mind to realize that the girl between the legs of the machine was most likely another hero, rather then a nervous looking villain.

"Greetings!" he called out, a bit overly loud toward the girl and her machine. "Are you a new student as well?" he offered his brightest smile, which despite the scarring on his face still managed to make his entire face light up. "If so my name is Paragon. Well I mean it will be, that is the name I want to use as a hero. You could also call me Martin, but regardless of what you call me its a pleasure to meet you!"

KEU Fountain

So many things happened at once, and the black haired girl felt her head spinning. She tripped, her glasses fell and gwaaah!

"Thank you! I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" she bowed again and again, taking her glasses back from the girl who had them. She bowed to everyone around her, keeping her face down, a furious blush there.

Oh, man, there were so many people around her, ah, they were all looking at her, ah!

"Um, I'm sorry to bother, um, all of you. Thank you for helping me, I'm sorry! Um, my name, ahh, Louisa!"

The girl wasn't just shy, she was terrified.

Meanwhile, where Jules was talking to Christopher, the shadows at their feet seemed...darker? There were no words to describe it, it churned like liquid, twisting and twirling.

And then....a hand, emerging from the black depths. Inky black and devoid of features, the hand grasped Christopher's ankles.

KEU.

"Anyway, um, I was hoping to get a seat and wait for things quiet down. Although by the looks of it, there's not much...places left to sit unless I ask someone to..." Christopher flinched, eyes going wide as the sudden...grip on his ankles.

Doing his best to keep his composure, with his ankles held, he wouldn't be able to stomp on whatever was...doing this. So with a nonchalant shrug of his shoulders, he let go of the suitcase he was holding with his right hand and let it drop near his feet.

...Whatever was trying to freak him out would be finding at least ten kilograms of weight crashing down on those 'wrists'/arms on the owner of these shadowy...hands.

KEU Plaza Fountain

The tall girl shouldered her bag and adjusted her long hair slightly against the breeze.

"It's my bad. I got excited, you know?" the tall girl said. "I'm Mariam, Mari for short. Don't mind the horns, I'm not a supervillain or anything!"

She glanced at her watch on the underside of her wrist.

"By the way, orientation is in an hour, right?"

"Nice to meet you too, Chris-", Jules began to say before she noticed the shadowy hand grabbing at his ankles. She was all-too familiar with who was doing that.

"Come on out and stop grabbing at people's ankles already.", she said to the shadow before Christopher began stomping on it. "Wait, stop! That's my sister's doing!"

The young woman was rather taken aback by the rather loud and hammy greeting, she had heard Americans were loud, and there hero louder but it had yet to click to click for her what that meant, well until now at-least. In response she rather quickly produced a small thin box from her supplies, opened up the tab on it and took out a card from it, putting the card on the box, and closing it back up. She then quickly bowed for him, before offering the card in her hands.

"My name is Nagishiro Suzu, Representative of Onmyo Robotics, and bestowed with the title Yamato", she quietly replied to him, trying her best to avoid looking directly at him, but honestly failing quite awkwardly with how attention grabbing he was. "I am a new student here yes, part of the hero exchange program, and it is a pleasure to meet you too" she finished.

KEU Fountain

Louisa gulped nervously, but managed to raise her head so that she was giving Mariam some eye contact.

"U-um, yes, that's right. Seven in the morning, at the auditorium."

She pointed at a one storey building in the distance, sitting near a lake.

"It's um, over there."

"Although, knowing Grandpapa, he might show up early..." she mumbled to herself.

KEU: Jules and Christopher

"Hey, oww, what the actual hell, you arse? That thing is heavy!"

A feminine growl came from the shadows. The hand immediately let go of the boy's ankles and the shadows pooled again.

Then, emerging quickly was...is that a person? Or simply the outline of one? Simply put, it was a living shadow shaped like a young woman, glowing bright green eyes the only thing not solid black.

"I was looking for my sister. I didn't know someone else would be here." the shadow growled.

