Does Not Illustrate: Sound Stone

The current image, despite being from the Trope Namer, does not illustrate the trope that well. All it does is tell using a text box instead of show, and text boxes without the subject shown aren't really fit for the job.

As a possible replacement, maybe Link playing the Song of Time on the Ocarina of Time in Majora's Mask◊?

I guess 1 works, but it would be even better if he was either shown learning the song or using it to activate something.

In the game in question, he uses the standard version of that song to return to the first day, as such◊. Image here is of the transition.

When I get a chance, I'll combine it with the OP and see what you guys think.

Made the second panel the same size, the idea of 6.

Use whatever version you want.

I think the same-sized panel version looks much better.

There seems to be more than one trope that 11 applies to.

Sound Stone vs. Magic Music vs. Musical Trigger

If that's the case, would it be better for Magic Music, since my proposal involved playing a song? Then we can find something else for Sound Stone?

I think that's a good idea.

I asked around for the laconics:

• Sound Stone: A plot-critical musical item or song.
• Magic Music: Magic in general that works through music.
• Musical Trigger: Playing some certain music triggers something to happen. (Such as a bomb to go off.)
• Songs in the Key of Lock: Subtrope of Musical Trigger. The way to open a door is by playing the correct melody, etc.

If I understand the image in 11 correctly, it would fits best under Musical Trigger.

So we need a 'here learn this song it will be useful later' picture for this? Hmm that might be hard.

I agree that 11 works better on Musical Trigger and to keep looking for Sound Stone. Magic Music should be a lot easier to illustrate than either:

1, 2, 3, 4◊, 5◊.
