She didn’t want to watch any of the original film to prepare. She wanted to the performance her own.
Also, Dick’s performance as Mr. Dawes Sr. actually had a decent British accent. I’m sure Dawes Jr. (the character he is playing in the sequel) does as well.

Well if they want to be faithful to the original it will be meant to be Geordie but actually be... Something else entirely.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."oh no,his accent will be horrendous Scouse
New theme music also a boxWhat, did Dick Van Dyke play Bert and Mr. Dawes?
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Yep! In the original, he was Bert and the Bank Owner. In fact, I believe almost no one on set knew it was him until he told them due to the makeup.
Huh O.o Neither did I.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.The new animated segments kind of look like a 2D-animated Zootopia.
"I shall not be foolish again, my dear Gwendolyn!"To be clear, it sounds like rap in the most general definition of rhythmic speaking (kind of like Rex Harrison), not record scratches or anything hip hop.
So what your saying is that dub step in the Mary Poppins is a great idea!
New theme music also a boxNo, the opposite as a matter of fact.
One of the songs has been released. Wow, this sounds like a Cut Song from the original.
Here is the other one.
Not really...they nail the style, but both of the songs are kind of generic and boring. (Sorry).
I was told that the animated sequence is the highlight of a movie that is way, way too long. I want to see it and make up my own mind, but I miss when movies like this were less than two hours. Especially because I think trying to find ways to add forty minutes to Beauty and the Beast actively hurt it(I know that they are not made by the same team).
This film is nine minutes shorter than the original and the latter was two hours and nineteen minutes long.
Then I guess it doesn't use its runtime well?
Long movies can feel very short if they are well-paced and entertaining. But yeah, the original Mary Poppins is pretty long. It's a musical after all. The dance numbers alone fill a lot of screen time.

I believe all the songs have been released.
I really like this one. It sounds great.
So, movie is out, isnt it?
Hows it doing?
I wonder if Emily Blunt went to Julie Andrews for pointers on how to act like Mary Poppins.
And I'm sure Dick Van Dyke will still have the same horrendous Cockney accent.
