The Polar Coaster

Ben grinned, as the ride started up. It started to slowly go up the hill, a clanking noise ringing out as the chains pulled the coaster up the track. Ben gripped the bar, looking excited as the coaster began to go up to the top. Then as it began to drop, and pick up speed, Ben felt a rush and he let out an excited yell!

Outside the Library

Ghostfreak continued to fly in the direction of the Library, stopping in horror when he saw just how long the line to speak to Miss Tairee was, moving several meters outside each Library door. Ghostfreak's eye twitched, and he glanced back behind him to see that Sora, and Rick and Morty, were chasing after him at great speed. Ghostfreak went intangible and ducked into the Library through a wall.

"Hey, no cutting in line, jackass!" one irate individual stated when he saw Ghostfreak move into the library.

As soon as Ghostfreak got inside, he could see just how packed and how busy each Miss Tairee was. It was going to be a long time before he would be able to get a message out. But he would just have to wait until the crowds died down.

To the library, Forrest Gump

And then the spiky-haired kid and the others just ran off without takin' some chocolates. Guess they wanted to send a message like the spook or somethin'. Still, these guys need to learn some manners. If they mess with the wrong person, they could get into a lot of trouble.

I ran after them, and since I could run good, I could hopefully catch up with them before it was too late.

Library - not all fun and games

Caro noticed that Fate was also in the library, in part due to being able to hear someone talk about the Lost Logia things she mentioned. She rushed over to where she was, bringing Sans' attention to the matter. Fate looked throughly crushed, clearly what she found out through the call and probably that book too wasn't good. There was always someone suffering in those days where everything was supposed to be nice, huh? First was Caro, now her mom, must run in the family.

Sans followed after Caro, looking at Fate with pity which was hidden by his pumpkin mask.

"that must've been one nasty phone call, you need someone to talk to?" He asked her

Library ~ Fate.exe Is Not Responding; Arf.exe Is Not Amused

"...This just isn't about your mother or the mission, is it?" Arf asked after a few failed attempts to get Fate to respond, mostly to herself than to Fate, "This is also about what you read in that book, wasn't it?"

She sighed painfully and closed her eyes tightly. "I shouldn't have let you read it. I should have known that thing was going to be bad news the second Caro suggested it!" Her hand clenched into a fist. "...I know you told me not to blame her. Maybe I should be blaming your mother more. But I don't think you would be feeling like this now if she hadn't gotten involved."

As if she knew Arf was speaking of her, Caro appeared right then. She seemed to be just as worried as Arf was, but Arf wasn't exactly in the frame of mind to notice or care about that.

"Well well well, look who it is," Arf said, turning to her. She crossed her arms and fixed her with a glare that could have set Caro on fire had the familiar been able to do that. "I don't suppose you could explain just what was in that book? Because at least in part thanks to you, I doubt I'm getting any answers out of my master."

Through all this Fate just continued to be unresponsive. She didn't even look up when Caro called her name or when Sans tried speaking to her.

In the city streets

"No, not currently" Sir Redring answered truthfully, shaking his head slightly. "The librarian requested these children be returned to the library by morning, and I swore to that on my honor. Besides, as I understand it these children can now get a message back to their homes; it would be a disservice to their parents to make them wait any longer than necessary in their heart-striken grief" the octopode explained to Jack, getting a bit dramatic in tone and holding up a tentacle, like an actor in a stage play reading out poignant lines; the only thing the octopode was missing was a single tear rolling from his closed eyes to complete the look, but alas, he shed none.

"I still miss mommy" Seirwuosuhr added in, as if to emphasize.

"I have compromised to allow them to partake of some of these treat stands we pass until we arrive at the library, but otherwise I am not dallying. You are welcome to come along, but if not, until we meet again" Sir Redring told Jack, then turned to Ara, and added with a short bow, "and the same to you, madam."

"Hi Jack!" Tommy said with a wave of his hand as he followed Sir Redring.

Library, tread carefully ye who contact the Writer

Miss Tairee 3 typed on her holographic screen for a bit, then let out a simple, "ah." She then looked at Arcade. "It appears this 'Daisy Whitman' is currently in jail. And it doesn't look like she'll be able to write a responding letter if we do it that way, so I suppose we'll just have to brute force it" the librarian told him, tapping a few buttons on the screen.

