Black Clover Manga Thread

Regarding Vanessa and the other witches, are they supposed to be human or not? Because we've established that other magical races besides humans exist, but those seem to have some distinguishing traits that I'm not sure if the witches are supposed to have.

It's hard to say whether they're an actual Witch Species or simply a different culture of mages.

They are unique in that all of their magic is specialized in curses and familiars, but I don't know if that's because they are a different race.

Though the Witch Queen is apparently mother to them all so that certainly adds something.

Would that mean all the Witches are Vanessa's sisters?

For what it's worth, whoever handles the Black Clover wiki classifies the Witches as Human.

The different races in that wiki are Human, Elf, Dwarf, Spirit, and Devil.

Since I'm fairly certain this is not the final arc of the manga, who do you think will be the next antagonist?

We never did quite resolve the matters with the Diamond Kingdom, and there's still Asta's own Devil.

I’m gonna go with the diamond king being the next main villain. We are prolly not gonna deal with more demon stuff immediately especially after just having a demon antagonist so the most natural next direction would be dealing with the already established diamond kingdom.

Orcs, Trolls, Shespiders, and Goblins.

Granted, that might still involve Devils in some form. Wanna bet the Diamond King is actually a Devil in disguise? Or is working with one?

That is true & let’s be real I can expect it to go that way or at least partly like that.

We already revealed that the elves war with the humans & genocide by them was all caused by them just being manipulated by a demon.

What’s another instance of humans being compelled by an evil third party to commit acts of atrocities?

Nah the humans are still to blame. He pointed them to trinkets that could make them powerful to fuel their egos.

Since FF XIV was brought up, I guess it'd also be possible that the future antagonist would be a Magitek-based Empire that, unlike everyone else in the setting, cannot use magic.

Heck, maybe this would turn out to be Asta's true origin.

Then again, if there actually was an entire empire full of people who cannot use magic, the Witch Queen wouldn't have considered Asta to be so unusual.

Clearly theyreside in another land far away.

Plus, it doesn't seem like the Witch Queen gets out much anyway. Maybe her knowledge of the outside world is a wee bit out of date.

The demon just pointed them in the right direction for his own reasons, but the humans aren't totally innocent.

Though I think he also made sure to corrupt or kill more reasonable humans to prevent anyone on that end from stopping it.

So the humans are kinda victims in a way as well in that they were played, but still hold a lot of responsibility.

No Sympathy.

This fiction. Humans are always the worst in fiction, just like in Real Life.

A demon or eldritch horror can always try, but humans are so much more creative in their depravity.

We did invent exporting customer service to countries that don't speak the language of the country they're supposed to be serving, so, yeah, humans are the font of all malice.

I mean, technically speaking it could be that all intelligent life is awful when grouped together

On the topic of status quo changes, here they are.

Election of a new Magic King, William Vengenace most likely stepping down as captain for being complicit in Patri’s terrorism (5 bucks Yuno becomes the new captain of the Golden Dawn), Noelle’s family now respecting her rendering her character arc done (unless they bring in her father & have him be worse than her siblings), the elves moving on from this world, & a probable change in the noble system cause I don’t see the elves moving on unless some justice is done.

By 'stepping down' we mean 'dying in prison?' He's kind of...complicit in mass murder and some serious acts of terrorism

Logically yes his ass should be jailed forever for betraying his own nation by keeping under wraps the identity of a dangerous terrorist simply cause he liked the guy.

But this is still shonen & they tend to be pretty lenient about this stuff. I feel like Vengeance will just get a slap on the wrist in the end.

Depends on how Patri himself is treated. They’ll prolly be made to work off their sins or something.

Someone should inflict his name on him.

Vengeance does need to pay for not doing more to stop Patri from killing the Magic Emperor.

He knew full well the latter was a good person who'd have helped Patri find the truth, but he pussied out and refused to choose between them, which is functionally the same as helping to kill the Emperor since he knew full well he was the only Human Patri liked.

But Shonen is woefully forgiving at times. This is why people are going berserk on Endeavour over in Hero Academia.
