The effect on Melanie was instantaneous; a sort of betrayed look of shock on her face. "W-wh-what? But, I, played so many hours..." Melanie stammered, and quickly Silvester stepped forward and put a hand on her shoulder.

"Mel, come on. Just because you know who he is doesn't mean he's gonna know who you are" Silvester told her, and shook his head before looking at Sans. "I'm sorry mister, Sans, was it? Uh, do you know about the whole, 'other universes as fiction' thing that goes on here? Back where she comes from she's played, uh..." he trailed off his explanation to Sans and looked at Melanie to ask, "what was it?"

"Undertale! Come on! It's only like the best game of all time! And he's the best character in it! How could you not know!?" Melanie exclaimed, motioning at Sans while she looked at Silvester.

"Uh, I don't think that exists in my universe, that's how" Silvester replied calmly. "Come on Mel, we're clearly bothering him" he added, motioning for Melanie to follow as he took a few steps away.

"B-but it's, come on! It's Undertale, and Sans..." Melanie muttered, looking torn as to what to do.

Meanwhile, Miss Tairee looked at Jack and seemed to think over his request. "And I take it you're asking because none of the ones out there work for you? No, I suppose you never would have bothered learning to fly something like a plane, since you can fly on your own" Miss Tairee stated, typing on her computer for a bit. "... Do you know how to windsurf? You know, those things that are like a surfboard with a sail on them?" Miss Tairee asked, clarifying after realizing that Jack might think 'windsurf' was his normal method of flight.

"No, do not trouble yourself." Lothric shook his head. The man before them was quite a strange one, wasn't he? "I doubt you can help in the first place. Some injuries are meant to be worn on your shoulder, so to say."

He looked over at Lune just as Lorian looked at Cole in more detail, hunching a little and still being enormous despite that and the fact he walked on his knees. "Greetings. My name is Lothric and this is my brother Lorian." He gestured towards his elder brother, currently regarding Cole with mild suspicion.

Library - things falling together

So in that girl's world, everything about his was just a game. That... actually made a good amount of sense. The actions and behavior of the kid seemed unnatural, like there was something controlling them and, well, it turns out there was. There wouldn't be a "player" in his world though, so he wondered if there was something else in play there.

Either way, the lady seemed to be a little distressed, she clearly loved the "game" and she seemed particularly fond of him too, it was odd to be treated like some sort of celebrity even if it was just by one person, but he figured he might as well try to be a little nicer to her.

"listen, lady, it's nice to know someone who likes me the way you do, but just... try to tone down the hype a little bit, 'k?" He told her, then trying to think of anything he could do for her, "do you want, like, an autograph or something? i could give you one."

Jack thought the question over. He'd never actually done it himself, of course. There hadn't been a point, and the opportunity had never presented itself otherwise, anyway. But, he'd seen it done and a lot of it seemed to be balance and paying attention to the wind; Both things he was highly skilled at. It couldn't be that hard to pick it up right? The spirit nodded at Tairee. "Yeah, I've got the basics of it. How will one of those work, though? There's no wind out there."

While the librarian said this book was only a possibility, that was good enough for Lucas. He said to the librarian "I... Only need it to see if they're all alive." He then walked over to a place to sit and started to flip through the book.

He wasn't focusing on the story, as he didn't want to worry about a mere possibility. He was skimming through the pages for names, mentally checking down a list. By the end of the book, he had seen everyone from Lighter to something that could only be Porky. His name scanning prevented him from seeing things like Flint falling into depression over seemingly losing another son.

Since he missed anything sad, the result of this endeavor was a terrific increase in confidence. It was like a weight was lifted off his shoulders. Even if it was only a possibility, his existence after pulling the last needle couldn't impact if everyone else lived. In other words, everyone would be there to greet him when he got back.

Lucas got up and returned the book to the librarian, all with a beaming smile on his face. He was about to walk away when a thought struck him. Mother 3 meant there were at least two others. Lucas asked the librarian "Can I have... Mother 2?"