A device identical to the one she gave Fate appeared in a blur in front of Arcade and floated there until he took it. "This will start the message once you press the button, and only once you press it on purpose, so don't worry about it happening by accident. Do note that for her this will appear as something straight up impossible in your universe so be prepared that she might freak out or assume she's hallucinating. You can press the button again to end the call, and this device will cease to exist either once you do or once the day ends" Miss Tairee 3 explained to him.

Meanwhile, Miss Tairee 1 pointed to the little display of brochures. "I would suggest that first you read one of those; it will answer at least a few of your questions. If you still have any after that, I will answer what I am allowed to; until then, I am rather busy, miss" Miss Tairee 1 told Ciri. She was about to then see about helping someone else, but suddenly John Egbert flew over, getting a few angry remarks from people who were waiting.

"Hmm?... Oh yes, you were with the gray skinned fellow who would not stop shouting and swearing, four days ago" Miss Tairee 1 said, having to remember who he was. "As you can see I'm quite busy, and you just cut in front of some other patrons, so I'll be with you in a few minutes or so" the librarian added, making a shooing motion with her hand.

Over by Seiga, Miss Tairee 8 just looked blankly at Seiga when she claimed to have said Day 12, saying nothing in response to that. Some scrolling information on her holographic screen got her attention, and she tapped a few buttons, making two new notes appear, one in front of Seiga and one in front of Yoshika. "That is possible for me to do, yes. However I cannot guarantee that she would realize it is actually the real you contacting her; she might just think it is a dream" Miss Tairee 8 informed Seiga, typing on the holographic screen. "Also I will need to know who it is" the librarian added.

As for the notes, when the two got around to reading them, the one to Seiga went as follows.

Seiga Kaku;

That is currently her decision, unless she forces my hand, which is unlikely. I do not think that she currently intends to retire immediately after this project is finished, but perhaps she will have reason to choose to do that by the time it is done.

And then the one to Yoshika.

Yoshika Miyako;

I have no current intentions of creating a challenge specifically for your master. So how about instead, I give you the chance to tell as many people in the city as you'd like about one of her feats?

Both of the letters, as usual, had a short multi-dimensional scribble at the bottom that they could not read, as the signature of Miss Tairee's boss.

Elsewhere in the room, the Miss Tairee that Rex was near, Miss Tairee 4, noticed him and scoffed slightly, rolling her eyes. "You're going to get in trouble, you know. However, as long as you're here, you might as well take this" Miss Tairee 4 said to him, tapping on her holographic screen. With a blur, a note appeared in the air in front of Rex and floated there until he took it. "Now, is there something I can do for you, 'sir'?" the librarian then asked him, with audible quotation marks.

Whenever Rex got around to reading the note, he'd see the following.

Rex Salazar;

Generally when someone wants to add an additional clause to an agreement, they do so before accepting said agreement. As it stands I see no reason for me to add in this prank of yours when you have already agreed to my terms. You will either have to convince me, or agree to a new deal for it.

And like the others, there was a multi-dimensional scribble of a signature at the bottom that Rex couldn't possibly read and would give him a headache to look at.

The Miss Tairee closest to Fate, Caro, and Arf, Miss Tairee 5, looked over at them, overhearing some of the conversation. She seemed contemplative for a moment, then typed on her holographic screen for a bit, and walked up to them. "Caro, about what you were asking me yesterday" Miss Tairee 5 started, to get their attention. "I still cannot provide an unaltered version of the continuity of your universe hub... However, there is an alternate universe hub that follows the same continuity; some events are slightly different, but the broad strokes are the same. While it has also been altered, the alteration is not as severe, and the frame of reference you're looking for is before the alteration entirely" the librarian explained, still typing on her screen, then a small slip of paper appeared in her hand with a blur.

"When you are ready, I suggest you go to the cinema, and search for this exactly. It is the closest to an unaltered version of your own continuity I can provide" Miss Tairee 5 told Caro, holding out the slip of paper. On it it simply read, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha The Movie First. Miss Tairee 5 glanced at Fate, then repeated for emphasis, "when you are ready." She then turned back around and returned to helping other people in the library.

"And there's a bunch of big headed, white rabbit people living on that island, yeah?" Chuck asked Curly.

Some of the others seemed to be stirring now. Melanie got up, her outfit now pink and red with heart patterns and a fair deal skimpier than what she was wearing last night. She looked over at Chuck, who was wearing some kind of horrendous knitted sweater with Christmas trees and gingerbread cookies patterned on it. "Wow Chuck, seriously?" Melanie asked him simply.

