I think that the triplets' father in this continuity is a deadbeat dad. I could see Della's husband having walked out on her when the babies were almost born. The triplets' father could still be alive, but he's not in his sons' lives which is why they are in the care of their uncle.

[up][up]...You realize Magica's been using those as far back as the 80's show, right?

My favourite joke is Beakley questioning if Donald has been saying that badass things the whole time [lol]

[up]x2 Also I kind of assumed the whole Shadow Minions was a reference to that episode of Aladdin when the main characters had to fight their own shadows.

Magica's thing in comics though is just throwing smoke bombs at everyone [lol] Or whatever those actually are, they can stun people after all

Yeah those are smoke bombs from the Carl Barks comics. Though considering the level of magic powers depends on writers, her powers basically varied.

Honestly now that she is depowered, Magica in this show will be portrayed like she was in the Barks era of comics in season 2, which isn’t used often in other forma of media as everybody prefer full on witch Magica.

BTW working on my thoughts for this episode so I will post it soon if not tomorrow.

My absolute favorite Magica comic appearance is one that probably wouldn’t work as well outside of the comic format. It’s the one where she turns Scrooge and Donald sideways (as in, gravity pulls them to the side instead of down), and the whole thing makes a lot of fun out of having them interact with the world sideways and does silly things with the panels and background design.

As for the actual episode, it’s amusing that they evidently dealt with Don Cheadle’s unease with Donald’s catchphrases by... not having him deliver any of them. Though there’s the fun gag where Beasley starts using them instead.

So Lena is basically Annie from the The New Batman Adventures episode "Growing Pains". Both are girls that weakened villains created from parts of themselves only for these creations to Grow Beyond Their Programming and sacrifice themselves to save the kid heroes. At least Lena is still out there. Annie is just gone.

[up] He did say "Ah, Phooey" in reaction to Magica.

I noticed Beakley's "Oh phooey" as she destroyed the ship sounded just like Donald's temperment.

I do wish Donny had more lines like what Donald usually says though. From the interview I get the impression they had more of those lines that they wound up cutting.

"No more hiatuses". Unfortunately, that's not in your power. We'll see if the network really does fulfill that promise.

Scrooge, you damn HUG Webby and put 100% of your effort into it! You damn APOLOGIZE to what you said to a little girl who looked up to you like a distant fan for years!

Beakley also says “what’s the big idea” when the shadows first attack.

To be fair, Cheadle does say 'Why I oughta...!' towards the end. So that's something.

@Big K 1337 Magica generally relied on artifacts, potions and stuff in the old show too.

So Lena is just Magica's shadow? So where did the body come from? And did she age at all during those 15 years? I hope an arc next season sees her a physical form again.

seems her magic shadow gained sentience of it's own, like a robot thinking for itself

Also, since they're for supernatural powered foes they'll probably have the Chaos God for next big bad

[up]Chaos God? Is that a thing in the comics?

And I'm pretty sure they've already revealed the Big Bad of the old movie at Comic Con. If anyone's going to be a Big Bad, it's him.

Either she aged slowly, or was created as a 15-year-old and just never aged.

Oddly, Scrooge shouting at Webby is the thing I am most upset about out of all the wrong things he did. Scrooge, you will fashion out rooms for all the nephews, give Donald a proper room, and damn well give Webby her own room that ISN'T in a soddy basement!!! You owe her an APOLOGY!

@Envyus But wait, didn’t Magica have like the powers to turn into animals in that show? Just like her movie counterpart Merlock?

Also agree with everyone else regarding Scrooge and Webby.

They did implement The Moon theme from the NES game! Shame it just a short snippet, but I'll take it.