Cole offered a slight bow to the two brothers, apparently unaware of any negativity in either reaction. "It is nice to meet you both. My name is Cole. The librarian is named Miss Tairee, if you need anything, she can help you. This library is...well. I think there are explanations at her desk there, but...I can't read them so I am not sure."

He looked towards Wells when the man asked his question, looking a little concerned before wandering over closer. "I...sh-she does leave...doesn't she? A-and...she doesn't...she c-can't protect anyone while she isn't here..."

The second half of what Wells said, Cole had to think about a moment longer, looking around at everyone in the library, biting at his lip. It wouldn't be the least bit difficult to tell that the very prospect terrified him, but he let out a shaky breath and nodded slowly. "...i-if you...a-all right. There...there are enough people here that could...s-stop me if I..."

With another slight wince, he reached down, lifting the amulet off from where it rested, then held it out towards Wells. "H-here...it will take me a moment to reach out across everything...t-to locate the demon. J-just give me a minute..."

Library - Gearing up

Sans readily agreeded to her suggestion, also noting that her had teach Ben how to make use of his new form.

"Yeah, I saw that. That will definitely wil be of great help," she said. Sans then began to rummage through the bag, then asked what she had gotten in the story, to which she responded, "Well, some of those sandwiches, Crab Apples, Sea Teas for other people ... " Her eyes widened as she realized something, what she had missed in all the rush ... "Oh ... I forgot to pick up some ketchup this time ... Sorry. I was kinda in a rush and I'm not used to think of it as a food by itself ... "

Right then, a duo came up to them, with the girl, who neither of them seemed to know, gushing over Sans and mentioning things about him that she shouldn't have known, as Sans protested. They were soon given an explanation, but it was quite an unsettling one. Apparently there was some sort of game where the girl came from, based on Sans's world. Noting what the girl had said about routes, which didn't know the exact meaning of, but given what she had somewhat clarified later, it seemed that it was some kind of choice. So ... people who played it could choose to act like the child in Sans' world had? She couldn't help feeling a bit creeped out about that ... But perhaps that meant there was a better option? Where the child didn't kill everyone? Not that she should dwell on that, anyway ... She certainly wasn't pull any stunts like one from two days ago.

Sans, as usual, then took it in stride and the girl an autograph. It was weird to think that people could be famous somewhere else, in an entire different reality ... Was she also known somewhere. She thought back to what Sans had said about the cartoons his friend watched. Maybe she really was on something like that, somewhere ...

She wouldn't dwell much more on that for now, however. She still had preparations to take care of. Miss Tairee seemed to have gotten back to her desk, so now was just as good a time as any.

She quickly turned to Sans, hastily saying, "I will leave to this, I gotta some unfinished business with Miss Tairee. I should be right back ... "

She then quickly went over to the librarian's desk and then said to her, "Hey there again, Miss Tairee. I thought about what you said before and I think that a sanctified spear would be good. And if you could provide to carry it in easily, that would be great too."

We're Not Even In Space, Anymore
Even if Seiga had no idea how to fly spacecraft, in retrospect it probably would've been a better idea than letting the drunk man drive. It's pretty easy to avoid the constant bumps if you're in mid-air, but the idea of crashing and dying wasn't a good one. Seiga spent the majority of the landing looking more annoyed than anything, because unlike Viola who can't do anything, it looks like Rick might as well be actively hindering her if he kept it up like this.

She outwardly groaned when they landed on some other unfortunate thing. Rick, you're doing great with first impressions, keep it up!

Yoshika took the ride without even bracing herself, because the constant tumbling and whatnot was pretty dang fun. As the ship lurched to a halt, she slid headfirst at Seiga's feet, ecstatic. She looked up, and mumbled, "I like this kind of flying."

It was strange that Rick would endanger his own kin by being in close proximity to them, let alone driving drunk, but there could still be hope for the man. He could pull out some kind of insane competency out of his ass, even if that was unlikely at this rate. Seiga sighed, trying to stay positive about all of this, and put on a pretty high-quality forced smile. "So. Now that we've arrived, we're here to do something, right? What did you have in mind?"

