It's funny how the tagline for Book III is "The day the light died" while meanwhile in the Smash Bros World, alot of the Fire Emblem characters (among others) are having problems with, let's say too much light.

Oh, man, my Gwendolyn +10 is a bonus, which means I can bring Fjorm to put my Arena score off in crazy land. Let's go!
Looks like I'll have a decently strong start for Aether Trials, since I can use my Fjorm +7. I could actually make an entire team of six built bonus units from that roster, but if it scores like Arena, that'd be a bad idea (none of Kliff, F!Robin, Aversa or Sharena are merged 5*s and Est is a 4*+10).
I've got Ryoma for Tempest, though he's capped on HM, so I'll definitely be looking to get the new Azura to replace him ASAP.

Eirika & Y!Tiki Japanese legendary video has more dislikes than Marth's & Hectors. The Fire Emblem community has double standards in general. I don't want to consider myself a Fire Emblem fan anymore. It started with people complaining about Lyn's inclusion in Fire Emblem Warriors, cemented itself with Lucina's legendary video & end with this knowledge. It didn't matter how many times I empathize with them, they still came across obnoxious and I'm just done with that crap. On top of that, I'm not enjoying the other games as much I want to so that's enough for me believe I'm not a Fire Emblem fan. I probably never was one since the only ones I did enjoy were Awakening & Fate

There's certainly lessons to learn from those facts, but i fail to see how letting other people's reactions dictate what you like and don't like because you don't want to associate with them is one of those.

It's certainly easier if you don't actively seek out the negativity. I still have to see a toxic fire emblem fan myself, but I'm not exactly in any hurry to get to their reddit, or to look at the forum section of serenes forest or gamefaqs anytime soon. I follow the romhacking discord of the 3ds fire emblems and it's pretty chill, and that's fine by me.

Yeah, I've totally sworn off the reddit, and I really only check here to see other's reactions to new trailers.
Never mind that I'm not even really a Fire Emblem fan to begin with, at least I wasn't when I picked up the game. I'm a voice acting fan and was drawn in by the impressive English cast.

So, here's the weird thing: it's actually pretty difficult to see these kinds of people on Reddit, GameFAQs or Serenes. They definitely exist and make their presence known when they show up (and TVTropes certainly isn't devoid of bad eggs, but consider how little they're seen here, too), but those places don't get a lot of topics that would really facilitate clashes of strong opinions. There's usually threads about Arena or targeting certain difficult events, but for the most part, it's all shit posts, which few people take seriously, so there's a lot less tension when there's opposing opinions.

And the majority of that is hyperbolic troll comments in shit posts. Sure, they probably do actually believe at least part of that, but serious arguments aren't that common. Most of the time, it's just a long list of troll comments in a sea of shit posts that almost no one cares about other than the fact that they're bored.

I think your standards for what counts as a toxic fan might be different from mine, because I've certainly seen some on this site. Thankfully, some of them have been thrown out for bad behavior, and at least this site is not as bad as GameFAQs (which, admittedly, is not a very high bar to clear).

It's easier than that : I haven't been on this site for long enough. I don't think I've been there for a whole year yet. or barely. I guess there was one or two people with severe cases of single issues wonk, but even them were relatively civil about it and weren't throwing insults and ad hominem everywhere.
I know a few posters who were fairly quick to resort to ad hominems (and I've been the target of ad hominems before on this site). Thankfully, the ones who are still on this site don't do it as often as they used to, but they're still prone to rude behavior.

I've seen them. The fandom gets vocal, but I'm used to hearing the same or worse because I'm in involved in Sonic, Pokemon, Final Fantasy, and Smash fandoms.

Hmmm, that feels kind of lame in a way that doesn't really solve the Bold Fighter spam issue. I guess there's a number of tanky infantry who can make use of it, but I really think the restriction should have been to non-ranged units instead of by movement type.
