X-23 is more or less a contemporary of the other X-Men in the comics, right? (I've read... pretty much none of them)
She seems significantly further removed from everybody else here in the film continuity.
It's rather interesting that Logan's character arc in The Wolverine is basically invalidated in the very next movie DOFP, as it is vitally connected to the events of The Last Stand and those events are wiped out (although Logan apparently remembers the old timeline and the mental time travel to 1973). The Bad Future of DOFP ensures that this movie cannot be an extension beyond the events of that future, as the timeline literally changed right before they are killed and the world looks more desolate than apocalyptic.
I would point out that Jackman clearly had aging make-up in the 2024 scenes of DOFP, reinforcing that he has an extended lifespan rather than actually being immortal. My biggest question is that including Xavier in this story means it can't be another 100 years in the future but within 20-30 at the most. The Good Future of DOFP ensures that world events are manageable or even positive up to that point. Something about the trailer makes me think some sort of wide scale Power Nullifier was in effect. Because while I can imagine his healing factor getting weaker with age, outright leaving him seems too much like a retread of The Wolverine.
They do appear to be approaching it differently here. In The Wolverine it was something abnormal and inflicted from an external cause: a mystery to be solved so Logan could resume his ass-kicking ways.
Here it appears to be something intrinsic. He's aged and confronting his mortality. This time around it's not a problem to be solved; it's a man facing his imminent death and having to make his peace with it.
Wow this actually looks good.
And I'll just say that if they make a movie based on The Last of Us that they should definitely definitely give Hugh Jackman the part of Joel.
"You can't change the world without getting your hands dirty."They should've called this film The Last of X.
In the Wolverine, his healing factor was only "toned down" by the Viper (because as she aptly observes if she removed it altogether Adamantium Poisoning would kill him) and only for a few days. In this movie his healing factor seems to be going away altogether, throughout a extended period of time, and he has adapted to account for that.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."While this movie does look excellent I'm hoping it gets retconned rather quickly. I mean imagine trying to make the contemporary set Deadpool movies line up with the events of Logan!

Presenting! That'd actually make for a perfectly in character meta joke.
"Well, this is a shitty situation, but at least I have a bright future to look forward to, right?"
Yeah that's true. But it also raises the question of what happened to Wade before Logan starts considering he is much younger then Wolverine so his healing factor shouldn't have crapped out at that point.
Presenting! In The Wolverine, his healing was artificially weakened (but not taken away completely because he was still surviving things that would kill normal men, or at least a long stay in the hospital) by Viper. Here, his powers just seem to be fading due to age.
Also in The Wolverine it was more about him being almost immortal, but feeling like his life had no purpose. And then when he finally finds a purpose (protecting Mariko Yashida), it's ironically when he's at his most vulnerable. And the end result is him coming to terms with himself (hence him telling her that he's a solider and his been hiding away for too long at the end there).
Here, it seems to be about him confronting his own mortality. And then he discovers something (helping X-23), that gives him one last reason to fight
So apparently there's a Red Band trailer for the film. It's not much different than the original trailer, but it has an additional shot of Wolverine stabbing a guy through the chin.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Yeah, he gives that guy a total headache.
That pun gave me a migraine.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Quite the headscratcher.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Let's not get ahead of ourselves with these puns.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?I'm sure if we use our heads we can find something better to discuss.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Are we heading for another topic?
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Headlong into another topic, I'd say
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I need an aspirin.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?I bet Logan's favorite song from High School Musical is "Getcha Head in the Game."

Have you any dreams you'd like to sell? Thanks for the heads up.
Heads are gonna roll if this keeps going.
One Strip! One Strip! We'll make the headlines for sure.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."
How many movies until we get a third timeline? Cable's turning up in the next deadpool (people are theorising that he'll bring X-23 back with him) so possibly sooner rather than later.