As soon as Ms. Tairee materialized the Estoc, Lune briefly studied it and placed the french sword into her equipment. Let's hope it has its uses.

Lune didn't even give a response to Cole at all and just blushed out of embarrassment. Was he implying that Rex was her boyfriend?! Also, Sans laughing at her just rubbed salt into the proverbial wound! Thank goodness San's occupied by that fangirl asking him questions!

Lune sighed and looked back at Lothric and Lorian. At least, they're polite about things. “It's nice to meet you two! I'm Lune Zoldark!”

"So I understood." Lothric nodded in confirmation. "If you cannot read them, perhaps you can tell me what you know of the place in question."

Lorian looked a few more moments at Cole before shuffling his stare at Lune. His brother followed suit soon. "A pleasure to meet you, M'Lady." For now he was content in just listening to what was happening in the busy library at the moment, taking in the sound and the conversations. It was lively and noisy. He liked it.

Tairee seemed to share Rex's feelings about Kelsey's situation but she once again made it perfectly clear that he simply could not force Kelsey to stay in the library. This also applied to anyone in the building. Maybe they should try to stop that from happening in the first place.

"Well, we can still keep people from entering, right?"

Walking back Rex overheard Cole asking Lune about him and the nature of their relationship. It was... awkward to say the least. Luckily, the conversation didn't go any further because Cole introduced the new arrivals to the library to her.

Rex really needed to talk to the spirit about that. Maybe later, when they could talk in private. Right now, it was introduction time. Rex recognized most of the people there except for a few normal looking people, and two really big guys. To someone not used to it, Lothric and Lorian would look incredibly weird but Rex was the sort of guy that had fought living trees, giant worms, and a multi-headed fish abomination. After that sort of thing, meeting a giant guy carrying another giant guy on his back wasn't that big of a deal.

"Three others are various chemicals I specifically designed to combat the Ruckus, but are completely untested and possibly incomplete, thus making them very dangerous. Hopefully, they managed to kill themselves with them before they can use it. The last is more of a party trick and thus inconsequential."

Ara Haan (Library) - Lucky Charm...?

With the sudden arrival of a few other people, including a few people with green hands on their clothes, the overall mood in the library seemed to be improving a little... maybe. Well, at least it encouraged Ara to relax a little bit and take a look around. It did not take her long to notice the large box with many, many amulets inside. Amulets that looked rather familiar.

She turned her head momentarily towards Cole. It was very similar, if not identical, to the one he was wearing. Which... confused her a little. Why did he like that amulet so much if there were so many of them? Did it mean something special? And why were there so many of them there in the first place, all inside the same box?

"Uhm... excuse me, Miss Tairee?" she asked the librarian as she lifted one amulet from the box, no longer able to restrain her curiosity. "What are these? And why are there so many in this box?"

"Eee! Yes, please!" Melanie squealed in absolute joy and excitement. She quickly rummaged around her person for something that Sans could autograph, and settled on the rubber horse mask, turning it inside out first since the inside of it was blank.

Meanwhile, Miss Tairee regarded the number of people currently talking to her, and sighed lightly before stating, "one moment please." After a few moments of typing on her keyboard, there was a blur in an open spot a few feet away from the desks, and there appeared, once again, a second Miss Tairee. The Miss Tairee still sitting at the desk, hereby referred to as Miss Tairee 1, looked at Jack as she kept typing on the computer. "Well it's not exactly that, but it handles more or less the same way; you'll see. What I can say for now is that you'll want to make sure the sail stays in sunlight more often than not" Miss Tairee 1 said to him, as some kind of large board thing (with the sail currently folded up) appeared near Jack, currently leaning against one of the couches.

With that done, Miss Tairee 1 then looked to Lucas. "Now, Mother 2? Very well. Would you like the game, or a book summary?" Miss Tairee 1 asked him, still typing away.

