Hopefully they will focus on lesser villains, like maybe you have to track down Calendar Man/Holiday

Yeah and the player has to actually solve riddles lol. My favorite part of Arkham Knight was when Catwoman finally pointed out that race tracks and obstacles courses weren't riddles hahaha

I hope the continuity is set a few years into Batman's career, so we can see a bunch of villains. I would love for Peyton Riley/Ventriloquist II to show up with Scarface, for example.

[up] Hey, that's a good point.

We don't know exactly when does this take place. Does it take place during Batman's early years? Or how about when people know him better?

What if each episode after the first has a time skip that shows Batman in a different scenario, if that makes sense?

Telltale doesn't really do action well, so I don't think we need a Big Bad that can fight Batman evenly.

My pick would be Black Mask.

they've got to have a section in the Asylum, so you can at least run into various villains.

Great White Shark would be interesting. He's like the accountant/money laundry guy I think. You can track him down to financially cripple the various gangs...kind of like in Dark Knight actually lol.

I still think Hush would be a good Big Bad for this, because he fits the Telltale final villain quota.

I like how creepy Mad Hatter has gotten in recent years, maybe they can have Batman to race to figure out where he is hiding and rescue "Alice" from him.

[up][up]Hush would be interesting, they could have something similar to Bruce Wayne: Fugitive going on.

The Court of Owls could work as the evil villain lurking in the shadows the whole time that Telltale loves.

The Riddler is practically made for an Adventure game, and Cluemaster even moreso, so if we don't see one of those two they'll definitely have missed an opportunity.

[up]They might have an issue of Only Smart People May Pass, Telltale has been trying to be more mainstream but I would love Batman games to have more puzzles

[up][up]OH if Cluemaster shows up, they have to have Stephanie Brown!

A plot in which Batman has to find and decipher Stephanie's "spoilers" for Cluemaster's clues would be awesome, especially if it's actually possible to follow Cluemaster's scheme on your own only to discover that he doesn't play fair.

Again, based on the aesthetic, don't expect anyone too out there. Joker, Penguin, Riddler.

With the biggest complaint about the Arkham games bing "Too much Joker", Telltale should know better than to make him the Big Bad.

Penguin would be a good choice. Black Mask too. They have been awesome but under-utilized in Arkham.

Still, it would just seem like too much of the same. Batman has dozens of good villains, but they just use the same ones over and over.

It would be interesting to see Deacon Blackfire or even the Mad Monk.

Going back to it being a mystery, Abattoir would be a nice choice for a serial killer.

It depends on what the themes are for the game. And Telltale is one for themes.

Personally, I'd say end the game off on a mild 'Sequel Hook' that suggests the Joker has arrived. Just a small little nod, enough to make the fanboys cream themselves, and roll credits.

As for story, I get the impression Telltale is going to do 'Early Batman'. Like, Origin Story style. Which, since we're getting RP playability here, that might not be so bad. Plus, there's some good opportunities to explain why Batman doesn't have his A-Game because of player mistakes; they haven't been the Batman for long.

Where as the Arkham games were combat heavy, I'd like to see Telltale to a lot of detective work and solving puzzles and situations. Less combat stuff. Go along the route of Wolf Among Us.

In terms of villain line up, I'd like to see Catwoman show up in an Anti-Hero role (playable?). I think the main villain should be Riddler since that'd go back to the old school point and click roots of Telltale and its a nice opportunity. He's also one of the few villains that isn't a physical threat to Batman. Penguin would also be a good choice of someone who stands no physical threat to Batman. Maybe Mad Hatter?

Deep down, I'd like to see what Telltale could do with Talia in there somewhere. And I'd like to see Harvey Dent show up and be a supporting role to ground the Bruce Wayne portions of the game.

However, after Telltale's Game of Thrones... Telltale has shaken my faith in their ability.

Yeah, Walking Dead Season 2 and Game of Thrones had moments that were...not as good as they could have been. Hopefully an IP as important as Batman will get them back on their A-Game.

If they do early Batman, then yeah I would like to see a Long Halloween style of story; establishing his friendships with Gordon and Dent, the fall of the mafia due to Batman's efforts coupled with the rise of the "freaks" to fill the void.

But I would prefer there to be at least some established relationships. Maybe they can find a middle ground and have it during the time period that Jason Todd was Robin, to tie into the new cinematic universe (I hear they're doing Red Hood for the solo Batman movie) as well as coming off of Arkham Knight

Do we need a supervillain? How about just Batman and Carmine Falcone? That requires actual detective work because Carmine isn't planning to poison Gotham's water supply (seriously, Gotham should treat its water treatment plant like Fort Knox). He's just stealing and murdering and getting away with it.

Something that requires Batman to use his BRAIN. He's not going to be able to walk in, beat the shit out of Carmine's goons and smack him around and hand him off to the police. Ain't gonna work that way.

I say yet again, if we're not facing off against Batman's supervillains, and are just investigating the mob, then this may as well be a second season of The Wolf Among Us.

Batman's villains are what set this apart from the other noir detective series Telltale has.

No. That's where the mistake is made. Then you have Villain of the Week with Batman Returns and Batman & Robin. It's not about the villains. It's about how Batman copes with villainy. It doesn't have to be a monster clown.

Just look at the clusterfucks that the last few Spider-Man films were.

It's more meaningful when it's regular people, not psychopaths.

Because the Falcone crime family aren't nearly as Iconic and are kind of nitche compared to the likes of... basically everyone else in the Rogues Gallery. Even Calendar Man has his fans. Carmine Falcone... He and his family just aren't quite as colorful as, say, Bloody Mary (TWAU) or Vallory and her gang (TFTB) or Harley Quinn.

Not having a supervillain show up as at least a bodyguard or assassin would be such a waste.

Batman has the best villains in comics. Their being twisted reflections or contrasts of Batman is an important and central theme.

The Riddler as the Big Bad sounds like the best idea, that way Telltale remains in their element: puzzle solving through interaction with the environment.

This could even allow the Riddler to manipulate other members of Batman's Rogues Gallery without knowing it, so something like each episode could have 1 other bat villain in it.

[up] Oooh, like a Hush adaptation?

Also, doing a middle ground between supervillains and the mob is what Black Mask is for. Falcone is largely representative of "what Gotham was like before Batman came along and changed everything" - interesting though he can be under a good writer, he and his fellow Gotham mob characters are made to be supplanted as times change, and my main criticism of "early Batman" settings is that they lend themselves to telling the same kind of story again and again.
