Huh, so this was a mix of two days I suggested, zombie apocalypse and desert. Totally called the first one though

Boy Sans probably lucked out the most out of everyone. The heat probably doesn't bother him, he already ate during Day 8 so he's in a better position than most other characters when it comes down to food and hey he might not even water to begin with.

The benefits of being a skeleton

Ben ate a whole bunch of pizza yesterday, though he was also in the form of a chameleon so who knows, maybe "a whole bunch" to a chameleon isn't a whole lot to a 10-year-old boy.

I can still hail the Horde even though the company has shamed us. Strength and Honor even if Blizzard has neither.

So basically, it's time for so much shit to hit the fan that the fan will be buried in shit, then all the shit becomes dirt and the fan will be unearthed millenia later and marveled as a wonder of ancient engineering. Sounds good to me!

I'm not overly fond of post apocalyptic stuff either, or at least of this relatively mundane kind, but I'll manage. It's not like Zelda's going to be leaving the library much today.

Jack is pretty much set. He doesn't need to eat, drink, sleep, and is always cool. The heat might irritate him a bit, but otherwise he's good.

I also had a realization of one of the 'zombie' types that could show up since they fit the criteria.

Necromorphs. Sounds like fun.

EDIT: I just realized something. If there's no electricity, does that mean the cell tower no longer functions, and our characters' cell phones are useless for communicating?

@Firock: So I have a questions regarding this day. Do the zombies retain their powers and abilities? Can the water be filtered or otherwise change to become drinkable or is it poison no matter what?

@Thrall: If Ben retained the same energy he had when he was a chameleon, he would have died. I think it's fair to assume that having a meal is having a meal, no matter how big the character is.

Rex still needs to eat and drink water but at least his superhuman endurance might help him in this one.

The pet food thing reminds me that one phone call conversation where Papyrus says that Sans told him he eats dogfood.

Actually I just remebered that the bag of food Sans got is still in the library since nobody really ate much of it at all.

I'm gonna handwave Cole into the library, but he won't resurface till a little later. Suffice it to say he's going to be in rare form since fighting undead in a desert is something he has plenty of experience with

So yes, Cole is probably going to end up overexerting himself and passing out later, but for now, he's doing his part in leaving chopped up zombies around the entrance.

Now I'm grabbing a nap before I head back up to my sister's.

And Sans' journal is updated though I haven't included the stuff that happened on Day 8 yet

I'm probably gonna do it when I have Sans take another time to sit down and write, right now he's busy with Zelda

Congrats! Must be tough, getting a Masters. For me, I got 3 years left on my Bachelor. Assuming if I pass without fail <<

Just stopping in for a bit before work; don't have time for a main post.

@Thrall: I thought I made it clear to you over skype that such a day as this was coming; I just didn't specify Day 9 because I didn't want to spoil. I know you don't like it but it was one of the most requested kind of day among a lot of the other players.

Also, please don't put words into my mouth rules. I didn't say all the water was contaminated, just that the water generated by player items/abilities is. That plus the plumbing being off is just supposed to cut off the easy routes.

Water bottles, cans of soda, juice cartons, jugs of milk, and things like those that you find at stores or in the random houses are still safe to drink. (Though the milk would not be pleasant.) The point is that you need to scavenge.

As for what the water that your abilities can make is contaminated with: It's basically sewage; even if it looks clear it would certainly smell and taste awful and be unsafe to drink.

@Cell tower: Yes, it is currently offline unless you guys find/make a generator.

Do you mean they retain the powers and abilities of the person who they were before? IE zombie!Rex retaining his nanites stuff? Almost certainly not, since they fully change into the type of zombie that had killed them.

Do you mean the zombies themselves retaining the abilities that they are supposed to have as that type of zombie? Yes, as long as those abilities are balanced as per the signup rules.

@Animals: There's a few that got dragged into the city like everyone else in the city did.

@Main thread, people reacting to the heat: It's still just after midnight right now, the city isn't super hot. Yet.

There was a few hours timeskip between wrapping the last day and midnight, which is when people would have been getting sleep.

The gunfire that's waking them up started literally seconds after midnight; it's various armed people throughout the city, including some Ruckus, encountering the zombies that just suddenly spawned in.

That's why my post specifically mentioned fake moonlight, not sunlight, and why the library is still pitch dark. (Even with all the lights off in the height of the day it would be fairly lit throughout given its window arrangement.)
