Valid question and boy-howdy, is this filled with natter and bitching. Opening.
Speaking as a Mod, I'd say first we go over it and scrub it hard, then see what, if anything is left. Example Sectionectomy may be necessary, but that's a drastic step.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I would like to ask if its okay for me to remove the subbullet on the first example on the Video Game subpage? Just in case the page isn't cut.
You can cut the whole "General" folder. We don't want "generic" examples; that is, "this happens a lot in <whatever>". We want specific examples: "This happened <here> at <this time>."
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Okay I removed the folder (and the folder markup since there were only 2 folders there)
Edit: I retract my previous position. Currently the main Discredited Meme page only lists examples that are either in-universe or acknowledged by creators; doing that with this trope, except with the entire trope and not just the main page, sounds like something that would hinder complaining and end up being less controversial, maybe.
Another edit: I'd like to expand on what I said about in-universe examples and add that I'd be OK with listing examples from works even if they aren't about those works, such as if a work about gaming referenced the opinions of fans of a game/series.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.I feel there should be a clean up effort to remove general examples and examples of people's personal pet peeves that don't annoy the majority of the fandom before deciding whether there should be an Example Sectionectomy or not. I feel it's too early to decide to take any drastic action.
True, I might have jumped to conclusions a bit too quickly. However, the regular Berserk Button trope doesn't allow real-life examples, and this trope's name implies a connection to that one.
Edit: Actually, I think my position would be that it would be better and less drastic to do what we currently do with the Discredited Meme page (only with the entire trope and not just the main page for it) and only allow examples that are either in-universe or acknowledged by the creators.
Another edit: I accidentally referred to Memetic Mutation's main page in my original edit. I meant Discredited Meme, which has such a notice before its example list.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.I guess we should make a single proposition crowner with the option being to disallow in-page examples.
I'd like a wick check to see how bad the complaining is throughout the site. If it's bad enough, a mere Example Sectionectomy won't be enough; we'll need to make it Flame Bait or move to Darth.

Is it really a good idea for this page to have examples? Other fandom terms like Base-Breaking Character don't have examples due to their inherently controversial nature, and I can never tell if the examples are legitimate or simply written by someone with an axe to grind. The petulant tone of the examples also remind me of the trope formerly known as They Just Didn't Care, which was renamed because people just used it as an excuse to grind axes.
