I'm pretty certain Kureha and Ginko lived. They disappeared at the last moment. Which seems to imply physically going beyond the wall of severance. So it seems ambiguous, but most signs are pointing to them having survived and I'm gonna go with that.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.Interesting comparison of the endings of Utena, Penguindrum and Lesbears
Spoilers for all three, obviously.
Conclusion: Ikuhara's been getting sadder in his old age.
SHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOCK
Just finished ep. 3, and I've concluded that if there's anything this show isn't, it's subtle.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Man, I'm slow. I just realized both trios in the show wear Red, Blue, and Green.
And the soundtrack has been spotted out in the wild!
i. hear. a. sound.Oh hey this thread is back.
Gotta say, the judges are seriously starting to get on my nerves. The flashbacks too, but to a lesser extent.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Just saw episode 11.
So... uh... what exactly happens during the "exclusion" process? Is it some kind of mosh pit?
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Well, I believe it's bullying someone until the victim disappears or die, that's why Kureha mom decided to save Ginko from this kind of exclusion.
Anyway once you are the target, unless you have a yuri bear on your side, you are not safe in school...
Haaaa, so. How 'bout that last episode, huh? Just as I thought this show was starting to get repetitive, TWEEEEEEEEEEEEEST.
Honestly, though, it sucks that Ginko and Kureha got ki- er, "excluded" anyway. It just seems like the villains won at the end of the day. Not satisfying in the least.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."
I suspect Kumaria appears differently to everybody. She's everyone's Sumika, basically.
I am a bit disappointed by ambiguity of whether or not Ginko and Kureha survived. Normally I wouldn't be, but this is a specifically about attitudes about lesbians as well as oppressed people in general, so yeah.
It's definitely Ikuhara's least good anime project, but that's all right, because it's still very good. The one cour limit definitely held it back; if it had more episodes to really flesh out its characters it could have been extremely strong.
The rejection of exclusion by the girl at the end remains my favourite bit.
