x3 good point but honestly examples are hard. The popularity of a lot of male servants feels kind of accidental and most of the 5*s debut as antagonists (e.g. Arjuna Alter)

The most recent is Romulus-Quirinus as our ultimate ally in Olympus, then before him was Orion as one of the Neo-Argonauts, then before him was Saber Astolfo as an Ally during Christmas, then before him was Napoleon as one of our main allies in Gotterdammerung, then before him was Achilles as one of our three main allies in Inheritance of Glory. So we've had quite a few 5* Males that weren't enemies. Hell, you can technically count Odysseus too since we didn't fight him, but his Lostbelt self, whereas his actual self was our main ally during the Circe event.

I've caught up now.

Yeah, I'm kinda on the murderer side right now. This is just a bunch of crooks that I have zero sympathy for, and the sooner they die, the sooner I can get back to my actual work.

And the way game assumes I've become super attached to Juliet is rather jarring.

The twist with Chris is... ehh. I'm mostly wondering why the Marble Company who is apparently so powerful no one would dare to go against them, is kowtowing to demands of a mobster who's power is waning and who already has to borrow their influence just to keep his own subordinates in check. The power dynamic here is out of wack.

I do find it amusing like people at Chaldea are acting like I'm bringing them new chapters of a mystery novel each time I wake up.

There’s probably a meta-meaning to it all but I don’t care. I don’t care about all these people. They’re members of crime families. The Marble Company has probably presided over some sketchy contracts in the past as well. Let ‘em all burn.

I particularly don’t care for the fact that we’ve been told who we are and what we feel. It bothers me.

I'm not really even reading it, just skipping through it all since I vaguely remember enough of it from the JP version.

I other words, it's fine as long as it is done with characters you like.

x4 not quite. I'm not super attached to Melt but I did like how she was handled in the end of CCC and I still mentioned Sanzang as a negative even if she's one of the female servants I actually like to a certain degree (she makes me smile at any rate).

I don't really care whether or not it's a character I like because half the time the baiting isn't the reason I'll roll for them anyway. Like Moriarty was an unexpected favourite of mine and I'd put that more in him being more amusing than what I initially expected than any sentimentality by the end.

I guess it's just the subliminal messaging that's got me side eyeing it? Like if Sherlock is any indication you're going to bait people into spending their money regardless so the extra push feels a bit unnecessary (though that's different from making one like their character, which was mostly absent from people like Europa whose popularity suffered as a result)

I guess I can also blame my sleepiness for forgetting so many, though Romulus is technically genderless despite everything and even if it was his LB version we met first Odysseus was still the antagonist in the beginning (the same way we technically never really met Enkidu but Kingu was absolutely an enemy for most of Babylonia). There are also a bunch of girls who debut as enemies too, Kiara and Kama, the 3 goddess alliance members even if we get their loyalty relatively quickly, Schez though its pretty fascinating to see what would make one roll for an evil lady, hot body aside

Holmes and Moriarty, in particular.

Considering that they are manifestations of fiction brought into reality through magecraft an now trying to solve a real-life murder case that's observed through supernatural means in that very moment, it wouldn't surprise me that they would be savvy about the whole thing.

And where did Holmes run off to?!

(I have my suspicions, but that would be way too inception for this to handle...)

Edit: someone mentioned surprise that Dantes hasn't come to our rescue yet. I guess this being a real event is what affects his ability to interfere, but you'd think he'd at least dig into why it's happening at all. Human decency subscribes that we help solve this mystery rather than leaving both families to the wolves but then again they are all criminals.

Stuck in a house where we could be the next victim at any point feels like being in danger. At any rate, even if it doesn't actually kill us, I don't think the experience of dying will be good for us mentally
