"We tried contacting her over the channel, and got no response. We don't even know if she's listening" Tuudol told Ben before he walked away, then looked to Sans. "You think we should invite the whole alliance? Some of them have barely even spoken with Silanea" the wood elf mentioned to him.

Thomas stood there for a moment, not following Ben yet as he walked away. "... It was still rather rude of you to talk bad about Ben behind his back while I was standing right there" Thomas said simply to Sans, with his slightly judgemental expression. Though with no apparent desire to continue that discussion, he then turned away and followed after Ben.

Meanwhile, Miss Tairee 1 continued to stare at Soldier, the only change to her expression being her eyebrows raising slightly, before she simply stated, "ah." She took a moment to compose herself, and face towards Soldier directly. "Your universe is what your, 'God's green earth' is inside of. It is everything you know of that exists; well, until now, technically" Miss Tairee 1 told him, keeping her attention directly towards him as she let one of her less-busy copies do the typing work.

"It seems this 'Merasmus' is with... Some of your teammates if I'm not mistaken; about to look into a crystal ball trying to find you. It won't work for him of course, but that's another matter" Miss Tairee 1 then informed Soldier. "Today you are allowed one single message to someone in your home universe, and you will not be allowed another one for five more days. You could use it to contact Merasmus if you'd like, unless there's somebody else you'd rather talk to instead" the librarian suggested to him.

Then she glanced over at Ben leaning against the desk, as another of copies typed something on a holographic screen. "Message for you, Ben" Miss Tairee 1 said simply, as a note appeared in front of Ben with a blur, floating in place until he took it. Once he got around to reading it, he'd see:

Benjamin Kirby Tennyson;

The dramatic timing of the announcement of Rex's agreement was rather amusing, but ultimately a coincidence; I simply had the announcement made immediately after Rex agreed to my challenge, and he happened to agree to my challenge right as you were making your speech in the stadium. Of course perhaps I'm lying; though I would point out the meaninglessness of writing a response to you only to lie to you, when instead I could simply not bother and let you rage in futility against someone who might as well not be present.

I do not doubt your skills and abilities, Ben. But a fight between you and I would not even go as you might think. By now, between hints and outright statements, you should be aware that my assistant is incapable of defeating me. Perhaps if you can manage to defeat her, I will entertain your desire for a fight and allow you to challenge me directly.

Of course beneath that was the usual multi-dimensional scribble that Ben couldn't read and would give him a headache to look at for long.

Miss Tairee 2, being nearby now, took to addressing Lewis' question. "My boss has decided it is time for me to make more information regarding myself available; particularly my past, from before I started working for him" Miss Tairee 2 told the ghost.

Over at a certain crowded couch, another of Miss Tairee calmly approached. "Were any of you still waiting for a chance to get a message home?" Miss Tairee 7 asked, looking between Caro, Cole, and Arf. She didn't glance at Fate or Arcade, since they already got messages home.

Somewhere in the streets

Silanea moved back slightly, looking at Rex with a sort of uncomfortable suspicion. "I'd rather not talk about it right now" Silanea muttered, then followed after Curly.

Seiga, The Library
"...I didn't mean a date. I'm married, my friend," Seiga matter-of-factly said. Wow, was she coming on that strong just now? Okay, Seiga, just because you found an interesting normal person doesn't mean you need to go full ham.

Proceeding to go full ham, Seiga decided it was time to become a tour guide. "I just meant a simple day on the town. Doing whatever fits our fancy. If that fancy is 'me telling you everything I know about this town, history and inhabitants' is your fancy, then yes, we can do that too. Also, I have no idea what a megascope is."

Yoshika, With a Book About Herself
Her tag? She had a tag? In her mind, she raced to figure out what Jack meant by a "tag." She reached for her forehead to wipe away at imaginary sweat, brushing her tag in the process, when she-OH. Oh. That.

...She's always known it was there. Seiga would even write orders on the backside for her to read. But at the same time, until this moment, it seemed like there was something keeping her from noticing it, or caring about it. If it did exist, which the Yoshika of the past wasn't sure of, it didn't change anything. Yoshika has always had a piece of paper stuck to her face. That's normal.