The other Miss Tairee, obviously from hereby referred to as Miss Tairee 2, looked to Caro. "A spear? Hmm, I think I know just the thing... Though it will be less powerful than they normally would be- then again you wouldn't be capable of using the original version to its full potential, so I'd call that even" Miss Tairee 2 said, flicking her wrist to bring up the holographic screen from her bracelet and started typing on it.

While this was going on, Wells looked at the amulet Cole was holding out for a moment, then held up hand, palm forward. "Hold on a moment boy" Wells told the spirit, then looked over at his militia members. "Nails, get on the horn, channel 93, and tell those news casters about the demon, Yael, and our former Ruckus friend who just left. We need people around the city to know to be on the lookout for them" the lieutenant ordered.

"Yes sir" Nails said, walking away to one edge of the large lobby so he could speak on his walkie talkie while hopefully not disturbing anyone.

Then Wells looked over at the two Miss Tairees. "Miss librari-ans?... Right, ahem. Miss librarian, of these sanctified weapons, I want many copies of whatever you think would be the most practical and easiest to use. I also want several phones, as a backup in case our radio channels are compromised again" Wells requested of Miss Tairee 2.

Miss Tairee 2 paused her typing for a moment, seeming to think this over. "Well then, lots of halberds it is" Miss Tairee 2 muttered, and hit a few more keys before entering it in. There was a blur and a large stack of large halberds, which seemed to be a metallic chrome appeared. Then she continued typing, preparing to make the cell phones Wells requested, and answered Rex in the meantime. "If you can manage to keep someone from reaching any of the ten doors outside, then yes. But if you try to barricade the doors directly, I would have to prevent that" the secondary librarian told him. Then she looked at Ara.

"Wraithbone amulets. They prevent warp daemons, such as the Lord of Change in charge of Ruckus, and similar entities from getting into your mind" Miss Tairee 2 explained to her.

Wells meanwhile looked back to Cole. "Alright. Now let's go boy" Wells said, taking the offered amulet. He also drew his phaser pistol, though kept it pointed at the floor and simply stated, "just a precaution."

Radio channel 94

With nothing to report on for a while, Adam and Jeff had decided to play some music, and looked through the songs they had available there. They found one that they considered rather odd, since it was attributed to someone that, in their universe, they knew of as a famous physicist. Having decided that it seemed appropriate to the fact that the day's theme was space, they put it on.

Once the song ended, it faded back to the casters, though there was a brief pause before Jeff's voice spoke. "Alright people, it sounds like we've finally got some news. While that song was playing, somebody from the militia called us, and Adam's talking to him right now. I'm just waiting for them to finish up and then we'll see what's up."

Almost a half minute later, there was some mic adjustment noises, and Adam's voice came in. "... Yes! We now have an important bulletin for everybody listening, about people you should be on the lookout for; so you might want to turn up that dial and pay attention, because you'll want to hear this. I'll be going in order of most to least important, so first up is none other than that demon, the big guy in charge of Ruckus. This thing goes by the alias of 'Old Feather Beak', and is a big, bird person; two arms, two legs, long neck and a big beak for a mouth, and big wings coming out its back. It's covered in blue feathers, wears white priest-style robes, and has a big staff with a funky symbol on the top. Now according to the guy I talked to, this demon is a master of illusions and mind tricks, so be wary if you see him because things might not be what they seem around you; in fact you might not actually be seeing him and he could be somewhere completely different, like right behind you about to totally bumfuck you. It was also made clear to me in no uncertain terms that this guy is not to be flexed with; unless you are an absolute badass backed up by a team of more badasses. That's not his words, I'm paraphrasing" Adam's voice began.

"Now next up is the demon's right hand man, a quarian of all things, named 'Yael'. Now, the most distinguishing thing about a quarian is that they are always wearing a special suit because they have no immune system, so they've gotta be in the suit or else if you sneezed on them they would die. The thing that stands out the most about this suit is their faceplate; the whole front is like a big glass thing going from their nose up, but it's actually really opaque. You can pretty much only see the outline of their head, plus their eyes, because their eyes glow through the mask. This guy is known to be pretty competent and dangerous, and I know his suit is probably equipped with some goodies like an energy shield and maybe a future multi-tool thing; however he doesn't seem to have any powers of his own to speak of" Adam's voice continued on at length.

