If they're only having 10 at a time it seems rather redundant having both Fourarms and Humongousaur since they are both just super-strong brawler unless they revamp the latter's power set.

Slapback apparently has duplication powers. Whenever you slap his back (hence the name), he clones himself.

Humungousaur also says stuff like "You're about to go extinct!" and Rath calls himself the "CLAW OF JUSTICE!" in the toy. (Am I the only one expecting a huge three-paragraph post about the reboot and Mo A's decisions coming in?)

Rath isn't that different either.

So, let me see:

  • 4 aliens with Super Strength (Four Arms, Diamondhead, Rath and Humungusaur (I don’t know how to write it)
  • 1 flying alien (Stinkfly)
  • 1 plant alien (Wildvine)
  • 1 water alien (Overflow)
  • 1 fire alien (Heatblast)
  • 1 alien with Super Speed (XLR 8)
  • 1 duplication alien (Slapback)
  • 1 alien with Super Intelligence (Grey Matter)

Of all these, they got rid of the Plant, Water and Super Intelligence?!? SERIOULSLY?!?!? At least make Gwen and/or Glitch protest for that.

Gwen is most likely to make a comment on it, and Glitch would do a diagnosis of what happened for Ben to lose the aliens. Max would probably comment this isn't the first time, and Ben would say everything is okay (while slowly dying on the inside because those were still good aliens like the others and he lost them!)

[up] Actually, I think Glitch will be just changing the tubes so they can have another ones sometimes while not having anothers (Discard and Draw).

EDIT: “slowly dying inside” XD

I'm just glad to find out that I'm not the only one who has hard time spelling Humongousaur. I should just call him Vaxasaurian for simplicity!

OOOOOHHHH, I like that! Reminds me of "Mega Man: Fully Charged", the new Mega Man show made my Man of Action, where Mega Man can't use more than three Robot Masters powers. When he gets new ones, he has to go home to swap them out.

Ok so we're losing Overflow, Wildvine, and Grey Matter and they're being replaced by one possibly duplication alien and two strong, brawling type aliens. Whelp, there goes the variety and depth. If Slapback really is an alien that can duplicate himself, why? Ditto, Echo Echo and Buzzshock already exist. Why create another duplication alien when they could just bring back one of these aliens? What the hell is Man of Action and CN Studios thinking here?

I am willing to be sliiiighlty forgiving, because close to all powers were used up and we can't really judge how unique he is until we see him in action. However, with track record the show had so far, I assume he's shameless and uncreative copy, like Overflow was.

Ok so not only can Slapback duplicate himself (by slapping his back for some reason instead of just at will) but every time he creates a duplication Slapback and his duplicates get smaller and smaller in size while also getting denser and denser with each duplication.

Huh, ok, that's creative.

If not too outlandish and maybe even arbitrary compared to other aliens throughout the franchise. It's still not something new. We've already seen an alien that can shrink in size. Again, there's already three other aliens that can duplicate. Slapback's ability being activated by slapping his back is just a moment of "Why?". Slapback still seems unnecessary and I still find it better to just bring back either Ditto, Echo Echo, or Buzzshock. Definitely side more with picking Ditto. This sounds more like Mo A and CN Studios are just desperate to create new aliens or they ran out of ideas and are just throwing darts at a board and seeing where they land or something of the likes.

How about an alien that has the power to control shadows? I don't think we got one of those yet.

That more related to magic than alien. Having an ability like that would fit more with maybe Gwen and definitely Charmcaster and Hex.

Yeah, after all, it's not like we had any indications that aliens could do magic in this setting! *Nervously tries to hide the Anodytes and Adwaita*

Yeah, Anodytes and Adwaita are, at least to me, examples of why I find that elements of magic don't fit aliens at least in the Ben 10 universe. I don't find Adwaita to be interesting and he felt out of place to me to fit into the magic side of Ben 10 and the Anodytes don't make any sense as an alien species given how they were implemented. So yes, having an ability, like controlling shadows, is something that's more magic based and therefore would fit more in line with a sorcerer than an alien.

Honestly I think Humongosaur could work.

If they would just remember that he has the ability to change size.

And I completely disagree on that point. I will admit Adwaita wasn't that interesting a villain, but to me both him and Anodites are good ideas that merely got bad execution. It makes sense to me that magic wouldn't be something you'd only find on Earth and that aliens would develop their own spellcasters. I mean, Charmcaster's people came from Another Dimension, I don't see why magic should exist only for humans. If anything, it makes the setting richer to have the Fantasy Kitchen Sink elements meet and mix with each other rather than inexplicably stay separated.

And yeah, I am on Sunchet's side here. By the time I write this, Ben already had among his forms a giant who shoot cosmic beams, five aliens based on classic horror monsters (including one whose home realm literally is a portal to another dimension), too many mechanical aliens for me to count, and a friggin' LEGO gorilla alien. It's a bit late to argue some abilities are "too magic" to fit as alien powers when we had much sillier stuff.

Somehow I feel like Bloxx might actually work in this entry, since they seem to be going more with the Discard and Draw method with Ben losing aliens and getting new ones.

That miiight be me speaking as a fan of LEGO, though.

I know that he's weird, but for some reason I really accept and even like Bloxx too (I do like Upgrade and Goop as well, so ironically, I guess I think some of Ben's best transformations are shapeshifters themselves) But Molestache is just too weird for my taste. It probably because "living mustache" doesn't feel like an alien power and more like something from Silly Super Powers 101.

I do not like Bloxx much personally, because even for Ben 10, the idea there's a planet where an entire species just happened to evolve to look like LEGO blocks really stretch my suspension of disbelief too much, but I do admit his power is creative and could be made to be a bit more credible - personally I like to imagine he is a corail-like life form. Also, I'm with you, Etheru: LEGO are cool^^

But yeah, I agree Molestache is a bit too silly. Not for the same reason than Bloxx though; it's just that he feels too cartoonish.