Like Jack said, removing this would remove her ability to control her. Her hand hovered at it, grasping...but not yet tearing. It wasn't supernatural, but something felt wrong yet still about taking it. Defiling it.

Yoshika stopped with this whole Chinese Kick-Me-Note Sign problem, and tried to reply to Jack to the best of her abilities.

"I asked if I could tell the City about Seiga's 'great feats', and he granted me this so I could tell them about me. I'm...one of her accomplishments to him, it sounds like." She paused again, and hesitantly added "...Could one of you take it off instead?"

Lucas's eyes widened a bit out of surprise when he saw Jack take out the book. Why hadn't he thought of that? Of course looking in the library for helpful knowledge would be a good idea! Well, aside from the hermit who might still be there. If it was as simple as pulling off the tag, Lucas figured this could be easier than he expected. If it was harmful to Yoshika, they wouldn't even be able to do it today, removing all risk of something going wrong from removing it due to some knowledge unknown to them.

The dead girl seemed surprised by the very existence of the tag on her face... and she seemed to be having trouble getting rid of it. Well, if she couldn't do it herself, Lucas was happy to help. He walked over directly in front of her and said "Alright, let me try this." And then, he would attempt to rip it off.

Library - lack of communication

"i mean, just tell them what's the purpose behind this party and see who is interested in helping. not everyone needs to go," Sans told Tuudol.

The kid from yesterday then showed up and was seemingly still upset for that phone call from yesterday, but seemed to be trying to follow Ben's example. Well then, that was something at least.

"anyways," said Sans as he turned back to his fellow NHA members, "i have some people waiting on me and i shouldn't hold them up for too long. i'll try to find silanea while i'm hanging out outside. see you guys later"

He then walked back over to Caro and the others. Apparently some things happened in the meantime considering Caro was hugging Cole. He tried not to think much about it, whatever was going on he thought Caro could handle it.

"aight guys, i think i'm pretty much done. you guys ready?" He asked them

Arcade listened to the plot dump silently, only changing expression to be more skeptical as the stories progressed. Showing up on the horror day made his opinions of the City the opposite of Arf's, so Caro's explanation simply reinforced much of what he was seeing.

"I see, this deity believes that we're Europa, and giving us a kingdom allows..." Arcade hesitated to describe what actually happens in Greek mythology, opting for, "him to hurt us badly." He crossed his arms as he contemplated what happened to Sans' world; should he try and use this opportunity to save his world? He considered his options as Tairee and Sans returned.

After Garrett had finished with his conversation, he sighed. Well, it was out of his hands now... though whether or not the Hammerites will manage to get rid of the Hag, Garrett was likely to be in serious trouble once he gets back, for disclosing Keeper secrets to another faction... Damn it, why did he have to get abducted into this City at that very moment? Granted, according to the reply from the Writer, the big guy wasn't at all concerned about the Hag continuing her streak of murders... the bastard probably thought it would be satisfactorily dramatic. What the hell kind of a guy was he, toying with real people's lives for sake of a good story?

Garrett descended back to the ground floor. He came back about in time to see Ghostfreak being literally thrown out from the library.

"Might as well get back to what I was doing yesterday..." he muttered, looking around for the table where he had left the laptop the previous day. Luckily, it seemed nobody had stolen it. Garrett sat down at the table and spent some time figuring out how to actually play the "video game".

After some time, however, he glanced up from the computer and saw a sign appear on one of the tables, promising "PLOT DETAILS". He raised his eyebrows, confused, but when Miss Tairee stated that she was going to reveal some of her past, a smile appeared on his face. "Interesting..." he whispered. "This might be useful." He stood up and approached the table with the sign, planning to listen carefully to whatever Tairee had to say... and possibly reveal about her enigmatic boss.

The library

The Writer's reply was in. Ben took the letter, and smirked a little at the header. The Writer wasn't showing it but he was mad, which he could tell because he used Ben's full name. His mom only called him "Benjamin Kirby Tennyson" when she was really mad at him. He continued to read the rest of the letter.

A coincidence. The timing of that announcement was a coincidence. Yeah right. Ben rolled his eyes and continued to read. His brow furrowed as the Writer began to brag about himself. A fight between you and I wouldn't go as you think it would. Which was 'smart bad guy talk' for "I'd totally beat you up in a fight".