"Last we have a former member of Ruckus who, from what I was told, claims she's no longer affiliated, but she's also mentally unstable and dangerously equipped, and the militia's worried she might flip back to Ruckus' side again. Now she's a normal human, though right now she's got some red colored power armor with a gold skull mask and horns, so I think even in this place, you probably can't miss her. She's also got a pair of axes that are also chainsaws, so be mindful of that" Adam's voice finished.

"Axes that are also chainsaws?" Jeff's voice asked.

"That's what the militia guy told me. Heck if I know how it works, though it sounds kind of awesome to be honest" Adam's voice replied, then added, "now folks if you see any of these three people, the militia recommends you get the hell away from them, and if possible find some way to contact the militia and let them know where those people were and what they were doing."

Cole might have given a slightly uncertain look to Wells's gun, but he seemed understanding enough, just closing his eyes a moment, taking a breath to center himself. Then he opened his eyes, glowing green, looking around his surroundings a moment. "It's all right. I'm still me. I'm just looking for him."

Then he seemed to jump as though startled, breath catching in his throat a moment, looking rather perturbed. "H-he is...he is c-closer than I expected..." Still, he didn't seem to think any sort of attack was imminent, as he settled, frowning and tilting his head, looking as though he were having to focus a little harder on whatever it was he was doing.

Another soft gasp. "I can't...I can't see into his mind, his power is blocking me out, b-but..."

His voice changed slightly, enough that the others in the room who had heard the demon would recognize it as something as close to its voice as Cole's mimicry could come. "So you've come out of hiding, Compassion? You and your friends must have something planned; I know you wouldn't be trying to reach me directly on your own..."

He went silent for a moment, seemingly as long as it would take for the radios any of them might have on to play the message from the radio men. Then he spoke again. "I must say, Compassion, I do not take pleasure from the idea of using methods more akin to those of my Khornate counterparts. But those mortals you admire so much leave me with no other options. If I cannot raise an army through subterfuge, I will simply have to break the will of all who oppose me, the hard way."

Cole winced at that, looking more and more frightened the longer he repeated what he was hearing, before speaking again. "He's shielding himself and most of his...b-but there's someone...he's not...if I can...push past the demon's aura, I can...I can see..."

There was a small wince, a soft noise like someone making a tremendous physical effort, as Cole seemingly tried to do just that, eyes closing with the effort of trying to get in close enough to see what was going on.

Library - shutdown

That was not something Sans was expecting to sign. Either way, he merely shrugged as he got his pen from the dimensional box and wrote his name on it.

"here ya go."

Then he began hearing the people on the radio talking to everybody about the details of the Ruckus and not too long afterwards Cole began speaking, mimicking the voice of the demon, apparently he was closer than the kid expected, how much, Sans couldn't tell. The bird was going to try the "break them until they give up" approach to get more people to follow him, that sounded about what he expected and made him even more sure they would try breaking him by using Caro.

Then he heard Cole talk about how the demon was shielding himself and his allies from any further inspection, except for one and the kid immediately tried to force his way through it. Sans' eyes widened as he realized that the demon might as well be leading Cole right into some trap, what kind, he had no idea, but he wasn't about to let that happen.

Sans took of his amulet and held it in his hand, then quickly moved over to Cole through teleportation, touching him with the amulet so as to disable his powers for now.

"don't. there's no reason for that thing to conveniently leave one unguarded person for you to get to. he's leading you into another trap," said Sans, noticing that Cole was already making a lot of effort to break through, "i don't wanna risk it again, you've done enough." He sighed

Viola I Library I Mini-Miss Exposition

"Reason?" He thinks there's a reason why everyone was chosen here? He must not have met the librarian or read the pamphlets from downstairs, then. Being a good girl that I am, I was expected to explain the situation to him.

Oh well. I'm taking a short break from reading, anyway. Might as well entertain him, for the time being.

