Yeah, I can easily guess who it is, but it would've made the final segment of the arc a lot stronger if they actually pulled that trigger.

Of all obvious plot twists for the series to take its time on... :P

Was not a huge fan of the Chameleon in this episode. If he does talk in his default state I prefer it to be with a Russian accent. Spectaular's was my favorite version outside of the comics.

I do, however, like the design of his mask as it looks like the basic sketch templates for drawing a face. Seems appropriate given his master of disguise theme.

Are you saying you don't like this version of the dude?

I still remember watching that ep when Fox aired it in prime time. Pretty good for a saturday morning cartoon.

Man, it's been so long since I've seen Fury's comics design in anything but print.

I know right.

The last time it existed in animation would actually be Xmen Evolution.

It's legitimately hard to remember when Fury wasn't black.

Well, damn. I was expecting Ock. I wasn't expecting the Superior Freaking Spider-Man.

They announced before the series started they were adapting it, I just figured it'd be the finale

Yeah, the producers were talking about doing it for season two in an interview before season two was even officially confirmed.

These were some pretty decent episodes. I did like the sense of dread around Doc Ock's plan coming to fruition. I do think they telegraphed the body-switch a bit much, and admittedly, I liked how it was handled in the comic better. That said, I liked the use of the Living Brain here. Since it's a pretty obscure Spidey character, the twist that it hosts Otto's consciousness can actually catch non-comic reading people off-guard. The cliffhanger was also great, particularly the juxtaposition of Otto taking over as Spidey and Peter being trapped in the broken husk of the Living Brain.

The description for the preview clips in Marvel's You Tube channel teased that Jack O'Lantern would fight Spidey along Electro and Beetle, but only his canon showed up. Hmm, either the writers for that synopsis misinterpreted how much he'd be involved or maybe he was cut from the episode. Poor Tinkerer. Maybe he should do more behind-the-scenes commission work, instead of using other villains' gimmicks.

The only small disappointment I had was the lack of cameos in the prison. Admittedly, I like watching prison episodes of shows because of all the cameos you could cram in there. But hey, at least Spidey got to revisit Electro and Beetle. Miles's reaction to Anya as Spider-Girl was great.

He wouldn't be a good master of disguise if he couldn't hide his accent.

Even in the comics he doesn't use Russian slang as often as Kraven does.

Generally enjoyed this duology of episodes.

Do kind of wish that Doctor Octavius's voice was filtered more consistently, though, because in the second part it was like three different types of filtration. Pretty sure one of them was filtered almost exactly like The Brain, which I'm guessing is a tongue-in-cheek nod to the fact that Scott Menville plays that character in Go! (after Glenn Shadix passed away).

[up] I wish he had another voice actor as the Living Brain/the employer to completely disguise the role.

Makes sense. They aired the entire first half of the season without stopping, and even doubling up on some episodes. It's also one hell of a cliffhanger to end on.

Just finished this.

Hoping whatever damage Ock does to Pete's rep won't last too long. He just started earning back the trust of the cops.

It occurs to me that these last few episodes have been a little classic Sinister 6 (where Ock originally sent them out one by one to wear Spidey down), a little bit Master Planner (that much is obvious) and of course, Superior Spider Man. That's three different Ock stories all combined into one. Not bad.

I don't know.

Does Ock have any other big stories? Superior is very recent, but he was dead for a few years (and they already intro'ed Carolyn).

All that's left is the death of Captain Stacy, and he doesn't even seem to be in this (plus I don't think they'll play that card in this series anyway).

Ock's got lots of stories, the result of being Peter's longest running archenemy after all, but I think this series has more than done its job in giving him time to shine.

If it wasn't for this show being done after this season, the end of this arc would have been the perfect time to shelve him for a little bit, then to eventually bring him back a season or so later in a big surprise moment.

It's one of the changes I've noticed in the show's storytelling between the two seasons. Season one had numerous factions between Norman Osborn, Jackal, and eventually Doc Ock as the main villains. Season two, with the exception of the Venom two-parter and some one-off episodes, is largely Doc Ock-centered. Osborn and Jackal have completely disappeared from the show.

I'm expecting Osborn at least to show up later. I think that the recent two-parter also hinted that Doc Ock was working with the Jackal at some point during his little chess game.

It reminds me of how Spectacular did it, especially in its second season. "This is the first set of episodes, which are all about Ock", "this is the second set of episodes, which are all about Venom," "this is the third set of episodes, which are all about Goblin," and so on.