He then got to the bottom, and he struggled not to rip the letter in half in anger. The Writer said that he might grant Ben a fight... if he beat up Miss Tairee first. Another one of his deals. A horrible one at that. Of course he would do that, make him fight someone he actually cared about, someone he was trying to save, before he got to the real villain. Ben glared at the signature, then crumpled up the letter.

"No more deals!!" Ben shouted at no one in particular, and threw the crumpled up letter. He overheard what Miss Tairee was talking about and he blinked, walking over to where Lewis was and he pulled himself up onto the desk.

Rick eyed the communications device with an experienced eye - while other recipients had received magic mirrors or parchments or what have you, Rick's particular iteration resembled small, flat, palm-sized rectangle with no clear buttons or visible control mechanisms. "Alright, *urp* thanks. I- I owe you one or whatever." He threw off a sloppy salute to whatever iteration of Tairee was currently serving him and slouched off to a nearby seat.

Rick raised an eyebrow as he waved his fingers in the general direction of said device, and was rewarded with a holographic screen, floating serenely in the air. Excitingly incomprehensible lines of alien numbers and scrolled across the screen before resolving themselves into a simple, crisp interface that wouldn't be out of place in some kind of Macintosh product. The interface might have even been crisper if it hadn't been for the main logo in the center of the screen depicting a greyish-yellow alien with a swollen head and froggy eyes excitingly using some kind of incomprehensible telecommunications system. The interface slid around, more data flashed up on the screen... and the holographic screen broke down into pixels and resolved itself into what looked like an apartment, or perhaps a small condominium.

In human terms, the apartment looked like what might have happened had Dr. Seuss worked at Petsmart and then gone into a career in architecture; smooth, lumpy lines met in exactly the wrong places, tufts of fur and dangling toys adorned random surfaces, and the furniture, which looked more like a jumbled series of cat apartments, seemed to have been molded into the weird, almost organic-looking contours of the room. A bay window beyond gave tantalizing glances at a truly alien world: a cityscape made up of the same bizarre architecture ,a deep turquoise sky, massive cucumber-like plants, taller than sequoias, dotted on the hills beyond.

"Rick? Rick Sanchez? came a thin, high-pitched voice from just offscreen. An orange, furry hand moved into frame, followed by an orange arm, which was connected to an orange creature that looked sort of what might have happened if a mangy alley cat, a mutant rat, and ALF had had a drunken three-way in a back alley. Said creature squinted at the screen and then grinned a broad, snaggletoothed grin. "Well, squanch me sideways! If it isn't Rick Sanchez! What's squanchin', you psycho bag of squanch?"

"Squanchyyyy!" Rick threw up a heavy metal devil horns at what was clearly his old friend. "What's up with you, huh? Haven't seen you since that party!"

"Oh, you know, a little a' this ,a little a' that," Squanchy shrugged noncommittally. "Not much squanchin 'on over in my neck of the squanch. How're the grandkids?"

"OH, you know, Morty's *urp* fine, say hi Morty!" Rick picked up the hologram projector and turned it over to Morty, who quickly realized that he was on camera and quickly crammed a book he was reading under the nearest table while kicking it away with his foot.

"Oh! Uh! H-hi, Squanchy." Morty tried not to remember what had gone down the last time he and Squanchy had crossed paths.

"Morty! Been a while. What's squanching with you?"

"Um... well... nothing, I guess..." Morty trailed off. "Wait, wait, wait. There is stuff going on! We're - we're trapped in some kind of alternate universe where we keep getting tortured by a shitty writer or something-" Whatever Morty was about to sya next was cut short as Rick grabbed the screen and turned it back to himself.

"Squanchy, I gotta *urp* be level with you here, w-w-we're in kind of a big situation here. This is a, a, a, r-class reality restructuring event, *urp* we-we've been transported b-beyond the finite curve and implanted into a pocket dimension built on an unstable torus loop of tenth-dimensional matter. Our, ahem, captor," he subtly turned the screen around to focus on one of the Miss Tairees "says we'll be out of here in another thirteen days but you and I both know that that's a load of horseshit."

