However, many examples I encounter does read like a listing of people's personal OTPs, especially in Harem Genre.
For example the entry in Love Hina basically says that all but one of the possible couples in the harem is fan-preferred; Shokugeki No Soma has the protagonist paired with at least 4 different people, even though some of the characters he's paired with is also shipped with other characters; the three fan-preferred couples listed in Ouran High School Host Club clashes with the Official Couple — which, IIRC, is the no.1 ship.