"Yes, there is a reason why we're here. Me, and by that extension you and everyone else here, have been selected to be brought into this world against our will, all for the sake of inspiration. Said otherworldly being goes by many names by the tenants here, though I prefer to call him the Author. To him, this world is nothing more but a game. A game, used to fuel his creativity for his own work."

"As for how you're here, you just so happen to unfortunate enough to be randomly plucked by him. How considerate of our captor, don't you think?~" I answered him finally. "If you want more details on this, just ask the librarian downstairs. There's certainly more that I could tell you, but she knows the situation a lot better than I do, being the general arbitrator and assistant of the ones who brought us here."

The library

Estebone looked concerned. "We dealt with the Ruckus using bombs earlier today, let's just hope they didn't get a hold of your experimental ones," he replied to Plague Knight. "Well, I'll try and get your stuff back if I can find it, but the City is a big place, especially now that it's in outer space."

He winced back when he heard Cole begin to channel the demon. He glared. "Hey, if Old Chicken Face is listening, tell him he can't break me! I'd break him in half, any day of the week! You hear that, vulture? I ain't scared of you! The City Knights are coming for ya!" He crossed his arms, smirking a bit.

I can still hail the Horde even though the company has shamed us. Strength and Honor even if Blizzard has neither.

The Judge - The Library - Confirmation

Hmm, so it was true. Or at least, it had more of a chance of being true, now that another person had confirmed this theory. But as far as he knew, everybody was lying. The girl—Viola—said that there was more information downstairs. "Thank you for your input," he said, turning around and making his way towards the stairs. "I hope we can hold a proper conversation later in our undetermined future." He hopped down, taking the stairs two at a time until he reached the ground floor, then jumped onto the main desk where the librarian was sitting. The second time. The first time he rammed his face into the little ledge where the desk jutted out. Nonetheless, he made it.

"Pardon me, ma'am," he said when she looked ready, "I realize that you are terribly busy at this moment, but I would like to inquire on this realm of existence that I have been placed in. From what I've so meticulously gathered, I—as well as others—have been 'selected' by a being beyond our comprehension, referred to as 'The Author' by a young lady upstairs. if it is within your abilities, I would greatly appreciate it if you delineated this process to me, as well as why we have been chosen in the first place."

Library

"Very well, book it is" Miss Tairee 1 said with a slight shrug, and hit a few keys on her keyboard. A book came flying out of the fourth floor into the open space above the desks, and came down to deposit itself in front of Lucas. Mother 2, the book it was titled simply, with a picture of a different boy beneath that.

With that handled, Miss Tairee 1 glanced over as a cat approached the desk and awkwardly slammed into it. Miss Tairee just kept staring, blinking once, until it managed to jump up with its second attempt, and spoke, to which she did not seem surprised in the slightest. "You've been brought here for inspiration on his latest project. You were all chosen at random; there was no other reason" Miss Tairee 1 answered him simply. "That's really all I'm allowed to share on the subject currently. Would you like a pamphlet about the city?" the librarian then asked, motioning to the display of pamphlets on the desk.

Meanwhile, Cole's attempt to get into the mind of the Ruckus member who was not currently possessed was by no means easy due to the daemon's aura; it was like trying to push through a bramble thicket with your arms, but there did not seem to be any active resistance on Old Feather Beak's part. None that Cole could perceive, at the very least. He could only grab brief snippets of disjointed information however: That time he was late for soccer practice when he was seven years old; Old Feather Beak was leaving him un-possessed on purpose; his second ex-girlfriend throwing coffee in his face; it was an important task and Old Feather Beak couldn't be in his head for it; having to shoot himself inside the submarine because the hatch was jammed and the whole thing was flooding; his task was to-

And then it was gone as Sans shoved the amulet onto Cole. Wells didn't protest, though did give a small, "hmph" as he looked towards Ben suddenly walking up and being boisterous. The lieutenant then handed Cole his own amulet back. "I would've preferred if we could get more, but you are probably right. And it's not my place to ask him to take that risk" Wells said to Sans, then looked to Cole and asked, "I don't suppose, did you get anything else?"