Squanchy mulled this over. "Sounds like you're in some real deep squanch." he concluded.

"Squanchy, you don't even know the *urp* half of it. I spent ninety minutes this morning stuck in a shitty boat ride!"

"But Rick, what do you want me to do about it? You know that Squanch is a Fed world. I can't just..." Squanchy waved his paws in the air as he fumbled for th enext word. "... grab a portal gun off the blackmarket anymore, not since the last Grom crackdown."

"Look, look look look. Just... call the gang. Bird Person, the Council, everyone."

"Everyone? Even Gear-"

"Not him." cut in Rick before Squanchy could finish. "Call *urp* call everyone else. Let them know I'm gone. If *urp* if they can't come and get me they can at least *urp* try and track down this tenth-dimensional creep. You got this, Squanchy."

"Squanch that."

Lewis - Library - Remember that time in canon when he made coffee? Me neither

An easy window into the reality warping librarian's backstory...that sounded like a treat, alright. I put the sign down. "Huh. That does sound like an interesting bit of exposition. Since the offer is literally on the table...why not?"

I leaned against the desk leisurely, though still prepared to listen, and, deciding that I needed some coffee for this, made a cup in my hand. Noticing Ben too had taken interest in this, I briefly glanced at him. "You don't mind waiting a little longer on that thing, do you, Ben?"

Ara Haan (Street) - Search Time!

I listened patiently while the children introduced themselves, and in a few moments, not only had I memorized all their names, but I also had managed to put Onwyn on my shoulders like she asked. She was rather light, so it wasn't difficult to carry her on my back, although I did become a little more cautious with my balance. I didn't want her to fall down, after all.

Offeran managed to point out a few places where Eric could've gone. Even if we hadn't seen Eric, it was still progress.

"Should we begin with the places that are closer to us?" I asked to the group, but then I realized I had a far more important question to ask. "Also... maybe I should've asked this earlier, but... what does Eric look like?"

"My mistake, then," Ciri said. "We've only just been introduced moments ago, and you're willing to put your plans on hold and offering to escort me throughout the city for the entire day. Perhaps you do things differently here, but I'm only familiar with folks who are willing to go to such great lengths for a stranger because they have a singular goal in mind...."

She gave a grin. "But if that's not the case, then I could stand to have someone show me around and introduce me to this world. Starting with this call of yours. The sorceresses and sorcerers of my world use a contraption known as a megascope for a multitude of purposes - though mostly for teleportation and communication. "Well, I was just thinking that if we're trying to keep it a secret from Silanea, I'd worry that the more people we tell, the more likely she'll find out" Tuudol pointed out to Sans, shrugging slightly before he wandered off; after that Tuudol spoke with Del'Guk and the others for a bit, and saw to one of the unoccupied copies of Miss Tairee about getting their messages home and such.

Some other people were coming into the library at that point. Calvin and Silvester of the Fanboys, chatting with each other and the latter holding a list of stuff they wanted from the librarian in hand. There was also Pastor Daniel and what were probably a few other members of the Church of Literacy. And among a few other random folks, one rather oddly dressed up individual stood out somewhat.

Meanwhile, at the central desks, Miss Tairee 1 addressed Soldier first. "I will provide you what you need. One minute" Miss Tairee 1 responded to Soldier's question, then waited as another of her again did the typing. After a bit, there was a blur on the desk in front of Soldier, and a simple device with a screen and a big red button appeared, similar to the ones Engineer would use to destroy his mechanical constructions. Miss Tairee had opted to keep the thing for Soldier simple and as he would recognize, even though the call would be more magical in nature.

"Simply press that button when you want to begin, and it will contact Merasmus' crystal ball; since he's already trying to use it at the moment, I figured that would be convenient. When you are done, just press the button again to stop. Once you've stopped the message or once the day ends, this device will cease to exist" Miss Tairee 1 instructed Soldier.

Miss Tairee 1 then looked at those gathered at the central desks, being joined by Pastor Daniel and the two Fanboys as they were curious to hear these 'plot details' too, and she sighed slightly. "Well then, I suppose I'll get to telling the story then" Miss Tairee 1 muttered, and then began...

