I'm kind of hating how the Fandom tends to reduce Marinette to Adrien's emotional support person. It was okay in the beginning, but I'm noticing it over and over again from all kinds of different people and it just bothers me to no end. Because women as men's emotional support is such a common trope. Like when Leia supported Luke in episode IV, even though they barely met and she just had her Flippin world blown up.

For the show, it's mostly Cat Noir who acts as a support for Ladybug, especially during the season's finales.

Man, I just realized that people were thinking Chloe would be like Pacifica,Amity and other characters who fit those archetypes, but she didn't and so that's why people were missed at her lack of redemption. The same kind of occurred with Andrea from Molly Mcgee, where people where expecting her to be another Amity, but that didn't happen.

It’s cause the reasoning for her turning bad for good, that Hawk Moth knew her real identity, Put her in danger, felt like really weak reasoning. Especially when she gave the same miraculous to people who also had their identities revealed the season before all over again.

It feels like Marinette had no trust or faith in Chloe and that was the real reason she refused to trust her with it, and it rubs people that way.

Now I’m not a fan of Chloe myself, but I could see that perspective especially when Season 4 came out.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.

Part of the issue with Chloe wasn’t just a matter of expectations, but the handling of her character too. Most of the other characters it’s clear what the writers want them for. For Chloe they very much brings up the idea she could reform her, but then proceed to backpedal on it which isn’t helped by the weird point of hypocrisy that wasn’t really addressed.

Using the ones mentioned as an example, even people that believe Hirsch didn’t Pacifica plan on giving depth initially what she did get was well received. Amity runs into complaints of moving from being a mean girl too quickly (and cleanly), but overall like her character and her relationship with Luz. From what I remember Andrea has the benefit of being less actively malicious (despite being a the antagonist at times) along with show being sympathetic towards her at times.

As a Chloe fan the issue is that they halfassed her arc. Like I get that the creator doesn't think she's should be redeemed, but in that case the show should've never teased a redemption for her. Either that or put in the actual work to do it right. Instead what we got is a sloppy arc where she goes from refusing to become akumatized because of her faith in Ladybug and being fine with her not being able to be Queen Bee all the time (Miracular) to her deciding to go along with being akumatized/siding with Hawk Moth after all because Ladybug didn't give her a miraculous one too many times (Heart Hunters). It's bad writing.

My thing with Heart Hunters is that pretty much spells out that Marinette’s decision to not choose Chloe was wrong, and I don’t think it was ever actually acknowledged.

[up][up] There's merit in doing a "we tried to redeem her and failed" arc. The Order of the Stick did one version with Miko. But so much of Chloe's arc feels like the writers flubbed it instead of intentionally sending a message of "not everyone successfully grasps redemption."

[up] Also, that. Again, it's perfectly fine to have flawed heroes. Having Ladybug's mistrust of Chloe accidentally drive her further into villainy would be a good plot for both of them. But the show didn't acknowledge it.

There's also the disconnect with how she was portrayed in Season 2 and in the Season 3 finale. She wasn't a great hero and she messed up, but she also had times when she came through and showed signs of improvement and becoming a hero who helps because she wants to help people. Post-Season 3, Ladybug straight up says that Chloe was just a disaster as a hero.

Pre-Miracle Queen Chloe also had the interesting dynamic where she truly thought she was a good person, she didn't realize she wasn't because her values were so warped thanks to her privilege and her mother's influence. She was starting to realize that and actually called out her mother for being a bad person, but then in Miracle Queen and after, she pretty much just decides that she's on the villain side and has no pretenses of being a hero. Which reduces her to Diet Lila.

It seems that the Brazilian network Gloob is getting the Season 5 premiere next Monday. English subs are in the video bar.

Yeah. Hopefully America gets it soon. We got season 4 almost 3 months after it started airing in Brazil and almost 2 after it started airing in France. Hopefully we don't have to wait as long this time.

Anyone wanna skim real quick over Scorpion 2021's recent wave of edits on Recap.Miraculous Ladybug S 04 E 26 Strike Back Shadow Moths Final Attack Part 2? They feel a bit salty but we're not sure if they cross the line or not.

The only one that strikes me as outright wrong is the one that implies that the Guardian being the only one to distribute Miraculouses was Marinette's idea.

I wondered on this very thread why Hawk Moth doesn't go back in time and save his wife, and they answer that in the first episode of the season, sweet.

There's no way the writing team didn't see this question coming. If they'd done anything but address it in the very first episode — even with just a cheap "nope that won't work cause magibabble" Hand Wave — the fanbase would riot. Any fanbase would riot, not just the notoriously-salty Miraculous fanbase.

Evolution was really about Gabriel evolving from an (arguable) sympathetic bad guy to a full-blown villain, who abandoned any chance for his happiness just to get back at the heroes. That Shredder-level crazy.

I love it. As weird as that is to say.

There has. Show's bible which has been updated up to Season 5. It doesn't contain like, everything everything, but there is, for example, some info about how the season will end.

Well it's interesting. Having checked. Mind you there's some weird stuff in it. But one I really don't like and hope isn't true.

It's on Disney+ I think. Which I'm pretty sure doesn't have the previous seasons.

Yeah, I had a similar confusing case. I started watching on Netflix and got up to the end of Season 3. Only a while later did I find out Disney+ has the first four seasons. It is a bit weird as that means the first three seasons are on both services currently and that's pretty uncommon. D+ also has Shanghai and New York, and some websiodes I didn't bother watching (UK, not sure if different in other countries).

I feel that they really dumbed down Lila in Risk, like why is she still trying to impress Adrien with lies when not only does he know that she's a liar, but he's also completely fed up with her by now ? And why is she still interested in Adrien anyway, I thought the image of "the perfect boyfriend she could manipulate to her heart's content" she had for him should've crumbled by now. The show usually tries to sell her as some sort of master manipulator, but in this episode she really was portrayed as just a delusional mean girl.

Also her plot in the S4 finale was really pointless considering that she didn't even get to do anything in Strikeback except to smirk sadistically at Nathalie when she was losing it, they could've just had Chloe fill in her role of the civilian antagonist like she essentially did for the entire season lmao and nothing would've really changed ( and yeah, I know Chloe isn't working for Gabriel like Lila is, but she probably could've got Audrey to convince Gabriel to take her on the trip with Adrien ).
