So there was no space race in the Ducktales universe? No moon landing? No satellites? It just feels a bit odd, seeing how many other bits of history go into the Duckiverse, up to and including Not Quite Russians.

And depending on the canon, rockets should already exist, if only because of that golden moon space race I mentioned earlier.

The moonmen have a civilization underneath the surface of the Moon undetected and hidden from the eye, and possibly from technology, and Della's been living in that city since. This is probably why Scrooge's team wasn't able to find Della after she was lost!

Except that it took 10 years for her to find that city, so that logic does not fly. She was ON the surface for ten years.

Yeah, that gum is just the biggest hand wave.

The search rockets probably didn't start with the moon. There's a ton of empty space between Earth and the moon, and Della's "mission" wasn't supposed to take her by the moon, so it makes sense that it would take them a while to get that far.

Wait a second. That pilot saw a dust storm on the moon and assumed it was nothing. But the moon has no atmosphere to speak of, so there's no wind to kick up any dust. What did she think was causing the dust storm?

But wouldn't the moon be the FIRST place you would think of to send a search team? It's the most iconic body in space that is nearest to Earth save for satellites, and discarded junk. This episode does have an insane amount of questionable scientific content. I could wave it like I always do with this show because it's a cartoon following a franchise with a long line of its own fantasies for comedy or plot convenience, but this is SPACE, where everything is bigger, so you thus make bigger mistakes.

You CAN kick up a dust cloud on the moon, it just won't be affected by any air friction or wind, just by gravity. I think that means that the dust should settle a lot faster, since it can't float on the air. It would be rather more like kicking up a cloud of sand on the beach, I think.

And the moon is VERY dusty. The stuff is called regolith, and consists of very sharp, very small particles that get EVERYWHERE, and are very good at destroying equipment.

[up]I agree that the moon would be the first place to look. It is literally the first possible place where you COULD land a space ship.

Yeah, a person can kick up dust on the moon. Which is why the pilot should have immediately assumed the dust was caused by something.

The moon is 384,400 km away. Earth has a diameter of 12,742 km. You could fit 30 Earths in the space between Earth and the Moon. And that's if you go in a straight line. That's an immense area to search. It would take time.

The pilot assumed it was a meteor. I don't feel that it was a reasonable assumption, or a valid reason not to investigate, but that's what she thought it was.

Im pretty sure there is no way the moonlanders didnt know about della. even if they didnt notice her crash she went looking over the moon for 4 years for gold.

Frankly Della deserves mad props for searching the entire moon in only 4 years. Although, she obviously missed a spot.

But clearly they didn't know, because the moon cops seem totally surprised by her presence. It just raises more questions. They just aren't there, until suddenly they ARE, when the plot needs them there.

A lot of this episode hinges on that same sort of plot convenience. The search party just barely misses her because of an indicental dust cloud. She just so happens to lose the exact right tooth, which just so happens to have a gold filling, which just so happens to be the fuel to the ship, which just so happens to be the main food source for the mites, and which just so happens to be the main building material of the mooninites, and is apparently overabundant, but somehow there is not a scrap of it to be found on the surface, even though it is just trash to the aliens. It is all very contrived and doesn't stand up to close scrutiny.

Another brain teaser: there is no air on the moon. The episode somewhat acknowledges it with the gum. So... what are the mooninites breathing, and how are they talking without air?

Another note: I can't say from experience, but when in space, you don't "assuuuuuume" ANYTHING. One wrong decision could be the difference between life and death, and in space I can imagine that is increased exponentially. That pilot should've at least done a thorough inspection of the dustcloud from photographs on her ship.

The Mooninites are clearly not human. They could be able to breathe anything, they could even be able to breathe more than one thing, for all we know. Honestly I was more puzzled by how they automatically spoke English, an invention from Earth, and that Della understood them.

yea gold is overabundant. in the city that is cloaked that clearly has all of it.

also the moonlanders are aliens we dont even know if they need to breathe.

But they need SOME form of gas to make sound, and the moon has none.

Also, why would htey have ALL the gold, if there is so much it is worthless to them? Why would they hoard Worthless Yellow Rocks?

How does that dome work, anyway? Is it a hologram? But then surely Della would have walked through it at some point, as it seems to be in walking distance from her crash site. And if it's solid, then how does it dematerialize like that? Are they Artbitrarily Advanced Aliens? Why are they hiding underground in the first place? Those mites don't seem like that much of a threat. And why is the city built in a bowl shape, instead of simply following the moon's surface underground?

The Moon actually has a thin atmosphere. [up][up] Cause they clearly make all of their stuff out of gold.

Also Oxychew is a nod to the Ducktales game. It's a fun thing not a contrivance.

Also MST3K Mantra. Seriously I think that is your biggest issue with this show Red Mess.

I mean, I could use the same general frame of mind that Red seems to be using with just about anyone or anything. Such as, say, Superman. 'Seriously, how is Superman flying in the air like that? Far as I can tell he doesn't have any wings, nor are his bones hollow enough to allow for it. And how come he isn't blinded whenever he uses his heat vision? Kyptonian or no, he's still setting his eyes on fire. And don't get me started on the glasses thing.'

I always get my face frozen when I need a filling. Which also makes me a bit drowsy and I can't feel or see my mouth so I would not be able to see what they are putting in there.

I didn't see Della swallow the gum. She gave it a few chews to get it the right consistency, and then wedged it in the back of her mouth out of the way. I've done that with gum a lot. You chew it a little, put it aside, and then chew it more when you feel like it, or I assume in her case, when it seems like it's wearing off.

I was wondering how long her supply was going to last and then she said a piece lasts for ages and the flavor only gets stronger over time, so over ten years later she might still be on the first piece.