Miss Tairee's story, before employment
and her theme song too, because why not

Miss Sekreh Tairee. Of course, that wasn't always her name; her parents had given her a rather normal name when she was born. But, part of her employment agreement was that she would change her name; not just in a legal sense, but on an existential level. As far as the multiverse was concerned, she was Sekreh Tairee, and that was all that mattered.

She didn't always look the way they knew her now, either. She was rather plain, not pretty, but not unattractive either. Her body shape was more plain too. She wasn't as tall. Her glasses were real instead of fake frames. She usually let her red hair hang down around her head, which was slightly wavy.

She grew up in a city and went to school throughout her childhood. The pretty girls would try to pick on her and bully her, but she never let them get to her; she simply didn't care. She was rather studious, usually getting As and Bs.

Into her puberty, she began an obsession: Children. Having grown up an only child, she felt a sense of loneliness; babysitting on occasion helped, but never quite satisfied her. She wanted children of her own. Of course, she was no fool as to simply get pregnant; she knew of the hardships of being a single, teen mother, and was determined to avoid those herself. She would have to wait and get a husband.

However, throughout high school and college, her love life did not go well. Many of her first dates with boys usually ended up being their only dates; scared of the idea of life-long commitments at that age, and creeped out by her obsession, those boys would quickly move on. It wasn't that Sekreh Tairee wasn't attracted to boys or not care about them, but they always seemed to be a secondary concern, and she inevitably ended up driving them away.

Saddened, but not discouraged, Sekreh Tairee considered her options after graduation, and found a plan. One of the outer planets was being re-colonized; miners, builders, and other such hard-working blue collar types were there. Sekreh Tairee had moderate standards; she didn't care if her hypothetical husband wasn't Casanova, and she could live with an average man. Surely among those men, there were those who would like a loving wife and children to come home to after a hard day's work, and wouldn't need to complicate things. Though her parents weren't happy with it, and getting passage out was difficult, nevertheless she set off.

It was easy for her to find a simple job for her to do there; even among all the manual labor to be done, somebody still needed to take care of various documentation, so she got an easy desk job as a secretary. It took her about a year to feel settled in, and finally start considering suitors. With her work and her time there, she was starting to get the impression that the Dominion's control of the planet was quite dictatorial and horrifically oppressive, but she tried to not let it bother her since it didn't really affect her personally.

And it wasn't long until that didn't matter anyway.

After years of being dormant, The Swarm had suddenly returned to scour the Koprulu sector anew. And Mar Sara was among the first to be terrorized by them once again, just as they had before, which had left the planet barren. Pods rained down from the leviathans above as underground hives that had previously gone dormant and relatively docile surged up, rallying with their fellow Zerg. Raynor's Raiders, the famous resistance against the Dominion government, were trying to evacuate as many people as they could...

But the evac point was miles away from Sekreh Tairee's remote, rented house. There was already thousands if not tens of thousands of Zerg between herself and there, and nobody would be risking coming out this far. She was done, and she knew it.

She had a gun. A rifle, that she had bought just in case; all she had to do now was load it with one bullet. It would be a lot faster and painless that way. But damned if she had never really taught herself how to use the thing, and damn herself for not keeping the darn thing loaded! Just as she finished scrambling and struggling to get the round in the gun, a zergling, the same thing she'd turned into back on the eighth day, burst in through the door. In her panic, she reacted instinctively and fired on it instead. The shot glanced off its carapace at the shoulder, not even penetrating.

Figures.

Her death was thankfully not very long, but it was still very excruciating, and if she dare say so herself, (which she would considering she was the one telling the story) quite messy. After that... Nothing. Not even a black void, since that was still technically something; just nothing at all. No thought, no sensations, no awareness. Nothing.

Until suddenly there was a sensation. Despite having no ears to hear it with, and no brain to process it, Sekreh Tairee became aware of a sound. The sound made by somebody taking a pen and writing something down on a piece of paper. And then, again despite having no eyes and such, she became aware of words that she was somehow reading.

"Hello there, you appear to be dead. Would you like a job?"

