Pokemon Go

Managed to get into a group of randoms at an Attack Forme Deoxys raid. Managed to catch my very first Deoxys ever.

The catching part was a little tense though, since I only had 8 Premier Balls to catch it. Thankfully I had a lot of Golden Razz Berries stocked up, so I got it on my fifth throw.

Maybe I've just been super lucky, but I find that Deoxys is one of the easier legendaries to catch.

I got super lucky with shiny Turtwig - managed a full eight. On the flip side, I only got one really solid one stat-wise (15-14-15), and it was only level 3 when I caught it, so that's a bunch of dust to make it usable (I'm currently debating whether or not to just leave it just shy of 1500 for Great League use, or whether I want to take the dive and power it up all the way). Fortunately, I saved a couple good ones from before CD for evolution.

The Unova Stone will be available only through research breakthroughs at first, and the only release Pokemon that needs it is Chandelure.

Is the Turtwig boost gone now? Just checking since I've got two Field Researches depending on me catching one more. If they're rare again, I'll discard them.

Yes, once community day's three hours are over, everything goes back to normal.

Gen 5 has the most Pokemon total, they can afford to splurge a bit. Surprised to see Deino on day 1 though, even if it's only in eggs.

Seems like there's been quite a few 10km incentives lately. I wonder if their stats are showing a downswing in people bothering to hatch 10kms.

Caught my first Unovan Pokemon just now: a Lilipup.

I'm hoping to start running into Snivies soon; Serperior is one of my favorite Pokemon, and I can't wait to have one in Go.

Caught a few Lillipups along with a Patrat and Pidove so far. Seen Drillbur, Purrloin, and Fungoos on the tracker as well.

Also, didn’t they say that the 2x Incubator effectiveness was supposed to last the entire event? Because I just started a 7k egg and it was the full 7k instead of 3.5k.

Edit: Just started another one and it was 3.5k this time. Guess that first time was just a fluke.

I keep seeing Hoenn mons *cries*

Yeah, most of the spawns at the moment are Hoenn-centric - I've seen two Patrats and three Lillipups and that's it (though I've seen Drilbur, Pidove, Purrloin, Liepard, and Foongus on my radar, and I fought an Amoongus in a gym this morning).

On the bright side, I finally got that third Whismur that I needed for the Jirachi quest, so that's something.

Just finished up the first quest of many for that Jirachi quest, so I've no idea what horrors await me for the remainder of the quest line.

Hoping that a Mewtwo raid shows up near my workplace sometime today; I've been wanting a Mewtwo for a long time, but could never get one because no one's around for raids in my area.

Whismurs are the biggest annoyance because even though it's a somewhat common Mon, they're asking for three of one specific Mon (and Loudreds don't even count for credit...). The rest is the standard grind-fest stuff.

One thing to keep in mind is that this Mewtwo is returning with theoretical T6 stats, so it can be a very rough fight. If you've been sitting on resources at all, this would be a good time to put them into top-end anti-Psychic Mons.

I went out last night with the intent of hitting one raid on my way home. Ended up doing three and the third netted me a shiny, which is crazy. That almost never happens to me (Rayquaza was the notable other, getting me the shiny on my very first raid of the month). Of course, the friend I was with topped anything I'd ever seen. He's gotten a shiny earlier in the day. Then he got another on the first raid I joined in on. Then he got another one alongside the one I got. That's three shinies in four raids. Just, what even.

@Darkflamewolf: Most of the quest is, as noted, just grindy (right now, I'm whittling away at "Catch 50 Psychic or Steel type Pokemon"). The "Catch 3 Whismurs" in the second part of the quest line was notable because the day after Jirachi research went live was the start of the Water Festival, when Whismur spawns basically stopped (I got only two Whismurs before the Water Festival started... which was two weeks ago). And since Johto spawns were being prioritized once that ended, Whismurs were only barely spawning if you were lucky. Yesterday is when the suckers finally started spawning in good numbers again.

Also, not that it matters too much (given that the reward for catching 3 Whismurs is the candy needed to evolve one), but you will need a Loudred for part 3 of the quest line, so don't release all your Whismurs that you caught from part 2 (unless you have a Loudred still in your box).

@Kuroi: Okay, I've pulled off the consecutive shiny catches 4 times now (Charmander CD, the day Roselia's shiny launched, a random day where I got shiny Rattata and Shellder, and Turtwig CD), and even I think that's nuts. Getting 3 shinies in 4 Mewtwo raids? The sheer luck.

My city's Discord group is putting together a huge raid train for tomorrow's raid hour. Lots of people coming out for shiny Mewtwo.

The 50 Steel/Psychic task is trivialized if you have access to Let's Go, since the Mystery Box spawns about 20 Steel-type Meltan.

You can fight the same person seven times and it counts. You don't even have to win, despite the wording.

How will I know if someone's online? If they have blue aura?

The blue aura means you've already levelled up friendship that day.

@Anura Well, I only just got Let's Go Eevee, plus I promised to play it along with my kid, and she's a bit stubborn because she wants to play it her way and thus we're still fairly early (we just cleared Lavender Tower), so I don't have the box yet (her idea of fun is to go into the Rock Tunnel and try to guess what the shadowy spawns are).

That said, I'm not terribly concerned. I live in one of the windiest cities in the country, and thus we tend to get a ton of Psychic spawns (I was in one of the areas that was known for its massive Drowzee spawns early in the game's lifecycle to boot). It's still probably going to take me until tomorrow, but that's mostly because yesterday and today involve a lot of things that I have to take care of outside of the game.

I wish there's an indicator that the friend can be gifted from the list, at least. Don't want to check each friend.

So it turns out the one that I thought was least likely of my nominations a few pages back was the choice - October's Community Day choice is Trapinch.

It had to happen eventually. Don't really care for the quantity and candy of them, since we've been drowning in them over here forever. However, I am a big fan of Vibrava's design (and I also think Flygon looks cool enough), so I have no complaints about getting shinies for them (especially since the colour changes are both notable and not ugly). It's a shame I won't ever have a good reason to use it in raids, though.

I may raise a shiny to be a goof with if I don't have to worry about raid numbers (I did similar at the very end of Suicune Day—broke out my full team of level 40 Raichus to fight the final Suicune of the day with).

Sounds like your Trapinch are my Swinub. Because I almost never see the former - according to my 'dex, I've only seen 29 of them (and caught 28). Whereas, well, I've complained enough about Swinub Day.
