From the LN spoilers I've seen, it only gets even worse from here.

Hell, the Author actually downplayed Betelgeuce torturing Rem because it would have been too gruesome for braodcast tv, due to being at the helm of this episode.

Apparently, starting with this arc, there's a new director taking charge who is a critically acclaimed award winning diector for sci-fi stuff at the helm now, hence the whole Movie like credits at the end of 15.

I heard that the next arc is going to get Berzerk Levels of dark..... I can't even imagine something like that...

At this point I think I've been completely engulfed by Darkness-Induced Audience Apathy, so I'm probably going to wait until it's done airing before watching any more of it, to skip all the cliffhangers and see if there's any point to all this suffering in the end. Assuming it's not a Gecko Ending, that is...

See, this series makes a lot more sense if you look at Subaru playing an extreme version of Dark Souls. He's even got his own bonefire points.

Cuz he mutilated a waifu I'm guessing :V

If it gets Abridged someone is making that joke, I swear.

I like how Episode 13 just kinda tore the base on Subaru's character.

I think that the author even stated that that was his intent.

Well, he was called one of the most sadistic authors in the LN community.

Still kinda feel sorry for the characters, though. 'Specially for Subaru. RIP his sanity.

Anyone else liked the scene at the end with the Snow Covering subaru's beheaded body as the credits rolled? Pretty damn beautiful, if tragic, atmosphere.

That head rolling off can easily be comical if not accompanied by the atmosphere, which this show is really good at building.

Yeah, if it was any other show, it would be funny.

Some can still find humor, though in a dark way.

Also, loved the way credits rolled. I'ver never seen an anime do that. Ever.

Thinking about it I think it resembled the end of Fate/Zero's flashback arc that showed Kerry's tragic backstory, but other than that nothing.

The only time I see an anime roll credits that way is in a movie, but this was definitely something I've never seen for a series.

Masterful, I can see this series having a massive impact ala Madoka Magica or Evangelion had for their respective genre's of anime and manga.

It was honestly one of the best directed episodes of animation I've seen, and that's not an exaggeration.

The final shot where you see Subaru's eyes... dang.

Yeah.

On many sites i've where people give user rating,s the bump is also gigantic, usually something only reserved for a series finale episode thats good.

I think it was the first time that I saw him actually get mad. Not the getting-pissed-of-all-this-dying-and-shit type, but the actual I'M-GONNA-MURDER-YOU-YOUR-FAMILY-AND-YOUR-PUPPY type of rage.

He ain't gonna get real powers for a while though, but the preview for the next episode is out.

And if you thought he got mad at the end of this episode.....

Started watching the first episode. I really liked how Subaru thinks he's now a typical LN protagonist only to have nothing go his way. The dynamic he's making with Emilia is also entertaining on its own.

Fun fact: The finale to Arc 3 in the Light Novel was so controversial, so heartbreaking, and so angering of the otaku community that the light novels temporarilily had a drastic drop in sales, something that's extremely rare for a series.

It basically became the light novel equivalent of Evangelion when it came to fanboy rage.

Subaru's come an interesting way due the the developments with Rem and Ram. Living with Roswaal in general made him and his interactions with Emilia richer because he's learning more while screwing up. Rem and Ram in general where more than the gag I thought they were gonna be, which I'm thankful for. Beatrice doesn't interest me in the slightest though, even while keeping in mind she's not a bad character per say.