"You tried to screw with him, Ree, what did you think was going to happen?", Jules said as she sighed and shook her head. "You okay though, sis?"

Sept. 1, 2115, 6:00 AM, KEU Fountain

Many students loitered around the Miracle Fountain. And while more than a few were taking the time to show off or get to know one another, there were a handful who preferred to stick around the edges. They chose to sit on the benches, preferably away from the rising sun and the hubbub. Some dozed, others went over their belongings, texted family members, all manner of small activities.

Bags by his feet and dressed in the white KEU blazer over a grey shirt and slacks, Bayard Kahn reached into the breast pocket and unfolded a letter. Upon it was sealed the cup and dice logo of his sponsors. He wondered about the apparent dramatic significance.

Unfolding it, he could make out the neat script of his father.

To Bay, it read. It amazes us that you got this far and learned so much. But now you're on your own and we can't help but worry. We do regret that you never had much of a normal life, but now you have a chance at that. Whatever happens in your time at the KEU, your mother and I are very proud of you. You are our baby boy and all of us, from the lab boys to the kitchen staff, will be watching over you and whatever your future will hold.

Love, your mom and dad. The letter was heavier than folded paper should've been due to the credit card with his name upon it.

PS; said a post script. Don't spend it all at once. There was a drawn heart in his mother's unmistakable doodle and he couldn't help the smile upon his placid face. Bay brushed one of his sandy-brown bangs and put the letter in his wallet. With nothing else to do, seeing as he'd never been too fond of kids roughly his age, he pulled out a couple of earbuds and the soothing sound of New Orleans jazz could be heard piped into his ears.

KEU.

Christopher's sunglasses shimmered for a slight moment as the young man raised an eyebrow at the somewhat anxious Jules. "...I'm barely doing a thing. If anything, she's the one making a poor firs-" The young man was cut off as the shadows retreated and a rather vulgar more humanoid one had taken it's place.

"Simply asking around would've sufficed. Acting like a villainess of the night, trying to inspire terror into people in her way is, well, as you saw, shining and righteous retribution isn't something to be trifled with." The young man quickly retorted, sounding a little dramatic as he confidently picked up his suit case with a bit of flair that he seemed to sparkle a tiny bit.

"...I do apologize for being quick to judge, however. But considering the heels of my shoes, the suitcase was the lesser of the two evils."

"Yeah... That old coot sure does have a habit of being early doesn't he...? If I had taken that into account I wouldn't be in this mess..." Neil grumbled as he made motions of dusting off his school skirt. "By the way." He said as he strolled over to Louisa and handed her wallet to her. "You dropped this."

KEU Garden Plaza

It was blatantly apparent that the girl had been uncomfortable with his greeting, leading him to rethink his approach for such people in the future. It was apparent that she was at least shy, something he should have noticed before just barging in. Part of him wanted to apologize, but it seemed to him that doing such an act after she had introduced herself would only lead to a sense of further awkwardness. Instead he would blaze ahead and make up for his faux pas at a later date. For now he would just endeavor to act kindly. "Welcome Yamoto, I am not much for robotics but if you ever require assistance I will be happy to aid you."

Deciding that he needed to 'dim' himself a bit as to not come off too strong Martin relaxed himself and turned down his 'cheerful as a song' smile to a more natural resting grin. "I apologize if I came off a bit strong. I'm actually a bit nervous about making a good first impression, and when I get nervous I tend to charge through without thinking. I hope you can forgive me if I startled you."

Amongst the students was a fairly short boy with blue hair.

Unlike some of the others, he didn't look completely lost.

But to be honest, he was.

He noticed that there were a few students around the fountain.

Might as well go and meet his new classmates.

He casually jogged over to them.

"So, what's going on here? Two minutes and already college drama?"

His voice was slightly distorted and gravelly, a minor side-effect of using his Gift.