Chuck glance at her briefly, then glanced again, his eyes widened slightly. "Uh... You've got a bit more skin showing now, you know" Chuck mentioned simply.

Melanie glanced down at herself, then shrugged. "Hey, at least I still look good. You just look like a dork" Melanie said, sounding like she didn't mind the outfit change. Chuck shrugged, then looked back at Curly.

Calvin, who seemed to be in a Dracula outfit, was still fast asleep. Conner was stirring, currently rubbing his face, and was wearing what seemed to be a Santa outfit without the beard; however he made no attempt to actually get up yet, probably due to Silanea still asleep half on top of him.note  With the sleeping bag as a blanket still on top of her, it wasn't clear what had changed with her yet, but her yellow hair color had changed slightly, now being a more vibrant yellow; and what Curly could see of her shirt, it seemed to now be a picture of various vegetables and fruits? Apples, pears, grapes, tomatoes, and onions, among others.

Where to start...where to start. Where to start where to start where to start where to...start?

Is that Rex?

Cole took a second, trying to figure out what exactly he was seeing over there. Admittedly he wasn't wearing his usual clothes either, but Rex seemed to have on a shirt over his...whatever he usually wore. Everything seemed gaudy today but the shirt seemed...out of place. He seemed to be talking to Miss Tairee about something...why were there so many Miss Tairees?

...Rex was often upset with him, but Cole remembered Ara and her dem...spirit friend were upset with him as well, but after talking to them and understanding each other it seemed like they had worked things out. He should make an effort to do the same with Rex.

"Rex!" Cole called out, tucking his stuffed bunny into the basket over his arm, so he could raise an arm and wave, trying to get Rex's attention. "Rex, I wanted to talk to you about yesterday!"

Festive Streets

Lucas heard Sans say he had a shortcut. He then saw a... was that a doorknob on the ground in the middle of the street? before Lucas could think about it, he was suddenly at...

The Library

That was a fast shortcut. Suddenly they had found themselves amidst the hubbub of a horde of people wanting to send a message. Kind of a sharp contrast to the calm on the street. Lucas was about to take a spot on line when he noticed that Sans and Caro were walking over to Fate.

Either way, Lucas could tell that something was really bothering Fate, and judging by the location it had to do with the message. But what Arf said to Caro, in quite an aggressive manner, seemed to link a book to this situation, which Lucas presumed would be one about her world to have such an effect on her. Well, Lucas had no idea how he could calm Arf down, since he had no idea what the context behind this was. Best to leave it to Caro.

Honestly, he couldn't think of anything he could do to help the situation in any way. Maybe if he understood the context a bit but he didn't. Actually... Lucas should probably find out about the context. He asked Sans "W-What's going on with these two? And what does Caro have to do w-with it?"

"I... see," Ciri said to the librarian. "You have my thanks?" she stated, though it was less of a statement and more of a question.

She approached the brochures, and pulled off the first of "those" things which Tairee had indicated, and read from it.

"Hey! It's him! It's the asshole that put us all in danger!" the man yelled, pointing at Rex and backing away as he yelled.

"You bastard!" an orc woman yelled out, suddenly charging in and taking a swing at Rex's face; it of course missed just past his head, and a moment later she was yanked off the floor in a bubble. All ten of Miss Tairee sighed and pinched their noses under their glasses frames as much of the library's crowd quickly devolved into angry shouting.

Someone approached from behind Rex and grabbed at his arms, but then was shoved to the side as Samson moved up to Rex's side. "We should leave. Now" Samson said to Rex in a hushed voice.

The library

Ghostfreak turned his eye towards where Cole was shouting, just as the library began to devolve into random shouting, many of the people in the City paying attention to Rex now rather than Miss Tairee. Ghostfreak swooped in towards one of the Miss Tairees (the one near the least amount of people). He would take this opportunity to get his request in while the crowds were distracted.

"Miss Tairee," Ghostfreak stated. "I would like to be able to speak to Dr. Vicktor from my home universe. Video would be preferred."

The Library — Incognito mode

Tairee wasn't amused by Rex's disguise but she followed the usual protocol and gave him the note he had received. She ten asked if he needed something else, pretending that he wasn't Rex.

