Dead or Alive General

I would say it's not completely impossible to have some less tense things happen in the story. It is just a matter of having characters interact with characters they don't have a grudge against.

Examples would be Hitomi and Hayate or Kasumi with Marie.

Trunks is one of my favorite characters of all time & I still think there's a lot of good anime characters out there regardless what the community thinks of them.

The story of DOA still shouldn't be taken all that seriously. The side characters are still doing silly things

It also seems to have killed whatever chance the game had of getting into the American EVO this year. Which is kind of ironic since a lot of people suspected that toning down the fanservice on the default costumes was meant to try and make it more suitable for the competitive circuit.

I cannot think of a more badly mishandled PR stunt in recent memory.

I can: "FUNCTIONS".

And stop saying Shimbori mishandled stuff. You should have known the guy entered Trolling Creator territory with his move at EVO Japan.

They were making a major push for DOA 6 to be in the esports scene, and the incident at EVO Japan seems to have killed that momentum.

It was pretty juvenile of them to do that. There's plenty of times I do think it's fine for developer goofing around but that pretty dumb for them to do.

That being said, it's not like we're censoring MK now are we? Values Dissonance & all that good jazz

Yeah, EVO has double standards.

I mean it IS hard to be taken seriously if you have people competing in outfits more stripperiffic than string bikinis. I remember tournaments once tried listing which DOA costumes where allowed at a venue and it winded up being really random and scattershot. Given how MUCH DLC has been released for Last Round...

Funny enough there were people seriously complaining about Jade wearing too much clothing. Even though she's a zombie. I guess there are some people who seriously get off to zombie porn?

There was also the ESPN incident with one of Rainbow Mika's costumes, iirc.

I mentioned Jade being covered on the Mortal Kombat 11 thread. On the same post I also reminded myself she's still a Revenant.

I like Sonya's outfit. Given she wore a tactical vest in MK 9... And nothing else... It makes a lot more sense for her to be properly clothed.

Now if you're talking about the fact that her voice actor is more muscular than her... Now that's a valid complaint.

Hell, Mila probably wouldn't be a character if it weren't for people like Rhousey popularizing female MMA and yet she's still a twig too.

I will say it's a shame about EVO, since apparently the main reason for the new close-up/slow-mo mechanic was to try and make the game more fun to watch as a spectator. It's a neat idea.

I've got zero problems with Sonya either. Really most of these strike me as kind of silly and overblown.

I can only imagine.

Yes, it's about how they slimmed Sonya into hell. Her clothes? Her clothes in MKX and 11 are the opposite of a problem. Now, small breasts and definitely almost no muscles for a woman supposed to be a military general who has been dealing with Outworld for over 25 years? I can't understand how people here are okay with this.

It almost sounds like the devs went "Don't make Sonya's breasts so big, we need to be respectable. Ooh, but don't make her too muscly, she still has to look pretty. Guys don't like butch girls." Kind of makes me wish Sheeva was in it. To MK's credit, I guess D'Vorah actually looks more mosntrous than sexy?

A sexy design is okay as long as it fits the character's personality. I remember when Overwatch was still in beta and Blizzard changed Tracer's win pose. It went from generic to rather cute, but wasn't less sexy and most people liked it better.

When it comes to DOA, I think most of the time the girls dress the way I'd expect them to, it's more that so many of the alt costumes are very fetishy. Otherwise, their default battle uniforms and their casual clothes tend to fit, with a few exceptions like Kasumi and Ayane's ninja gear.

Its quite simply really, there's no difference.

I just looked at her X look & her current look. There's no noticeable slimming down as far I can tell & her clothes look normal, appearing tighter most likely because of the graphical improvements.

Hell she looks even older now. She's more stone-faced, I can see some wrinkles, and her hair is a darker color implying it may be graying.

I mean I'm pretty sure being thin & being muscular are not exclusive states.

I do feel sonya could stand to be a bit more muscular, like you gotta sell she can split dudes in half with her legs lol.

She is introduced in NG 3 getting a massage in france.

I don't know why I find that kind of cute. Ayane isn't any less feminine than the other girls other than her attitude. I kind of wonder if she likes feeling pampered because of her backstory, being an unwanted child and outcast envying Kasumi for being the princess of their ninja clan. Maybe I'm looking too much into it, but oh well.

Just got 6 on Steam and downloading...

I thought Tecmo Koei limited the game to Windows 10-only (as in "no Steam").

Fair warning: I've seen walkthroughs of the story mode and the way a next chapter can be unlocked will cause you to backtrack to the previous chapter. Let's just say the order on how the story ought to be shown is more messed up than 5 to say the least.