KEU Garden Plaza > Fountain

A hulking giant entered the school plaza garden, wearing a simple red t-shirt and white jeans. Wearing wirelress ear plugs on his ears and carrying on his back an ultramarine blue bag that looked nearly as large as him, and behind it on his back was a big grey guitar case strapped on him. A very very very small minority might recognize him as what became of Bas Bove, the past bassist of The Chargers a small up-and coming Rock band based in New York, but probability suggests nobody knew who he was, seeing as he just signed his contracts with his sponsors and from there took the 3 and half hour long flight from New York City straight to New Hope's Airport in Oregon, he only now arrived in the campus. The way he walked slowly, very slightly swaying from side to side suggested he was either drunk or very very tired, by the way he closed his eyes a bit every now and then, it could be guessed that he was, in fact, awake since yesterday.

Being near the fountain crowd, he shook up his face and gained a slight amount of alertness, trying to look less ridiculous and drunk. He looked surprised, finally taking in his surroundings he was astounded by the amount of Gifted in the area, being used to NYC, a city with a below average ratio of Gifted to non-Gifted relatively to other cities. He kept on walking towards the fountain. It was hard not to notice the humongous figure walking by, especially since they would notice, as he walked by Yamato and her robot that he even slightly toppled the mech butler in size, his form was certainly something to look at, featuring large horns on his head and a snout like the face of a cow. Although he tried to become more awake, ultimately he thought he was too tired for social interactions, which is why he ignored the other freshmen and instead chose to chose to search for a place to sit.

Mid searching he noticed a man trying to introduce himself to the crowd only to not even be slightly noticed. Taking a bit of sympathy on him, he decided to walk over to Daniel and take out the ear plugs and introduced himself with a smile, giving him a warm friendly aura despite his tall silhouette. He spoke with a deep bass voice.

"Heya, I'm Basilio Bove, call me Bas, new freshman here at KEU, and you are?"

KEU Garden Plaza

"No.... No your fine" Suzu replied to him noting that it did not seem like he was interested in the card either, she made a note of this for later, "I am just new here, and.. ummm to be honest I don't have much of an idea of what I am doing" she finished with a small nod. This processed for a few seconds in her head before she realized that her statement could be taken out of context, causing her to clarify, "By which I mean socially, ummmm not here, I know what I am doing here", although just seemed to cause her to get a bit more flusterated with herself and caused her to sway side to side. The giant robot next to her however? Didn't really seem like it was doing much of any thing this entire time, in fact while she was distracted awkwardly trying to engage in socialization the bulky machine seemed to have become a statue more then any thing.

Finding himself in the all-too familiar situation of being outright ignored, Daniel muttered "Nice to meet you too" as he turned on his heel and began to walk off and back to where he'd planted himself before. Time to go back to being a broody asshole I guess, thought Daniel just before he found himself face to face with what appeared to be a minotaur. Not noticing that Bas had made a friendly introduction, Daniel instinctively reached inside his jacked and began to draw both of his pistols before finally comprehending that Bas, was in fact, being friendly.

Taking a deep breath, Daniel released his grip on both revolvers before attempting a smile and responding "Uh, my name's Daniel. But I guess you can call me Dan, or Danny. I've had other nicknames but they're, kinda, less pleasant."

After an extended and awkward pause as Daniel tried to think of something to talk about other than the fact that he was staring a minotaur in the face, the young man said "So, you, uh play guitar?"

-KEU-

The first thought that came into Alex's mind when he saw the minotaur was not a normal one.

To be specific, it was "How does he get dressed?"

That question could come later on.

He walked over to them, noticing that the minotaur was talking to another freshman.

"Say, you seem like a... friendly face. I'm Alex Selby. Nice to meet you."

He extended his hand to shake.

"Both of you." he added as an afterthought.

KEU Fountain

Louisa very nervously took her wallet from Neil, still blushing furiously. Ah, he heard her mumble, oh no...

"Ah, I must have dropped it, I'm so sorry!"

And then what he actually said hit her like a brick to the face.

Her eyes widened in realization and she started bowing rapidly again.

"Oh no! You're Neil, right? Grandpapa told me to look after you! I was supposed to make sure you didn't feel lost, I'm so sorry!"