Library again, a bit later

"And so began my current employment, but my boss is not allowing me to elaborate on that until another time" Sekreh Tairee 1 concluded her story, speaking fairly neutrally the whole time, even remaining fairly emotionless as she detailed her own death. She glanced at her computer and tapped a few keys. "Among plot details I am currently and previously allowed to talk about that many of you never bothered to ask: The true nature of the beings you face for the daily challenges, my boss' previous Sekreh Tairees, and why there's so many humans here. Depending on how you take on today's challenge, I will either show off a demonstration of how my powers work today, or else that will be held off until the next peaceful day, in five days" the librarian explained in addition to them, pointing to the challenge and reward plaques on one of the desks.

"Any questions?" Sekreh Tairee 1 then asked them.

"So you're from StarCraft?" Silvester asked.

"That is what my universe is commonly known as in the bleeding effect, yes. I am a Terran" Sekreh Tairee 1 answered him. "However, you will not find any direct appearance or mention of me, or even indirect, besides implication. I was not a starring character; I was a background extra, and never appear on screen in any fashion" she elaborated.

City Streets - Jack

Jack watched Yoshika intently at Lucas tore the tag from her head, one that she apparently had not seen until he had pointed it out. He let out a quiet breath of relief at the idea she was no longer in that monster's control. The girl's words prompted him to step forward slightly, gently asking. "You don't feel any different? No... memories?"

Then, he holds out the book towards her. "Here. This has stuff about you in it... and Seiga. I don't know if it'll help, but it can't hurt."

City Streets - Children

Onwyn chirped happily as Ara picked her up, perching on the woman's shoulders with her talons gripping just tight enough for support but not enough to hurt. Fluffing out her feathers, the harpy nestled herself against the back of her and head.

<That is the plan> Offeran replied. It was becoming apparent that the boy's confidence was being put on, with the tone of his 'voice'.

It was Mary that answered Ara's question. "Well, he's around my height, has blonde hair that's really messy, and blue eyes."

"She likes him." Sarah sings, a cheeky grin on her face, making Mary flush.

She frowns and flicks the back of her younger sister's head, prompting a pained cry. "I do not. Stop being a brat."

Sarah pouts and glares at her sister, and the group moves on. Eventually, a short way through the crowd, a sign comes into view.

Holiday Hand-Me-Downs

Moving closer, it becomes obvious the store is a costume shop of some sort, judging by the colourful mannequins in the windows.

The library

Ben was stunned into silence for a moment after Miss Tairee finished her explanation. He looked absolutely crestfallen. "I... I..." he muttered. "I didn't know you... you were dead," he continued, still unsure what to say. "You... you.... the previous Miss Tairees. What were they like? Did they die too? What happened to them, are they still around?" His head was flooded with questions, he was mainly concerned with the women that the Writer had grabbed to be his servants.

He had some more thoughts. If the Writer brought Miss Tairee back to life, then... was he really evil? Yes. He had to be. Nobody good kidnapped people and made them go through all this stupid stuff. Was he? He couldn't debate this, not now. He had to focus on the task at hand. Darnit Writer, stop making his job as hero difficult!

I can still hail the Horde even though the company has shamed us. Strength and Honor even if Blizzard has neither.

Abel - Streets - Uh

This was clearly an awkward situation, and while Abel didn't really want to be a part of it, he didn't want to be alone anymore, either. He stuck around with Rex and the new people for a while, twiddling his thumbs or something, until he mustered up the will to finally talk to somebody. He inched towards the girl that the snake lady showed up with and whispered "Hey, do you know these guys? 'Cuz I don't and I'm kinda scared."

Library ~ Wow Such Exposition, Much Happening, Wow

"Wow, all that's...really something...." Arf commented with a frown at everything Caro said, "On one hand, I feel pretty lucky we arrived when it wasn't all that terrible, and we were definitely lucky that Fate found out about all this awful stuff today as opposed to On the other hand, maybe we'd be better prepared for everything ahead if we had gotten here earlier."

She shook her head, then turned to Fate. "Fate...I hope you're going to be ready by the time it comes."

"I'll be fine, Arf," Fate replied simply, with a small smile.

Then she turned to Cole. "So...you're friends with Sans and Caro...?"

Arf turned to Cole herself. She tilted her head to one side curiously as she looked Cole over, then she nodded as realization came to her. "We met you outside that one store yesterday, didn't we? You were the first person we bumped into after we left it." She frowned. "And I'm pretty sure he actually asked about someone matching her and Sans's descriptions, too."

