So is this game still up?

I can still hail the Horde even though the company has shamed us. Strength and Honor even if Blizzard has neither.

I suppose that's a good question: Half my original cast never posted, and despite the holiday season being long over you're really the only other one to show interest. So, it is entirely possible everyone else already stealth-quit...

Pretty much the only reason I haven't updated already is because how small the cast is, so I figured delays in activity wouldn't warrant any stealth-quits. If you're the only one left, I would need to think things over for proceeding. Still, I honestly think I merely had bad timing with launching the roleplay, rather than any inherent faults this time.

Hm... I see.

For the record I'm still interested in this game.

...are you killing yet another story by allowing the slowest player to determine the rhythm of the game and/or making excuses in order to avoid writing, my friend?

*sigh* To be honest, I feel really bad for your current players, because they look like they were actually having a good time, (somehow! so far, I'm not impressed with your current work) and yet you're going to leave them hanging while quietly killing yet another story.

...I appreciate and respect you a whole lot, broseph, but sometimes you make it so difficult to do so. Well... at least I feel glad I didn't write any profile, as it really seems it would have been a frustrating waste of my time and creative energy.

Edit: I apologize for my harsh words, but... Man! Why do you keep doing stuff like this?! I'm not even mad, just... really sad and disappointed, brother. sad

There's only four people, and honestly I never understood why Tropers stealth-quit just because a story isn't rapid fire. If you think my writing is unimpressive then explain next time why. Other than that, suppose it is about time I updated then.

Four people is more than enough when you're willing to put an effort into it! Hell! If anything, less people is actually way better, because it allows to focus on things in order to flesh out the writing better. Quality over quantity.

As of now, you're just making excuses and giving me reasons not to trust you when it comes to writing... It is a harsh thing to say, but it's also the truth. As I've said, I'm not even mad, just really disappointed.

Edit: Also, the reason I still find your writing "unimpressive", is because you're still doing "that thing"... the thing where you write a whole lot of stuff without saying anything at all. I'm all in for mystery and the world having so much stuff going on, it opens up interesting opportunities for future stories... but when everything is so cryptic and needless complicated, to the point your reader/audience/player can't understand what the hell is going on... now THAT is where things don't work.

That's the reason why you don't have more players: You ask everyone to memorize a little novel worth of lore in order to even understand what the heck is going. Extensive manuals and/or world-bibles are really useful from the author's perspective; having a well defined set of rules and lore from the get go is fantastic, creates a strong continuity... but expecting for the audience to invest so much time and mental energy in order to even get a slight idea of what's the deal with the story... now, that's a bit unreasonable.

Edit_2: I apologize for being so harsh, my dear friend... but I'm only hard with you, because I respect you, and I care for you... and I want for you to be even better. If you were truly hopeless, and a genuinely awful writer, I wouldn't be writing anything right now... but I know better, I know you can do a lot better. Please, prove me I'm right, broseph... prove me how awesome you can be.

Regarding making excuses, I genuinely didn't realize Guardian already posted- I bridged from the links, and mistakenly thought 21 was the same count as before. Barely anything happens for me IRL, so I honestly can't say with certainty why that happened. Still, I can see why everyone was getting worried I wrote this off... I can only really apologize by updating today, for such a serious error on my part.

Well to be fair regarding the Manual, most of it isn't absolutely essential information- A brawler doesn't need to know about Alchemy, and a wizard wouldn't need Serum Purgers. The Manuals tend to be so massive to help the players know what is possible and allowed/preferred/standard.

For what it's worth I think that the breadth and scale of the manual is fascinating. It makes the game's universe feel more like a living, breathing, internally consistent world. There are so many games that I've joined that have an "everything but the kitchen sink" mentality to its lore and everything feels like it doesn't really mesh together. This game seems to be tying everything together in a way that makes (at least some amount of) sense.

First off, I'd like to say, as always, I'm still interested buddy.

Second, I would like to expand a bit on what VPhantom said. Four players is enough, maybe even more than enough. It isn't like you're trying to make it a big cast. Plus, the stuff Phantom mentioned,

But...I know that you want to wait on everyone before you post your updates, but may I make a suggestion? Since not all of our characters are necessarily interacting with each other (there are three sub sections), perhaps you can post on a schedule for those who have responded so that the faster players don't have to wait on the slower ones?

As for the manual, I agree with Thrall. I like the manual (as big as it is), it makes the world feel alive and I get to know more about the world, even if I'm not necessarily going to use all the knowledge presented. But I think the main thing Phantom meant is because it's so big, people tend to think they have to know everything otherwise they might mess something up. And they don't know what they need to know to pull off whatever character they need and so they just go through all of it to be sure. Maybe. That's what I think anyway.

(Also, I can't help but find it amusing you mention rapid fire response when I'm quite used to slow paced roleplays. Like, a week or two ,sometimes two months, between responses)

Not in its current form, no. I know you guys tried putting up with my delays, but I find it hard to be enthusiastic like this- I got a fully fledged universe developed here, with all kinds of characters and events I want to write for. Honestly, I like how things are done at the Character Development Thread. That, and I'm fully certain I really screwed up the timing when it came to starting this.

So what I really want to do is refine the general setting I was going for, either via a Spiritual Successor or redesign. Honestly I should of just declared this earlier, but I've gotten really tired of how my roleplays putter out so I tried forcing myself despite not feeling it. I just... Really hate feeling worthless creatively.
