Okay I was just on Youtube and Gigguk did a vid on Slime Isekai-whatever, which revealed to me that apparently some lizard-people get it on in Overlord wait what how huh.
Okay so I'll be catching up on this soon. What. why. huh. What?
EDIT: Whhhhhhhhhhhhhhy
EDIT 2: If Ainz is really this all powerful sorcerer/god-skeleton among men then... if he's so flustered by Albedo, can't he just, I don't know, cast a roofy spell on her and rewrite her memory? Does he lack brainwashing spells?
Also I'm pretty sure Shalltear betrays him later so... how does that get resolved without him undoing the brainwashing?

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!1. Liches don't have penises.
2. Liches emotions get inhibited pretty quickly upon feeling them. Even powerful ones.
3. Ainz has standards that apply only to his guild and their creations. Everyone else is fucked.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.I meant why not just rewrite her memory so she's not into him. Change her personality with his god-tier magic?
Admittedly "roofy spell" was not the ideal choice of words. It sounded funnier in my head.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Mind affecting magic is super hard. Just looking at one dude's memory ran Ainz out of mana in like thirty seconds
Lizard people are basically a side thing in the start of season two, you can pretty much just watch them without needing context.
"Also I'm pretty sure Shalltear betrays him later so... how does that get resolved without him undoing the brainwashing? "
If you really want an answer: he kills her in an epic battle and then resurrects her sans brainwashing. Or just watch the show, it ain't that long.
so killing her is easier than just brainwashing her I mean I get that but...
So mind magic is hard, but "obliterate the f-ck out of your enemies/turn your Squishy Wizard self into a Physical God" magic is easy?
Right. How apropo.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Summoning Baby Goats is super easy.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Recall that the only brainwashing magic we have seen so far was a World Item.
Disgusted, but not surprisedYeah, she was brainwashed by an uber-artefact. IIRC he also tried to use a pretty-high tier item to remove the effect from her before engaging in battle, to no result. Nobody was even sure if killing and rebuilding her would undo it at all.

Does narrative acknowledge it? Or it goes the way of "Protagonist Center Morality" media go and tries instead to focus on how evil people, who fall upon Ainz's wrath are? This is a legitimate question, i remember watching anime, and (most of the Workers aside) all Ainz's enemies either so evil that they gload how evil they are and how they going to eat/kill/rape innocent people (before they get humiliatingly and sometimes very brutally killed by Ainz or send to Nazarick to get tortured) or completely ineffective people, who are embodiment of "Being Good Sucks".

Ainz is absolutely supposed to be seen as evil.
Thanks for answer. But my next question is whether he supposed to be seen as "Necessary Evil" type of villain, who despite being evil stil brings peace and stability to the world and is more effective at that than the good guys?
Edited by VeryVileVillian on Dec 29th 2018 at 5:38:53 PM
There is no "good guy" faction, there are only people/rulers who are good and don't care much about those not under their rule.

There aren't really any heroic factions, just a bunch of countries that are furthering their own interests or whatever. And he's not a necessary evil by any means, just the new big kid in the block that can do basically whatever he wants and is mostly just limited by his own caution and lack of ambition. Cause he's kind of a loser, which a lot of people seem to overlook.
I've been told the light novels are much more explicit about it, but even just watching the anime I don't see how anyone could get the idea that Ainz and his people aren't supposed to be quintessential bad guys. Like, they basically wear their evil on their sleeves.

Demiurge has some of his nastier shit offscreen or in the novels that shows how hes no better than the worse scum Ainz has killed too.
I've only heard some of the lesser NP Cs like one of Albedos sisters and a couple others disagreed with the butcher of the workers entering Nazarick. So even if there are ones that don't they don't have the authority to defy the death Done in Ainz name.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession. To be fair it's quite easy to forget. He is a loser, but he was also a leader of one of the most (if not the most) powerful guild in Yggdrasil, which dungeon is completely unbeatable. Also he is extremely overpowered Lich, who (as narrative says) "brings peace and prosperety" to the world, so (expecially with being surrounded by factions that are worse than him) it's also easy for many people to forget that he is supposed to be like extremely evil.
We repeatedly get insight into how he and his people think though. It shouldn't be that hard.
Being the leader of a powerful video game guild is a big part of why he's such a loser, actually, because it means he dedicated his entire life to a world that doesn't exist and has no meaning due to having no real friends or family. Also, he became the leader because he was a doormat that was easy to get along with.
Also, he sure didn't bring peace and prosperity to his slaves, the helpless soldiers of the kingdom or the holy kingdom.
Lizard Men didn't seem to mind being in chains.

The problem is the Evil Is Cool. I didn't watch past the first season but is there someone that is supposed to be able to threaten and eventually end his evil, or is this just going to have The Bad Guy Wins?
The latter.
Then it's going to be a pass for me then. Enough bad guys win in real life.
The Lizardmen are under Cocytus who is one of the least shitty folks in Nazarick. If it was Shalltear, Demiurge, Albedo, etc. their lives would be hell.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.
Speaking of her not doing much, I find it kind of amusing how token she is. Like the editor told him 'Hey put in a hot demon chick for fanservice' and the author agreed and put her in Demiurge's position, then totally ignores her and uses Demiurge anyway.