"Pfft, nice outfit. Just give me a minute to answer to your boss"

In said note, writer said that he wasn't going to approve of the master popcorn prank Rex was planning to pull on Eve. Not without some negotiating. Given how last deal had ended, Rex wasn't going to make a pact with him anytime soon.

Forget the popcorn. Just tell me what the challenge is about. That's the least you can do after making me the most hated person in the city.

Maybe he could finally learn what the infamous challenge was about. Moving on, now it was as good time as any to enjoy the benefits of making that deal.

"I just wanted to send a message back ho—"

And then Cole showed up and called him by name. Things didn't go well after that.

"Aw come on! I'm just trying to make a call here. I've got friends too, you know?" he said, trying to distance himself from the crowd. Not an easy thing when it looked like a Where's Waldo? book.

From people insulting him, to an orc woman trying to attack him, to one of the militia members suggesting him to leave; it was clear that this wasn't going to be Rex's day.

"No way. I'm not going anywhere and none of you can force me to" He took off a few feet in the air, dropping the glasses and adressing the crowd below him "Now listen, this is a good thing, right? I helped you talk with your friends and your family. Maybe I screwed up a little but, is it really that bad?"

Cole had expected a few possibilities in his dealings with Rex. Being yelled at, being insulted, maybe a slim chance of an actual conversation. Rex was a little unpredictable.

The crowd suddenly getting agitated and irate, not so much.

A man was yelling about Rex putting them all in danger, and a large woman actually tried to throw a punch at Rex. It missed, which made sense, if this was one of the days where they couldn't get hurt. But why was she...why would anyone...?

"I...no, stop, please!"

Rex had already pulled away from a man who had tried to grab him, hovering in the air, and Cole tried to push through the crowd to get closer to him. Rex was saying something about having screwed up, but that they could talk with friends and family back home, and-

Wait, what?

Figure that out later. Deal with screaming people now.

"Stop it! Please! We can't do anything to each other right now as it is, hurting him won't fix whatever is broken!" Cole tried to put himself as much between Rex and others as he could, even though Rex was currently in the air above their heads. "Please, do not turn on each other this way, that will not fix anything...it will only cause more pain! Is that what all of you want?"

Well, that confirmed she and Ellen might as well be dead. Figures. Seiga shook her head and shoved the note into her pocket, and responded to Tairee.

"I can work with that. I haven't spoken to her for many hundreds of years, a dream would be better than nothing else! It would be fantastic if you could actually manage it."

Seiga's enthusiasm was curtailed a little with the formation of an angry mob behind her. Honestly, it's not like anyone should really care about another challenge. If a braindead girl could solve one herself it can hardly be a problem, immortality or no. Rex might as well be lauded for his negotiation with some omnipotent loser.

She continued, leaning on the desk to try and make herself a little less spottable in this mess, lowering her voice. "Her name is Prince Shoutoku, she should be residing in the Great Mausoleum underneath Myouren Temple, Gensokyo, Japan...and whatever you might call my planet besides "Earth". Hardly get the chance to talk to someone who might call it anything else."

Yoshika took her note quickly, almost as if she was trying to avoid the notice of her master, and read it painstakingly slowly. By the time Seiga was dictating her own, trying to avoid the inanity of more riots behind her, Yoshika had already penned her response.

City Streets - Like herding cats

Jack twitched a little in surprise when a familiar voice greeted him, and he turned a little too quickly towards Ara. "H-hey! I'm pretty good so far. How are you- you two?"

Staring at the young woman with a carefree grin plastered on his face, the spirit swore he could feel himself starting to sweat. First, there was the combination of both the previous night's dream and the dream before that running through his head, and he'd just fully noticed what the dark-haired girl was wearing. It was more than he had seen her in on the last safe day, but somehow what she was wearing seemed like less. The dress, a Chinese one he'd seen many a time over the years, did a very good job of... framing things. Jack had to work very hard to make sure his eyes stayed where he wanted them to. For the most part. Finally it became to much, and realising he had been staring for a little too long he forced himself to focus on Redring.

The winter spirit cocked his head at the octopus' words. "Returned to the library? Where were they before?" He'd left them there for the safety, but he supposed this was Tairee's way of making sure they were looked after when she disappeared. He would have liked to have known about where it was, but he wasn't anything more than slightly miffed.

The talk about the messages also brought Jack's anger and irritation at Rex to the forefront of his mind. It was good to see that at least some measure of good had come from the idiotic decision. But only time would tell if it was worth it. If it wasn't, he would make sure the teenager was very aware of just what his action might have caused. He nodded at Sir Redring. "That's fair. I'd have to ask if the others want to go there now, so I'll try to catch up."

