Does anyone know why Ryu-Ran's Toon form is Manga Ryu-Ran instead of 'Toon X' like all the other Toons?

Probably because the English translators had this weird thing where they would change some card names that were originally in English to Japanese words instead. So there's stuff like Cyclops > Hitotsu-Me Giant (One-Eye Giant), Thunderbolt > Raigeki (Thunder Strike), Force > Riryoku, Fireball > Hinotama, or Raremetal Soldier > Roboyarou (Robo Guy).
Ryu-Ran was originally Dragon Egger, and it was changed to the what the kanji for "dragon" and "egg" put together would be (竜卵 ryuuran). Then since they didn't give a shit about keeping names consistent back then so there wouldn't be any problems with card effects that list parts of names, earliest doing that being the Toon cards, they applied this same pattern to the "toon" part of Toon Dragon Egger, becoming Manga Ryu-Ran.
If I had to guess, they probably wanted the localized names to sound cool and foreign, kind of like english does in japanese, so that's why they changed them. Though it did end up obscuring certain things. For example, Seiyaryu
is supposed to be a counterpart to Serpent Night Dragon. Its original name is Holy Knight Dragon, and it's actually Serpent Knight (well the original name for it is actually Evil Knight, but you get the idea).
Summoned Skull and Beast of Talwar were also supposed to be Archfiends, but that wasn't obvious because the localizers weren't consistent about the initial translation probably because they didn't think it would ever matter.

But yeah, Serpent Night Dragon was supposed to be Evil Knight Dragon, since its flavor text says it was formed from the heart of an evil knight. Not even the only time the translators made that mistake. There's a random early vanilla monster called Knight Lizard that the TCG calls Night Lizard.

Been using my shiny new Shonen Jump subscription to flip through the manga again. I forgot how much of a right bastard Pegasus is in it. Apart from a few shots of Cecilia's portrait, there's actually nothing to indicate he has any noteworthy redeeming traits until after Yugi beats him, and he's just as sadistic and willing to play games with people's lives as Death-T!Kaiba.
Still love him though.

I still don't like that he died in the manga, if only because Regular Marik (who was worse IMO) got to live and had the blame for all his crimes shifted to Melvin.

R is dubiously canon since it was made by Akira Itō instead of Takahashi. It's kinda a side-story/spinoff like the Capsule Monsters anime was.

Yu Gi Oh Abridged is the ONE series I think is as great as the original. Fuck DBZ Abridged. :)

rush duels are set up to be the japanese counterpart to speed duels since those doesn't seem to have caught on much in japan. The main sets are gonna carry on as usual. they'll probably port some of the sevens cards to the real game, whether or not they'll make an impact in the regular game will depend of how well they port it.
