Now if we could just get funding for that dispatch center bordering the slums, you could work there just like your old man. Hell, with how quickly you've been studying you could very well become chief. A shame you'll be about as old as me before it ever gets built...

This incident may only be the beginning. Such events are estimated to increase in frequency and severity as the plague spreads. It is imperative that we halt and reverse its spread as soon as possible, but I must first insist that we establish some protocols.

*thinking for a brief moment, it flips its notebook and writes furiously, while simultaneously saying*

The number one protocol being: Nobody should travel alone for the duration of this mission.

Oh man...I'm so sorry. (Delilah says, stepping in front of Marsha, reaching out as though to give me a hug.) Is there anything I can do?

Thanks, but I don't know what you or Marsha can do. (I head back toward the beach, still reeling from what happened.)

Watching wordlessly as Jani goes, Finley quickly picks up Nyquil.

"... Can I be with Niles please?"

"Please Finley, take as much time as you need."

"We should get back to the Guild Hall first."

"...I guess I'm sticking with you, then..." [I pry myself off Marlon's chest and wipe my eyes...that was a little awkward but...necessary, it felt like it was...] sniff

"Wait, what?" Before I realized it, I was picked up and carried away.

I feel genuinely bad for Eliot.

"Come on Eliot, you can hop up on my back."

Still distraught, Finley carries Niles around like a handbag as she begins following the rest of the group.

( I look back at the rest of the group behind me. They seem to be heading a specific way together. I feel that I should stick with them instead of going to the beach and rejoin them.)

So what do we do now? (I ask as I walk back up.)

*Blissey, Excadrill, and Jani arrive at the hospital. Excadrill sets Jani down at the ground wing, in which a number of ground mons are being treated for comparatively minor injuries. Excadrill and Blissey work together to get Jani hooked up, while hospital staff rushes in to tend to her from there on out. The first responders head back to their (pretty poorly situated) headquarters*

Jani's going to be out of commission for a bit so I can focus more on overly complicated NPCs , but I'll occasionally post her POV and any visits she might get and such

"We need to regregroup at the Hall", I say to Goobert.

"Sure, dude"

"If you'd prefer, Goobert, you can stay with your new girlfriend, while we go to the hall."

Noriaki just follows along with the group

New g- (I realize that Andy must be talking about Delilah.)

Andy, I haven't even spoken to her except once! (I whisper.) I don't think now is a good time, anyway!

Once the group gets inside the hall, they'd notice Mila sitting down with her head in her paws, trying to hold back her emotions as Koss tries to reassure her by her side.

Look, it ain't yer fault ya got lost. Ya got the help goin' and that's the most anyone coulda asked a' ya when you were new ta the town. Ya did well under pressure, alright? So why don't ya rest fer a bit. We'll figure somethin' out.

Koss stands up and walks over to Voxno and the others as they file in. He's set in a state of surprising calm, given everything that's happened, though there is a distinct determination in his expression. As soon as he catches sight of Vox, he starts asking questions.

So, what d'ya know about the police work bein' done? It looked like the poor girl was taken ta a place ta rest from what I saw, but I missed the investigations. Anyways, ya got the rest a' the initiates? Poor Mila here got lost on her way back, an' I needed ta make sure we ain't lost another one.

"Wait…" I'm actually coming back to my senses. "Wait, Finley! Where are we going?"

"Jani'll be fine, it's not like we can do anything. Tell you what, Goobie. I'll be your wingman!"

*arriving at the guild, Voxno-V◊ wastes no time seeking out a map of the town, and lays it down on the guild leader's desk*

Given the urgency of the situation, I have no choice but to accelerate the timetable. It would be wise to study this map of the town. *it states to the humanmons*

We are here. *it points† to the center of the Boardwalk* Jani was attacked here. *it points to the far southern end of the slums, close to the Boardwalk* Meanwhile, the perpetrator ran off in that direction. *it makes a line from the south slums to the north*

That part of the slums is where the plague is most prevalent. We must head there not only to arrest the perpetrator, but also to quell any similar bouts of unrest in that district.

†There's one little distention on its V form it can use to point. lol

*Voxno then directly addresses Koss*

It would be unwise to leave this simply to the police. Due to the somewhat supernatural nature of this plague, they would be ill equipped if they were to fall victims to it themselves.

Finley looks down at Niles, then back forward. "I guess we're going to headquarters or something. I'm sorry, Niles. Should I put you down?" She seems to have not recovered entirely, as told by her puffy eyes and stiff expression.