Then another one of Miss Tairee approached, and asked if any of them wanted to make a call still. Arf didn't think much of it at first, but then she noticed that Miss Tairee was addressing her specifically alongside Caro and Cole while ignoring Fate. It only took her a few moments to figure out what that could have meant.

"...Oh? Fate's call didn't count for me as well?" she asked, after a few moments of realizing that the librarian had addressed her too, "...Well, there's pretty much no one I would want to call, so I think I'm good. If I think of something maybe I'll try later."

At Sans's approach, Fate simply nodded and gave the skeleton another small smile.

"If everyone else is...."

"As am I," Arf added, "Even more so now that I don't know what tomorrow's going to be like. If it's going to help get Fate back in order, then I'm certainly ready for it."

Streets

Well, the tag was off. Definitely not Lucas's most spectacular removal of a seal but not everything could be a needle, he supposed. But there was still a minor issue here. Lucas said to Yoshika "It's off, but if you die then you'll reappear with it back on your head, right? I promise I'll try removing it if that happens, but you should pick your fights carefully." It might be a challenge to remove it from a subservient and capable of hurting him Yoshika, but Lucas didn't want to be a negative man here.

Suddenly, Lucas remembered that he still needed to send the message home. He had the device required already, so he should probably get on that. Flint was probably worried sick/tearing up the new world in search for him right now. A simple message could fix that. Lucas asked the group "Um... I got something to talk with my dad back in the library. Do either of you mind if I do that soon?"

Lewis - Library - Book Mom's Lament

Secure in the knowledge that Ben, not verbally answering but clearly wanting to listen to this as much as I did, didn't mind if I kept him waiting just a bit longer, I returned my attention to the librarian and took a sipread  of my coffee.

And I listened, my curiosity only continuing to grow as she went on.

It was surprisingly mundane, if you didn't get held up on the sci-fi furnishings. Well, up until the Zerg rush came, that was, but even so I made an effort to empathize. That she was quite the storyteller was perhaps to be expected, and she kept my attention to the end.

And then that end came.

Ben reacted with the utmost sorrow toward what had been her fate, struggling to find the words to express it before ultimately giving up and asking about the writer's previous employees who'd shared her current name (woah what). That being one of the topics she mentioned we could ask about and expect an answer for. He worried for them, which probably wasn't terribly unjustified of him considering what had led to the present Miss Tairee being under the writer's thumb in the first place.

After a moment, I dispelled the now-empty cup and addressed her myself, half thinking out loud, gazing at her in understanding.

"You had a life full of hopes and dreams before this. You had it violently taken from you by forces beyond your control. He offered it back to you in exchange for your servitude, and you took it, and that's why you're here now. Am I understanding right?"

Eve|Library| Our Protagonist, Ladies and Gentlemen

She was proud of Ben. To swallow pride, to apologise in that way, it can be hard. Something drew her attention. Moving to the sign, Eve listened to Miss Tairee's story. So Miss Tairee was dead. Or had died. She felt sorry, for the librarian. Her obsession with children was..odd. And slightly alarming. The new information avaliable was also interesting, and Eve began to compile a list of questions in her head.

She also kept an eye out for the alien which had shot her.

Ara Haan (Now Entering: Holiday Hand-Me-Downs) - Not Quite A Fashionista

Young, blonde hair, blue eyes... I assumed he'd be human, or at least close enough that it'd be hard to tell. Right, that was a lot more than I had. So basically, I had to look for... Chung. But with shorter, messier hair. And... probably without the armor.

We approached the first store, which seemed to be some sort of clothing shop, but with mannequins sporting very colorful and strange clothes that forced one to simply stare in-was that a white Harmony Festival dress with spiders on it?

No, we couldn't stay outside to look at the clothes. We had to go in and look for Eric. So I... crouched a little so that Onwyn wouldn't hit herself against the door frame or something like that, and then I walked into the store... and almost immediately stumbled into one of the mannequins, which almost fell to the floor. Fortunately, I managed to grab it by the clothes before it touched the ground, so I picked it back up and got it to stand upright again.

Hopefully nobody had noticed.