A quick glance around gave him the general idea of where the children were. The little harpy girl was clinging fairly close to him, as she had since he'd first found and befriended her. She poked her head around his legs to stare curiously at the small collection of new people. She seemed to be captivated in particular by Redring and Ara. The Andalite was a short distance away, and the two sisters were currently at a food stall. The only one Jack couldn't see was the boy, Eric. Groaning, he turned back to Sir Redring with an apologetic smile. "Yeah, I'll definitely have to try and catch up if anything."

Remembering something, the spirit's smile dropped, and he called out to the octopus one more time as he turned to leave. "Sir Redring! About... that day. Did... did everything go well after I left?"

He managed to work up a little smile and wave for Tommy, even through his fallen mood.

"She what," Arcade exclaimed when Miss Tairee explained Daisy's position. He snatched the device as soon as it appeared in front of him. He turned and ran up to a wall away from the crowd.

Once Arcade reached one of the walls he leaned against it and held up the tablet. His finger hovered over the button that would call her, contemplating. She was in jail, probably NCR, did he want to see her like that? He sighed; he knew he had to see it for himself.

When he pushed the button, an older woman appeared on the screen. She was thin- thinner than the average person in the Wasteland would be. She was wearing a blue jumpsuit that Arcade guessed due to his experience that it said 'NCRCF" on the back. What Arcade focused on were her eyes; even when they decided they had to never associate with one another, he still remembered a spark of life in her eyes. The woman he was looking at had given up, completely.

"W-what is this?" Daisy demanded. A screen appearing out of nowhere and displaying the boy she had practically raised was enough to bring back a little of that spark.

"Daisy, I-" Arcade started. He swallowed as he tried to force the next words. "I really can't explain how I'm doing this; even I don't really know what's going on," he started to ramble. Whether that was because the City was that bizarre, or he was just trying to delay the inevitable conversation, he didn't know.

"Arcade?" Daisy interrupted. Her fear had turned into shock and confusion. "What's on your face?" Mostly confusion.

"My what?" Arcade asked, baffled. He reached up to see if he felt anything out of place. It felt odd, cracked and rough in a way he'd never felt before. Daisy simply shook her head and started to talk again.

"I only have so long before the guards show up," she informed him. She then asked "You weren't captured?" She smiled softly at Arcade, which made him smile back, weakly.

"No, I've been running," Arcade confirmed. "Where is the facility you're staying at?" He asked, "I might be able to-"

"Arcade!" She snapped "Do not go getting yourself captured or killed on some suicidal mission to save me! You have a life to live, even if it's not easy," she lectured. Arcade stopped looking upset at the situation, and slowly started to shrink down like a child being reprimanded for knocking over a fragile knick-knack. That appeared to soften Daisy's anger as she then said, "you're a fine young man, dear. Don't waste your potential, please."

Despite the encouragement, Arcade's mind was focused on one thing. "I had to sell dad's power armor," he blurted.

Daisy just shook her head and replied, "I'm not Orion, or Judah. That armor only mattered if it kept you safe." She seemed to notice something in Arcade's face at the mention of the other two, as she sighed and started to talk again.

"The Brotherhood saw my vertibird and shot it down. Henry wasn't moving. I'm still not sure if he was dead or just knocked out, but some paladin shot him in the head to get Orion to stand down. It didn't work. He kept fighting until their numbers overwhelmed him. Judah took credit as our commander; he was executed not too long after. I don't know what's happened to Johnson though." By the end of her speech, she was crying; it wasn't loud crying, she simply allowed the tears to fall.

Arcade could only listen as horror as Daisy described what happened to his family. "Daisy, I'm so-" he tried to say, but he was interrupted. Not by Daisy, though.

"Who the fuck are you talking to?" A voice yelled from Daisy's side; Arcade could faintly hear someone approaching her cell. She shrinked away from the source and looked back at Arcade.

"Live your life, for me, please," she whispered. The footsteps were coming closer, Arcade knew he had to go before the screen was spotted.

"Goodbye," he mumbled before pressing the button again. The device disappeared, which was lucky for it; Arcade wanted nothing more than to throw it away from him. As it was, all he could do was slide down the wall until he was sitting down. He simply stared blankly at the ground, unmoving.

