You know, Cheryl being into girls certainly puts her disgust at Betty and Veronica's shock value kiss in the first episode in a new light.
She was hardly disgusted. She responded with boredom. Which also fits.

The Protomen enhanced my life.*reads Variety article*
Yay! Crazy-Ex Girlfriend got renewed. Oh yeah and Riverdale...
Okay, no, all jokes aside. I am genuinely happy the show got renewed (to the surprise of absolutely no one). I just really hope the creators consider doing a shorter, more focused and consistent third season. This show really went off the rails but it's not beyond fixing.

Does CW even do shorter seasons? What's the shortest a CW has run for?
Crazy Ex Girlfriend and Legends of Tomorrow have pretty short seasons, ranging from 13 -18 episodes a season.
Riverdale is a mystery/teen drama, meaning that it has the potential to drag very easily (and it has). Season One may have had its flaws, but it was very well paced. It never really felt directionless or contrived in the way that this season has.

That's gotta be seen.
Wake me up at your own risk.Carrie...the Musical.
That is such an amazingly awful idea.
And it was amazingly awful but in a can't take my eyes off it car wreck sort of way.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.I'm just happy that the Black Hood is back. Hopefully things will pick up now for the remainder of the season.
But yeah, doing a Carrie-themed musical seemed really random. I'm not sure what to make of the episode itself.

Why the hell did Midge have to die?
I liked it better when Questionable Casting was called WTH Casting AgencyIt's more insane that all of the songs are from a real life musical version of Carrie.
One of the worst ideas of all time.
But which someone else had.
Mind you'd I'd buy the soundtrack for this episode.
Also, now I'm inclined to look up whether Jim Steinman was involved because I swear the lyrics for the World according to Chris are transplanted to a different beat for the ending to Dance of the Vampires.

Nope.
"Carrie: The Musical is a musical with a book by Lawrence D. Cohen, lyrics by Dean Pitchford, and music by Michael Gore. "
The Protomen enhanced my life. That's what I was saying. It's insane that Carrie the Musical is a real thing.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.Aww, I'm a bit disappointed Midge went after so little screen-time.
But hey, insane Cheryl is back and Archie and his Dad made up, so not all is bad.
"But if that happened, Melia might actually be happy. We can't have that." - Handsome Rob-“Thespian terrorism”? Cheryl’s dialogue makes me wonder if the writers have actually heard teenagers speak.
-Speaking of teenagers, why was Veronica giving Chuck a lap dance? Why was Veronica allowed to give Chuck a lap dance?
-I know she’s part of a gang and Penelope is easily the least sympathetic adult on this show next to Hiram but Toni was way to casual about her girlfriend telling her she burned her own house down and cut off her mother’s oxygen supply.
-I’m actually starting to see Alice as a person this season. Great job show.
-Also good job making Chuck likable. It would have been very easy to have him backslide after what Cheryl did to him. Though is he really just no longer a pariah just like that? Won't Ethel or any of the other girls he was a jerk to have something to say about that?
-Gotta love a teenager played by a 25 year old talking about age appropriate casting. And then he casts Josie as a gym teacher making me wonder how old he thinks his potential step sister is.
I found Alice pretty loathsome at the beginning of the show (which was the point, I'm sure), but she's since grown into one of my favourite characters. Great job show indeed. Also, Hal finally did something likeable for a change.
I've personally found it hard to move past that first impression we got of Alice.
I feel like they've given a few of her traits a soft retcon at this point, but I still am not much of a fan of hers.
"But if that happened, Melia might actually be happy. We can't have that." - Handsome RobI think Alice has at least some genuine personality disorders.
But the best summary of her is she has the emotional maturity of a 15 year old.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.Admittedly, I've always been a sucker for the "Jerkass who slowly reforms" character archetype.
Alice was kind of in the same boat as Cheryl for me. It always seemed like her influence on the plot, personality, or her character decisions would depend strongly on the writer. They seem to change from episode to episode.
Also, if anyone is willing, I genuinely would like to know: has this season gotten at least a little better? I'm willing to jump back into now that I'm getting a bit more free time, but I'm trying to decide between catching up on this or Legends of Tomorrow instead.
That is a very easy decision. Legends. Legends has had a really strong season.
Yeah, I figured as much. I would only be watching for Kevin and Cheryl anyway.
The recent episode is the most enjoyable the show has been in a long time. Though that isn't saying much.
Mind you, Riverdale did do a very spot-on racial thing with Josie's dad.
"A black man who is very concerned about the destruction of jazz!"
Relevant only in the fact La La Land was about to win an oscar but oh so liberating.
