ITT: We Have All Become Pokémon

Hikari fails to dodge the Flash Cannon and is knocked back by the move that was especially painful for her, but in her floaty descent she twirls about and delivers a Dazzling Gleam before managing to make mostly composed landing.

She does squint her red eyes a bit after watching the Kommo-O's technique in his last move, but for now it's something she want sot remember to keep in mind.

Yes! Exactly like that! (Stanley tells Rex.)

(He again turns his attention back to Bailey. He's a bit confused that this Drifloon would be unaware of his next evolution stage, but he shrugs it off.) Yessir! You can even evolve into one!

Anyway, Minimize! You're basically compressing yourself into a smaller form so an opponent will have a harder time hitting you. (He explains.) Like I said before, I'm not someone who can use that move, so I can't show you how to do it, but maybe since I've explained it to you in some detail already, you can play around and see if you can get it to work.

I really only know how to Bite...and Crunch, I think. (I tell the Malamar.)

Oh, merci boucoup, Stellan! I feel the same way about all of you! I do not wish to see any more of you, my new friends, be lost to the actions of zis wicked villain before she is vanquished! (Sunny says, climbing up on Maran's shoulder and standing tall. She gives Maran a peck on the cheek, prompting him to chuckle.) Especially you, mon amour.

(Cortez grumbles.) Doubt I'm high on anyone's priority list.

(Yet another Fairy-type attack struck him. Fatigue starts to wear on Kenzo's face, but he's not done yet. Once again, he charges up another Flash Cannon. Briefly monitoring her movements, he released the sphere of light towards her.)

Hikari's next steps forward are easily read as the second Flash Cannon comes her way.

I certainly cannot take another of those, Hikari thinks to herself before launching another, much quicker Moonblast that grinds at the side of the Flash Cannon before continuing to advance. The Aromatisse is hit again and falls back to her knees, looking like regardless of the turnout of her own move that she is certainly done for now.

Once his exaggerated windup is finished, Heinrich lunges forward with another Force Palm.

"Honestly, it shouldn't even be something that requires concentration. Why don't you try it now?"

Here he comes once again with Force Palm. Since I wanted to dodge this time I wait on him to get close and then I initiate another slide-to-roll to get out of the way, effectively dodging 100% of what he tried to bring forth with the Force Palm.

I get out of the slide-to-roll, somewhat more exhausted and pained than before, a little slow to get up thanks the leg flaring up again. Even still, I feel much better than before. In my semi—struggle I generalize this brief realization I've had.

Yep...I can still do these things but man am I now realizing how limited this injury makes me. Can someone help me up?

   Hmm...I have a few choices of moves for you to use. Dark Pulse or Night Slash, which move would you want to try first?

(The Moonblast managed to connect with its target as he stumbled back from the blast. The Kommo-O fell down to one knee before he raised his arm.) Enough. We'll stop here.

Bailey focuses himself and tries to figure out how to Minimize.

(Stanley keeps a close eye on Bailey and thinks he notices Bailey get just a little bit smaller for a moment.) Hey, I think you're on the right track! Just keep doing what you're doing right now! (He says.)

Um... (Which one would be more useful to me? I have no clue what either of these moves are like. I do a coin toss in my head and go with Night Slash.) ...Night Slash?

I gawtchas, Marly... (Marsha hefts Marlon back up to his feet.) Yas aren't doin' too bad for someone who just gawt their leg skewered.

Well...bzz, Liesl thought I had crushed two of her tails and cursed me before she realized it was an accident that I had nothing to do with. (Maran says.) Bzz, the form I'm in right now isn't my true form. I simply turn into this one if I get splashed with cold water. Bzzz...

And with me, I...erm... (Rich starts to tell his story, but gets distracted when he notices that June, still having been uncharacteristically quiet this whole time, has since moved to the back of the boat while they have all been talking and is currently curled up in a furry gray and red ball on the back seat of the boat.)

She okay? (He asks.)

(Liesl looks over.) I'm not sure. I've never seen June this quiet before.

As soon as I get hefted back onto my feet I look back toward Heinrich and state my intentions of...needing to take a breather. Man, having a severe injury like this makes you feel much more susceptible to being worn out.

As I hobble over to the nearest bench I sit down and field Marsha's compliment. I invite her to come sit and talk with me all the same.

Heh, thanks...but man is it going to be hard getting into an actual battle and trying to manage all of this.

Noriaki came closer, now holding out Hikari's bag, "Shaken off a bit of that 'rust', you might say?"

"To a degree, yes", the Aromatisse responded, taking her bag and pulling out another Sitrus berry she nibbled on.

Mila counts herself lucky that she failed to ask the question out loud as her thoughts finally process what's going on and the miscommunication the situation presented. Trying to calm herself down, Mila almost misses Reimi's comments on her next step of training. Recalling just enough to try again, Mila stands up once more and repeats the process; first preparing a charge and paying attention to how it collects near her face and cheeks. She tries to think about how it's being forced together and how she might reverse the effect, but focusing on that matter too strictly almost destabilizes her before she can even let off a single attack. Catching herself, she finishes the charge and releases a small excess as before, another Thunder Wave directed at Reimi.

