General E3 Thread

It's media eating itself. But then again it is hard to do the OTT crazy these days. SS was an absolute blast - huge maps, crazy guns, HUGE ENEMIES and a worn out mouse button.

The sequels got a bit... too involved with their silliness. My friends and I blitzed Coop on SS 1. Great times.

But never finished 2, haven't tried 3. Keeps popping up in my steam list though so maybe I should give it a whirl.

Wolfenstein... maybe. My wife loves co-op games but I think it's too "warry" and gritty. She likes Borderlands as it was the first game we co-oped together and was fun, colourful.

The only SS games I appreciate and will play em lots are the very first releases back in 2001 and 2002.

Serious Sam 2 is... well, very colorful? I appreciate that. But it's not what devs wanted. Game took silliness too far. Serious Sam 3 BFE is supposed to be a return to form but levels are mostly a slog/too closed in, you can sprint and aim down the sights ffs and colors are so washed out. And BFE went in the complete opposite direction of SS 2, taking seriousness/grittiness too far. I like the tone of TFE and TSE the most.

Oh yeah, I had a lot of fun with Next Encounter spin-off for PS 2/GC, maybe because I like the run n gun nature of it. Scoring feels more meaningful, I remember doing every level eventually on Serious to get as many points as possible and score gold medals.

...that said, my PS 2 disc was... uhhh, damaged? Scratched? Music was fucked up, I had to shut it off and I never, ever could make it past last level of Ancient Rome where you pick a mega heart to fight off boss. Eh. Oh yeah lots of freezing, thankfully not during missions, mostly when you're loading into the next.

Well I still hope Croteam does something meaningful because Serious Sam 4 is a prequel to Serious Sam 3 which is a prequel to the first two encounters. Man it's like they're reluctant to finish off the story in a meaningful way and that Serious Sam 2 remake they said they have plans for is taking its sweet time.

Nintendo's E3 site has been updated for 2019. Nothing majorly new other than the Smash Ultimate and Splatoon 2 World Championships on Saturday, June 8th.

EDIT: Also, this will be Nintendo's first E3 without Reggie Fils-Amie since 2003.

PC Gaming Show, June 10th, 10am PDT.

June is the 6th month, and 10 is binary for two. There are two 10's (2's) in the date and 6/2 is 3.

Half Life 3 confirmed!

The PC showcase, to my knowledge, has never been worth watching.

They showed a couple interesting things last time, Satisfactory being the only one I really remember

I remember last year it was kinda worth watching, but it was the only conference I skipped. Can't remember if it was by choice or not, tbh.

After last year, my hopes aren't too high for SE. Hopefully they don't do something like show The Quiet Man 2 and more trailers everyone has already seen

SE - until they actually do Deus Ex 3 (Of the new games) then I'm not particularly enthused. But SE EU are apparently an awful element of the wider company so it's unlikely to happen.

Even if they could coast in on the Cyberpunk cache...

Well Sony isn't doing a conference so theres at least some trailers SE can save for themselves, I can also only assume we'll finally see or hear something about that Avengers game they've had Crystal Dynamics working on. And Babylon's Fall, of course.

At the very least, we're getting a Direct as usual, right? It's been quite a long time since I got so interested in what Nintendo possibly has in store for an E3.

I wonder if Sony is going to be taking a leaf out of Nintendo's book, and do one of those "state of play" things?

I know I'm hyped for The Whispering Woman.

Not going to lie, The Whispering Woman sounds like a good title for a horror game.

Second hand from a Reuters reporter from Nintendo's financial earning release, Nintendo will not be showing off new hardware at E3.

Expected. Their E3 was already expected to be packed and that also goes along with the recent rumors about a smaller revision coming at the end of June, if they are true.

Dying Light 2 will be at this year's E3.

Shenmue 3 will be playable at E3, but only for press.