"Ah hah! So you are the robot girl from Cave Story!" Chuck said, sounding satisfied that he had figured it out. Then he seemed to think about it for a moment and frowned slightly. "Oh... Um, sorry that you got dragged here instead of seeing that through" the Fanboy then muttered apologetically.

Melanie headed to the lobby to get herself something from the replicators, and Chuck glanced at the others. "Yeah, today's got a holiday theme; though I guess you might not know what that means" Chuck answered her simply.

Library, lobby

Nobody was really listening to Rex or Cole. Granted, none of them could really hear Rex or Cole, because there was too many people shouting. Many were shouting about how Rex had put them in danger, but some were shouting about how it was unfair that he got to decide something for the whole city without the input of others, while a few were shouting about how super powered people like Rex were abusing their powers. Underneath Rex, Samson was yelling something about how Rex's plan wouldn't work, but the details were lost amidst the din.

Somebody threw a glass bottle at Rex, which bounced harmlessly off one of his constructs as if it was instead a plastic bottle; only when it hit the floor afterward did it properly shatter like glass. Some rather gruff looking man took an orange and black striped blunderbuss of all things, and leveled it at Rex. When he pulled the trigger, Rex was showered with a blast of small, individually wrapped candies, much to the man's apparent confusion.

And then of course it happened. The blast of anti-sound that wiped out both all the actual sound waves in the room and the thought processes of everyone in it, with the exception of the librarian, making it extremely difficult for anyone to do anything but listen to what she had to say. "I really wish you people would stop forcing me to use that" Miss Tairee 1 said in a slightly annoyed tone, as the gruff man and the guy who threw the bottle were both bubbled. "I'm not going to pretend that any of you don't have legitimate reasons to be angry with Rex, however that is not my business or the business of the library. Attempted violence and disruption of other patrons will not be tolerated, and those who break that might have their message home for the day revoked" the librarian warned them, as Miss Tairee 8 handed Seiga a magic mirror, and Miss Tairee 6 handed Ghostfreak one of those tablets, both giving more or less the same instructions as Fate had been given earlier. This being despite the fact that neither Ghostfreak nor Seiga could really audibly respond to her at the moment.

Then, there was something that made all of Miss Tairee pause; and audible sound of writing coming from seemingly nowhere. When it stopped, another note appeared in front of Yoshika, this one already open and ready for her to read the moment it was even there.

Yoshika Miyako;

Then I grant you the means to tell as many people as you would like about one of Seiga's feats until the day is done.

That feat namely being yourself.

As usual, beneath that was the multi-dimensional scribble of the signature of Miss Tairee's boss, however Yoshika wouldn't have much time to process the signature as the note suddenly vanished once she was finished reading it, along with herself blurring so briefly as to be barely a flicker.

The change to her that it had brought however, was almost as severe as it could get. Though there was no visible outward change, and unlike two days ago, she was currently still undead and her body was in (almost) every physical sense the same. But mentally, it was exactly like two days ago, when she had been revived for the day; she suddenly had free will again, and her mental faculties were returning once more, sweeping through her mind like an angry force of barbaric raiders.

Miss Tairee, all of her, looked a bit confused as she glanced around the room but could see no evident change brought by the writing sound, which made her look a bit worried. But as people were starting to regain the ability to think and noise began to filter back into the room, Miss Tairee 10 stepped over to just under Rex, tapping keys on her holographic screen; she and Rex then vanished. "Where the heck did he go?!" someone in the crowd yelled.

"That is none of your concern" Miss Tairee 1 stated, her tone slightly stern.

Streets

"The librarian requested I escort them from the library to somewhere safe; I was not told all the details but I gathered it had something to do with a ghostly looking figure that was trapped within the library, but only temporarily" Sir Redring explained to Jack when he asked about where the children had been. Then the octopode perked up at the mention of the fight a few days back.

"Of course boy! It was a hard fought battle, but I kept those helpless people safe just like I swore to!" Sir Redring called back at Jack, while still moving along and looking for the library.

Library, roof

"Now if only I had the excuse of needing to get a lot of work done when that demon was in here" Miss Tairee 10 seemed to say to herself, then looked at Rex. "I can't really just let you stay in the lobby while it's obviously going to cause this much of a disturbance to my duties" she explained to him, folding her arms.

