The trailers don't tell you everything about a series. Both of those things were mentioned in the first episode.
I love this. I rarely see anime like this nowadays. It's dark but not grimmdark, the setting interesting, and I liked the action.

something i found out from reading the manga that this trailer doesn't mention: Nicholas Brown is deaf, and communicates using sign language. he can read lips and can speak, but only does so rarely.
