[up]It's possible that the restraints are new to the Round Table; when it was first created, it fell a giant space alien after all.

Edit: whoops, a page-topper.

What [up] said. The restraints could very well have been a relatively recent addition included by the world as well.

According to Fragments, the KOTR created the seals because Excalibur too op even if it's Arthur using it.

Not to mention the seals were likely something Nasu came up with later on to circumvent the fact that Excalibur's title as "the strongest sword" was getting increasingly ridiculous thanks to the Power Creep the franchise went through as time went by.

Eeeeh. There actually isn't much power creep when it comes to swords, even with FGO. Like, maybe Photon Ray and Ea come close. "Sword" wise at least. And Photon Ray is kinda the prototype of beam weapons if I'm not mistaken.

Arthur is a proper wielder of the Holy Sword and one of Artorias Alts even aknowledges that about him.

Like how some kid 12000 years ago grabbed that Sword and Excaliblasted Sefar to death.

Wish DW added some bears to this game. There's a guy for everyone, hunks, twinks, and everything in between, but yet not a single sign of decent chest hair.

I know Japan has problems with body hair, but c'mon! You're international now, FGO! Give us a cookie from time to time!

I guess in that case my question then becomes, how did a group of dumbasses who formed a knightly order 15,000 years after it was made create seals that could affect the power of a weapon that killed Sefar?

It's been fun.

Merlin can grow dicks, sealing an ancient weapon of unbelievable might is piece of cake.

I also like how each seal reflects on tge personality of each knight: both Bedivere's and Lancelot's seals show how much they care for the safety of the king; Galahad's reflects how much of a self-righteous ass he is; and Mordred's...actually unsure, maybe it shows the idealization of his father? That all who opposed King Arthur are evil?

Anyway, the seals are as follows, so tell me your theories:

"The battle must be against an opponent stronger than oneself." - Bedivere

"The battle must not be against an elemental." - Lancelot.

"The battle must be against evil." - Mordred.

"The battle must not involve personal gain." - Galahad.

"The battle must be to save the world." - Arthur.

Galahad is just too pure for you. He got to go to Heaven because he impressed God that much and didn't even want anything from him when given a wish.

Lance's restraint protects elementals because he was raised by lake fairies. He didn't want Arthur hurting his mummy.

Assuming the talk about Rhongo's seals as Excalibur's are the same is literal then

Kay - "This is a battle for living"
Gaheris - "This is not an inhumane battle"
Agravain - "This is a battle for truth"

And Palamedes is "The battle must be one-on-one"

Mordred's show simple-mindedness. No dillydallying around words - if enemy is a bad guy, it deserves to be scrapped.

If Galahad was actually that pure, he would've made a wish for someone else. Not asking for anything shows arrogance.

It's like Madoka Magica and Skullgirls; all wishes are selfish, because the fact that you wish for it means you have a personal gratification out of it even f it doesn't benefit you directly. All you can do is accepting that you're selfish, so whatever; I do things my way.

I mean, that viewpoint is then shattered at the end of Madoka, though. It's not exactly applicable since the very basis of the wish in Madoka is designed to make people slowly start feeling like they were cheated and deserved more from their wish.

It's been fun.

Madokas seflessness did lead Homura to become selfish incarnate as the Devil because of her refusal to be concerned about herself.

Galahad never had that so he lucked out.
