there is a lesbian protagonist in Borderlands Athena who can get marry her girlfriend Janey Springs.
Dear god I think that is Rhys!
Though to be fair, I'm pretty sure she's only a, uh practicing?, lesbian after she's not a protagonist.
The tie declares it so.

If they're deadset on making this 4 playable characters with maybe 2 DLC ones only I hope Moxxi makes it onto the list.
Roland and Lilith yes, but when were Axton and Maya teased? Maya, as far as this wiki and the Valentines' Day DLC seem to indicate, is asexual AF.
I mean... agree or disagree Athena exists.
Spoiler for The Pre Sequel and Tales from the Borderlands but she hooks up with Janey Springs after the first, and marries her in the good optimal ending of the latter.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!if your talking about Athena she is a protagonist in the the pre sequel she is also the one telling the story to the other vault hunters. what do you mean by "practicing"
In my defense, I never played all of the extra DLC for Pre-Sequel (or the other games, really; somehow or another, I never seem to hit the right point on the scaling curve and I essentially number lock myself out of progress), and I haven't played Tales just yet. It's good to hear about Athena, though!
^As in, she only has a girlfriend after the story for Pre-Sequel concludes, I assume.

It's been fun.I highly recommend Tales from the Borderlands if you ever get the chance. ^_^ It has little choice but to tell a decent story - working off a franchise that was mostly "shoot, stab, run to the waypoint" for most of its life, and being a narrative-focused game - I was surprised with how much I adored the cast by the end of it.
You can even kind of skip the Pre Sequel, as long as you know what happened in Borderlands 2.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Oh yeah, I've played both. That's what I mean - I'm recalling she's only decisively a lesbian after the game where she's a protagonist ends (though I don't remember all of the dialogue, and thus I could be only imagining that Athena's responses to Janey hitting on her were only embarrassment), and into another game where she is not a protagonist.
The line of conversation I'm going through makes me want to attest that Athena is one of my favourites of the Vault Hunters.
...Ok no, I can, it's definitely some sort of Distracted by the Sexy thing.

You know, I always thought Athena and Janey would be cute together. I played Athena for Pre-Sequel, so I got a chance to see them interact a fair bit.
And yeah, I definitely intend to play/read Tales soon. I bought it four (!!) years ago, but never got around to it. With 3 announced for sure now, though, I finally have the excuse I needed. I've seen the imaginary shootout scene on Youtube, and if the whole game has writing like that, then I need to play it yesterday.
It's been fun.Tales was made long Telltales meltdown so yeah it’s pretty good.
One thing I’m looking forward too is how the games have stopped making the players Silent Protagonists starting in the final DLC for 2.
So I’m really hoping how the PC’s interact with the story now.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Oh yeah, if their writing advances at least the same rate as that, it's gonna be amazing.
Yeah, the advance in story from 1 to 2 was amazing. Pre-Sequel was okay on that front - certainly funny, but it didn't feel as big an improvement. It also wasn't the main studio, though. The sequence in 2 where you free Angel was hugely impactful, though. I found myself legitimately moved by a plot point in Borderlands, which I had thought was probably impossible before that.

It's been fun.I can agree on the writing in the Pre-Sequel, but I still loved the game for its Vault Hunters' gameplay. Only Gaige and Krieg (who I'll admit I didn't actually play him) seemed to come close to me with regards to interesting skills.
I really like how the Vault Hunters spoke & interacted in the Pre-Sequel.
It reached its zenith in the Claptrap expansion if you are playing as Claptrap because poor guy really had a lot to say about what happened.
Also Willhelm’s skill tree specifically the cyborg branches where he visibly becomes more robotic & even gets a deeper robot voice.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Am I the only one that saw a 'life partner' non-sexual relationship between Krieg and Maya? And I think I saw a mutual respect based something spark between Axton and Moxxi, and them both filling in parent figures for Gaige. I should replay it all...
This trailer maps almost 1 to 1 with the leak we got a while ago. Not spoiling anything, tho.
Sqeeeeeeee, Borderlands 3 finally in sight.
“You can’t be an important and life-changing presence for some people without also being a joke and embarrassment to others.” -Mark Manson.Krieg is explicitly attracted to Maya, but he's too mentally unstable to express it properly, and I guess Maya tolerates his brutality because she's not all that different, and he mostly targets the bad guys. It's a one-sided crush, barring anything they said during the DLC's I didn't play.
Krieg is a boiling pot of rage and Maya has a god complex, so it all evens out platonically.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!There wasn't much about how 2's group interacted with each other. Krieg definitely has a one-sided crush on Maya, but we don't know much about how she felt about him other than the fact that she didn't directly reciprocate. I've seen Axton/Gaige paired in fanfics a lot, but in canon she has a hefty one-sided crush on Hammerlock. I guess in the Pre-Sequel they were sent on a mission together, but that doesn't say much; it was mostly used to further more of the Axton/turret ship.
Huh never knew Axton/Gaige was a thing.
Amusingly the Pre-Sequel cast has a clearer dynamic in that they don't like each other for the most part but are willing to work together & having varying feelings towards Claptrap from like/toletence to ouright hatred.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I think one of the characters we see near the beginning is Vaughn.
Vaughn
Vaughn actually turned into a badass by the end. He'd be a great Vault Hunter!
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!This has been a very piss poor reveal so far. Them looking at the teaser and just pointing what we've already seen. Indicating some characters are in the game, but no details on whos playable, gameplay, or anything so far...
So, apparently it's next week? XD
Nvm, misunderstood someone else's post. Disregard this.

Borderlands 3 Reveal Trailer
There's also going to be an Ultra 4HD (or whatever it's called) version of The Handsome Collection and a remastered version of the first Borderlands game. They both include 4-player couch co-op, and the latter will get some cosmetic additions like new skins and heads for the playable characters. Both titles launch on the 3rd, with Ultra HD coming as a free update for those that already own The Handsome Collection.
It's kind of funny. I just spent the last month and a half completing Borderlands 2 and the Pre-Sequel with my brothers, so getting a newer version of the first game and knowing BL 3 will be out later makes me pretty happy.
As far as the trailer is concerned, I'm mostly interested in seeing how these new Vault Hunters play, so I can't really say which one looks most interesring to me. Since, well, they all look interesting to me.
My previous characters were Gaige (though I'm currently going through a playthrough as Krieg) and Aurelia (doing a 2nd run as Dopple Jack as well), and in the BL series I think I prefer characters with good Elemental Effect interactions and some sort of "pet" like Deathtrap (which is why I think I might play Mordecai in the first game if I get it), so I guess whomever among the new Vault Hunters ticks those boxes will appeal to me the most.
Moxxi is in the trailer around the place where it starts zooming out to show the mask itself - when you see the new Siren on the General Grievous wheel-bike, you can see Moxxi's bar in the upper left corner with a woman who is presumably Moxxi herself standing on the roof.
Personally, I'm hoping for the Soldier and the Siren to have some ship tease. We had Roland and Lilith in the first game, Axton and Maya in the second; it's about time we had some badass lesbian protagonists in this series.
It's been fun.