With that done, however, it's back to the second half of the attack. Trying to visualize the situation, Mila imagines it as letting some charge escape back into her body, the opposite direction of how she'd produced the attack before. It's a strange sensation, and still somewhat uncomfortable (since she'd unfortunately missed Reimi's own analogy), but eventually she gets to a point where it doesn't feel like she's forced to hold anything back.

"Like that? I— I hope that gets faster and easier with practice."

Narcia, Striblings

Once they reach the table, Autumn lands heavily on the open space by Woodruff, her head almost immediately going into her paws before jolting back up with their continued speech reminding her of her companions. As before, she's just aware enough that she should know why the three of them are planning to move, but she's less than willing to admit that she has no clue why.

"I see— I should probably offer somewhere in Foxfell, but I don't... I've been away—will be away, and I don't know if my word still means anything. Over there."

(Kenzo stood up and approached us with a lighter expression this time, but his stern face made it look obscured.) You've done well enough. And for that, I thank you.

(He took a berry from her bag and ate it. Meanwhile, I gave my thoughts to the Aromatisse.) What did you learn from your bout?

"Something like that, yes." She says after draining out the second Thunder Wave. "I think that's all there is to it. So… quick recap… think of it like water. Only let a little out by leaving a smaller opening, i.e. your cheeks, and swallow up whatever's left. Eventually, you'll get accustomed to building up just the right amount of energy and won't have to worry about the remainder."

"My movements in this body are very... Floaty. That can help in some situations, but it overall makes me easier to hit if my opponent is precise enough and learns my sleepy movements well enough", the Aromatisse responded, adjusting her floppy white hat, "And I could use a bit more variety, Moonblast and Dazzling Gleam are the two most reliable attacking moves I know. The move Kenzo used... That especially caught my interest."

"The transition from combat back home to combat here certainly takes getting used to", said Noriaki, "I was lucky enough to be given the body of a Pokemon whose feathers could act as daggers, our old main weapons of choice. Of course, over time it became less about emulating my old fighting style and learning how to survive in this world."

"I don't even really concentrate when it happens? It just.. happens? And I haven't really ever made it happen outside of battle?" She shrugs.

A moment passes.

"..."

"... Yeah I got nothing."

(Upon hearing the move being mentioned, Kenzo replied to Hikari.) That was Flash Cannon. As you can tell, it's a Steel-type move. As for how I learned it, I got it from a TM.

(I looked at her with some curiosity.) You think you can learn it?

"Flash Cannon... I will be sure to keep the name in mind, thank you", said Hikari before looking to Grigori, "It seems to be a move that I should have the capacity to learn, I believe."

"Flash Cannon coming from an Aromatisse sounds odd to me, but I cannot deny that it could also be possibility", said Noriaki, tilting his head.

Heinrich nods and allows Marlon to recuperate.

"You did well."

Philo frowns. It was natural for an Alolan Vulpix to have trouble calling on their more focused techniques starting out, but to not even be able to summon Hail on command... that was unusual.

"...Interesting. And concerning. The ability to summon Hail should be something an Alolan Vulpix can do from birth..."

Dana just kind of gets a weird look on her face, very much wanting to go "Haha I wasn't born an Alolan Vulpix" but having enough self control to not actually say that out loud.

".. Maybe I'm just weird? It's not like I can't use ice at all."

Just then a Pelliper crashed through the doorway of the dojo, carrying mail.

"Pardon me for interrupting you train but I have mail for a female Raichu and a former Dartrix." she squaks out over the choas of the dojo.

Salty, seeing June curled up, tries to go over to her.

"You alright, matey?"

(As I say that, Kenzo has a gray-colored scroll in his hand and offers it to Hikari.) Here. It should teach you the move.

"Ah, thank you, good sir", the Aromatisse said, taking the scroll and reading it, "Hm... I don't feel capable of putting this to practice right now, but I will keep this technique in mind when the moment comes..."

Noriaki turned his head to the Pelipper that came rushing in.

"Hm?"

The Decidueye wondered who the letter could possibly be from if the carrier seemed to be informed that he had evolved recently.

"Who is the letter from?", he asked.

(As Bailey continues practicing Minimize, Stanley turns his attention back to Rex for a moment.) Anything else I can teach you, feller? You look like you should be able to learn Fury Swipes at this point.

How am I supposed to do that? (He must really want me to learn Dark Pulse, I suppose, but that's beside the point. How am I supposed to draw out Dark energy?)

(It really is sad that I'm 20 years old and I have not figured out how my Krokorok body even really works...and unlike Eliot, Mila, Goobert and the others, I don't even have the excuse of having used to be human. Such is what happens when you spend almost your entire life since the age of six shut up in either the library in Agartha or your home doing nothing but read fiction, I suppose.)

(Marsha does note how exhausted Marlon quickly got after all this as she has a seat.) Y'know, Marly, should ya really be fightin' awn a bum leg so soon afta it got hurt? Looks like doing awll that really took the wind outta yas and ya only sparred with me 'n Arm Fluff there for like, three minutes!
