You're on TV Tropes. Nitpicking is kinda what we do here.
Optimism is a duty.Positive nitpicks?
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.And criticisms, where necessary, yes.
Excessive negativity, however, is frowned upon to the point there's an entire forum thread dedicated to dealing with it.
I can't say myself, I haven't been paying strict attention to the current conversation.
Agreed.

I wouldn’t say anyone’s being excessively negative here, at least not recently.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I don't really have an issue with the criticism, but it's when I see things like specifically saying
Over a writing decision...
Me neither. If anything, people are being excessively negative about other people having an opinion they do not like.
Optimism is a duty.True, but that was ages ago and we addressed it when it happened.
You guys know I’m against excessive unfair negativity and hatedom moments, and have responded to it whenever it happens, but trying to shut down conversation whenever anyone has any criticism period isn’t the way to deal with it. It’s just encouraging negativity in an entirely different way.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I typically just try to ignore posts by people I associate with that kind of excessive negativity unless it seems ridiculous enough to be worth calling out.
Sorry for bringing that up.
I think overhauling a character completely isn't really a problem in itself, especially when the original version was inherently problematic in every way. It's why the idea that him being overhauled for the better, even as it makes him a better character, to be a problem, is where I find it to be a bad nitpick.
Heck some of my favorite version of certain characters of stories were adapted entirely differently in different media to the point they don't resemble the original at all.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession. You really think Doofus is overhauled for the better? How do you feel he is a better character than the original?
Optimism is a duty.I think he was talking about Djinn rather than Doofus.
EDIT: Actually, I think I misread that, ignore.

I don't mind criticism, I mind when someone only ever has negative things to say and sometimes will go on for pages without showing any sign that they watch the show because they actually like it.
Fresh-eyed movie blogDjinn Yes.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Excessive negativity is a big no-no, and single-issue wonking is a suspendable offense. Tropers have been rightly suspended for constant negativity (especially egregious in cases where others told them to knock it off), because surprise surprise, constant negativity does not make for constructive conversation. I point to this thread as a good example of the mods' stance on wonking.
I should also point out that creator-bashing is a no-no. There was another thread where a troper got suspended for constant creator-bashing, and yes, they were saying things in the same category as "That post from Angones is when I really started thinking that his head is swelled and needs to be examined."
And before anyone tries to pull a "We're not obligated to like the show" card, yes, you're not obligated to like the show or change your opinion based on what others on the thread say. What you're not allowed to do is constantly wonk about it, because that counts as excessive negativity and doesn't make for good faith conversations.

Doofus is just a different kind of bad than the original, but I like the role his parents have so I'm more lenient on him in the current one.
Now that he's grounded he can finally go up, or become a crazed supervillain. Whichever happens.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession. So who are we talking about here, exactly?
Optimism is a duty.I'm not too familiar with Doofus from the original series, since I never saw any of the episodes with him in it. Out of curiosity, how was he "a different kind of bad?"
He was more the fat, goofy, dork his name implies.
So, he was an annoying screw-up...?
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.He was bad in the sense that he was often a rather unnecessary addition to the plot, and being somewhat of a Replacement Scrappy for the nephews at times, where the writers would replace the nephews with him during an adventure for not very clear reasons, sometimes even superseding the nephews as Scrooge's "most trusted assistant".
Another problem with Doofus was that no one in the cast really seemed to like him, apart for Launchpad, making his appearances around the mansion even more baffling. Doofus never really made sense as the triplet's companion, since they disdained him for his clumsiness and generally being a dork, but he DID work quite well as Launchpad's sidekick, though his sycophantic behaviour towards LP was a bit much at times.
But yeah, that's a very different kind of bad from being outright evil. Doofus was annoying, even to the characters, but he was very much a good guy, similar to Scrappy Doo.
Oh yeah, and let's not forget him marrying Webby in the future.

Optimism is a duty.Hey, that can still happen.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.It was kinda weird, since Webby and Doofus barely ever interacted on the original show, and the whole thing pretty much came out of nowhere. It probably was a case of the writers wanting a future husband for Webby, and Doofus being an easy, if not very likely, candidate.
Why do you think it can still happen on this show?
Optimism is a duty.
And this is where I realize this really is pointless nitpicks