"It would do you a lot of good if you came to terms with the fact that you're not nearly as clever as you think you are" Miss Tairee 10 said to him honestly, then unfolded her right arm and flicked her wrist to bring up the holographic screen again. "Now then, who do you want to contact, Rex? And if you want anything else, you better make it quick; I can't keep one of my copies tied up with just you" the librarian told him.

Library

"alright then. i'll talk to you later."

10 minutes later, he had just witnessed what seemed to be just pure chaos. A large woman attacking Rex, a glass bottle, and anger and argument in general. The library was more crowded than he remembered 4 years ago.

Wait.

John had realized that while he was in his home universe for 4 years, he was merely gone for 4 days in the city. This struck him as rather weird; with people from different universes, adding weird time shit into the mix was even more complicated. But now, he needed to know what was going on with all the hubbub.

He promptly turned into gust, dividing through the crowd like thin air (because he WAS thin air, haha), trying to find Rex. But he didn't find him. Instead, he found a blonde boy somewhere around his age. Perhaps he had met him before; but that was a few years ago to him.

He tried to speak, but nothing came out of his mouth. He couldn't hear anything.

Library - System recovery attempt

As soon as Arf mentioned the book, realization hit her like a wave and her eyes widened in guilt stricken horror. She should have realized that would be in the book in some form. Now she was practically complicit in utterly breaking Fate's whole world with the awful truth about her origins and how her mother apparently truly felt about her. She didn't even want to defend herself, because she was guilty of once again inadvertedly, thoughtlessly hurting one of the most important people to her.

Still, uttering that whole, terrible truth right now would do no good. Arf would get even more angry at both her and Presea, probably more at her since she was the most immediate target and there was little she could do to calm her down as it was. But more importantly, if Fate could still hear despite being utterly unresponsive right now, hearing it again was the very least thing she needed at the moment.

So she simply uttered, clearly horrified, "Oh no ... She must have learnt ... the truth about herself ... "

One of the Miss Tairees came up to them and handed her title for a movie, which apparently depicted an alternative, but close enough, mostly unaltered version of the original events of the time Fate was coming from. She didn't know how much good it could do at this point, now the truth had come out in the worst way possible, but she still held on to it and thanked the librarian as she left.

Then the chaos of Rex recklessly showing up in the middle of the library and Cole unwittingly revealing his presence. There was the expected uproar and violence, until Miss Tairee was forced to once again do her patented anti-sound wave to pull a stop to it and then seemingly took Rex away from there.

As soon as her though got back to her, she immediately turned her focus to Fate. She had to do something, fix this horrible mess she had inadvertedly caused. After all, this utterly broken girl in front of her ... Even if she never quite became the woman she knew ... Even if things couldn't possibly be the same between them after all this ... In her mind, in her memories she should always be the one who had so caringly pulled her out of a similar state. In turn, so far, she had seemingly have done her no good whatsoever, despite desperately wanting to help her. It was time to set it right ...

Arf probably wouldn't let her get a word if she could, but fortunately, at least she secure in the knowledge that she couldn't get hurt today and that Miss Tairee would be forced to stop the familiar if she tried anything.

Caro then spoke her words pouring in an uttermost heartfelt manner, "Fate ... Please hear me out if you can .. No matter what you may have learnt ... You're still you ... Still your very own, unique, irreplaceable, wonderful person, no lesser than anyone else ... You still have people that care about you, no matter what ... So please ... Don't be like this ... "

Library - serious mode

Things started getting really out of hand in the library, apparently Rex broke lout of prison, surprising absolutely no one. The ensuing chaos forced Miss Tairee to use that anti-sound thing again to make everyone stop making a mess. Not that this distracted Sans much from what was going on

As expected the dog was already being aggressive for something that was no fault of their own. Lucas also tried to join in, but couldn't do much to help thanks to a lack of context.

"it's a long story, we'll handle it. you go ahead and make your call home in the meantime," he told Lucas.

Then, ignoring Arf's aggressive behavior, Sans took off his pumpkin mask and held it with one arm while also reaching out to Fate and placing a hand on her shoulder with his free hand.

"hey, i know you just went through something very upsetting and that you're probably lost now that all this happened, but listen, caro- we want to help you. so can you talk to us?" He calmly asked

Outside the lab

Garrett rolled his eyes. "Ah. So, a day based on a number of holidays which I had never heard about and I don't care about." He sighed. "Maybe if we celebrated this Christmas in my home world, I'd have greatly appreciated the humor value of wrapping every single of my things into a separate unlabelled box. It's a good thing I won't have much use for them today. Well, guess I'll be making my way to the library."