KEU: With Jules and Christopher

The shadowy girl looked at Christopher like she couldn't believe him. One could tell that if she had eyebrows, she would have raised them.

"Is this guy for real?" She grumbled.

She then shrugged and turned to look at Jules.

"I'm fine, sis. The meatsack's back in the car, I just wanted to go ahead and check things out first. I'll meet you in the flesh soon."

She looked back at Christopher.

"Anyway, I'm Serena. Think it might be polite to introduce myself properly."

Somewhere that is presumably on the campus grounds

Quietly shifting away from Bas as Alex approached, Daniel took a moment before extending his hand and shaking firmly, all while saying "I'm Daniel. You can call me Dan, or Danny. I guess."

-KEU-

Alex nodded.

"Nice to meet you, Danny. So, who are you, big guy? You excited to become a new hero?"

To emphasize his point, he raised his arm, channelling neon white electricity through it.

KEU Fountain

"Stop apologizing. It's pathetic." The voice seemed to come from nowhere unless one were to look up at the fountain.

There, bundled up in what appeared to be a really big hoodie that could very well serve like a coat sat... a strange, dimunitive dwarf-like creature, its red eyes bright like flashlights and piercing right into Louisa. He was sat upon Miracle's statue's shoulder. "It's your, what, sixth apology in five minutes? Do criminals get that courtesy when you cuff them or what?"

"It's almost as pathetic as this little game show they're putting on." Though his face remained hidden under his baggy clothes, one could tell that this red-eyed dwarf loathed the spectacle. Another point to note was a monstrual red motorcycle parked by the fountain, likely belonging to the little dwarf, bizzare a thought this might have been.

KEU: With J & S.

Christopher tilted his head, ears twitching a tiny bit as he hesitantly removed his sunglasses, showing off a sparkling set of green eyes.

"I'm...quite serious. These shoes are all terrain. Spikes, fire, these pretty much crush anything flat if I was to exert the slightest amount of force." The young man quietly explained, giving a slightly nervous smile before cautiously offering his hand.

"Pleased to meet you, Miss Serena. I...don't know if you were overhearing the c-conversation I was having earlier, but, er, yes, introductions are in order and I'm...Christopher Xylion."

"Hm?"

Soma turned when the girl looked like she was going to strike up a conversation, most likely about his appearance, but he never got a chance to confirm as more people showed up, startling her. Soma just blinked while the resulting conversations carried on.

"Grandpa... You don't mean Mr Evans, do you?" Soma interjected, hiking a thumb towards the statue of Miracle in an attempt to confirm both Louisa and him were thinking of the statue subject's brother. Then he noticed the diminutive grumpy... Guy, he got a little eyeroll at the critique about the show before Soma added rhetorically "You realize this is about the worst place you could be bashing Hero TV, right?" and shaking his head as he returned his attention to Louisa and Neil

KEU Fountain

Louisa bowed down, a bitter expression on her face.

"I know I'm pathetic, you don't have to tell me." she whispered softly.

Then she looked up at the person on the statue defiantly.

"But that's disrespectful. Please get down from there. That's my Grandaunt's memorial."

She jumped a bit at Soma's words, but turned to him and answered.

"Y-yes. I am Louisa Evans."

KEU: Fighting Evil By Moonlight...

Serena's shadowy form shifted. She might have been smiling.

"Heh. So you're not as prissy as you look, pretty boy. I like you."

She shook his hand, the shadow feeling surprisingly solid.

"See you in meatspace, Chrissy."

With that, the shadowy girl once more vanished into the shadows at their feet.

Also sitting at the fountain is a very small young woman with blank teal eyes, rummaging through her bag, she stands up, pulls what seems to be a sandwich, then smooths out her long white shirt, one that seems too big for her.

"Hehe~. And if Ican eat this before orientation, I'll have enough energy to"- she whispers to herself just before...

CLANG!

She runs into a nearby wall or pillar, face first, sandwich flying out of her hand, leaving a very confused girl in its wake.

Oooooow...

I thought I pinged there thoooough...