And that he did.

Library-If I can't help the broken child, I'll help the broken man

After regaining his train of thought after the conclusion of Ms. Tairee's announcement, Sans responded to Lucas. Well, if Sans didn't want him to get involved, Lucas wouldn't get involved. It wasn't like there was much he could do without knowing the situation, after all. Slowly making his way over to one of the Ms. Tairees, Lucas said back to Sans "Good luck with helping her, then."

But before he could start waiting for his message, Lucas noticed a familiar person sliding down a wall. Arcade looked... broken. These messages were really getting to some people, weren't they? He resolved to speak to him after he got his own message, as the lines were relatively broken up now thanks to Rex ruining everything, allowing for a shorter wait time. When he got access to a Ms. Tairee, Lucas would tell her "Can you please let me send a message to my father, Flint? A message where we can see each other, preferably."

Cole was really beginning to think he had it right when he had decided that he should never come back to the library again. He hadn't even screamed this time or anything, he'd done his level best to ignore the army of Tairees and find someone he could help, and he had thought he could help Rex, or at least make peace with him, to make someone feel better about something, and...

Maker he was starting to hate this library.

The silence overcame them all, and one of the Tairees whisked Rex away before the crowd's violence could escalate much further. They hadn't even heard a word he'd said in trying to get them to stop, to turn away from their outburst and try to...

Anyone standing next to Cole would be aware of a green glow coming to his eyes, a slight seething in his tone. "Selfish, stupid, short-sighted people, too focused in themselves to see..."

He seemed to start, and shook his head hard. "No...no. That isn't me. That isn't."

He cast a glance at the boy who was standing next to him, a nearly fearful, darting look, before he started to walk away, heading for a slightly less crowded part of the library, eyes scanning about...

Were those bones?

Cole stopped, staring at a blonde man sitting nearby, looking...absolutely miserable. But at the same time, his clothing, his demeanor, outward...it reminded him of...

"...Sans?"

Library ~ Feeling Like a Living Failure

Arf's gaze went from a death glare to rather confused and surprised upon seeing Caro's reaction.

"...Well, that wasn't what I was expecting. So even you didn't want her to learn this...truth?" she asked, "Then what were you expecting when you suggested we read it?"

Then that same sensation that had spread throughout the city on the previous day hit again, this time to the point where she couldn't hear anything or even so much as think. After it was done, Arf shot a glare in the librarian's general direction.

"Not everyone here's trying to raise a scene, you know," she growled, "At least this time I wasn't in the middle of cooking...."

The announcement also got a response out of Fate, although it was just a confused glance. Then she slumped back down as her thoughts reformulated themselves. Her hands fell into her lap, incidentally landing right on top of Bardiche. Then she gently wrapped her hands around him, as if he were some kind of comforting toy.

She didn't look up at Caro and Sans even as they tried to reach her. For another couple moments, it looked like she wasn't going to respond again. Then she finally spoke.

"Please don't worry about me...."

"What do you mean, 'Don't worry about you'?!" Arf exclaimed, "You can't tell me nothing's wrong!"

"I can't make Mother happy. I can't make you happy." Fate's hands tightened a little around Bardiche. "I'm just a worthless doll....

"You can't let your mother tell you what to think of yourself! I think you're worth something! Clearly these people do too, and we barely even know them! What the hell did you even read?!" At that, she started looking around. "You know what, don't answer that. If none of you are going to tell me, I'm going to read that damned book myself!"

Library

Arcade was jolted from his meditations by... Something. His thoughts just stopped, again. It had happened a few times the day before, and it made no sense at the time. Being in the lobby, was able to put two and two together and realize that it was the librarian. She was able to duplicate herself, it wasn't surprising she could stop whatever the fight was.

Arcade was considering leaving and avoiding the building where a woman could stop his thoughts completely, when a kid in a onesie walked up. He would have turned him away, but he caught a glimpse of his face when he approached. "Cole?" He asked. Cole did not seem any better than the day before; he looked worse if anything. "What are you we-" he started, but was interrupted by the bunny-boy.

Arcade raised an eyebrow at what Cole called him. "Ah, no, as convincing as this outfit is, I still have all my skin," he deadpanned. He then shook his head and added, "it's Arcade, from yesterday?"
