I'm willing to bet that a bunch of them are a group of villains, specifically the Onslaught. So, yes, a bunch of them are going to die.

I dread typing this, but what if Cena is the first to go? Wouldn't be the first time a wrestler turned actor got the kibosh shortly after being established.

James Gunn says his film will draw on every era of the Suicide Squad. On Instagram yesterday, Gunn showed that he was gifted with an issue of The Brave and the Bold where the original Suicide Squad first appeared. When someone asked about King Shark appearing in his film, he wrote:

King Shark is a relatively recent member of the team. The original Squad was a group of adventurers, soldiers and scientists, who explored and battled anomalous events. Ostrander in the 80’s [sic] introduced the idea of the Dirty Dozen with disposable, second rate supervillains. King Shark didn’t enter the team till the 2000’s [sic]. Our movie takes elements from all those timelines but is especially indebted to Ostrander (and Kim Yale).
I really like his response, because it indicates that:
  1. He really knows the history of the team.
  2. He isn't ignoring any era.
  3. He definitely isn't ignoring Ostrander and Yale's version.

For those who don't know, John Ostrander was the writer who revamped the Suicide Squad in the '80s to be, essentially, what it is today: a group of supervillains forced to work as a black ops team for the government since they are expendable. He didn't create all the characters associated with the team — he did create Amanda Waller — but he revamped a lot of characters and made them into their more iconic roles (Deadshot used to look like this).

And Kim Yale was Ostrander's wife who frequently collaborated with him on projects. She co-wrote a ton of Suicide Squad, including the famous "Janus Directive," and she even got him to bring in Barbara Gordon to the Squad and make her Oracle, since she hated the fact that Alan Moore had crippled her and nobody had done anything with her since. She died from cancer in 1997 and her last story was an issue of Batman Chronicles that was an origin for Oracle.

Honestly, I kinda dig it. But then, I tend to have a soft for vapid garish kitsch.

I'm not sure if that is actual concept art, it looks like photoshop of something from Grand Theft Auto. Further down the thread shows actual concept art closer to what the movie actually had.

First look at bald Peter Capaldi.

...Can anyone else see him being Hugo Strange or is it just me? Because it's pretty clear as day for me.

So anyone knows how we're supposed to pronounce Mayling Ng's family name?

Just the dipthong as is, or "Mm" or "Wu" in some dialects.

I now definitely think Capaldi is the Thinker.

If they feature Killer Frost in this movie (which I have heard rumors about), I'm hoping and praying she isn't killed off, or at least not right away.

We don't know who Alice Braga, Mayling Ng, and Jennifer Holland are playing. I can see Holland playing Killer Frost.

It really would be awesome if there was a movie Killer Frost and a show Killer Frost. Especially if the movie version was Louise Lincoln.

We got on-set photos of the cast in costume!

Can you tell who's playing whom?

Oh, wow. Javelin?? That's a deep cut! I believe that's Mayling Ng as Mongal. Presumably that's the female alien bruiser that was mentioned in previous casting breakdowns.

Yep, that's Javelin and what looks like Mongal. Nathan Fillion might be playing Blackguard (his name is Dick Hertz, you guys), while it looks like Sean Gunn is playing a CGI character again (perhaps King Shark). And Captain Boomerang has, you know, actual boomerangs.

[up] Sure enough, Javelin and Blackguard were members of the Suicide Squad at one point. And morbidly funny enough, they also died while being members. Whoops.

Mongul was also a member, although this looks more like the female-version of him.

If Slipknot is any indication, that doesn't bode too well for their chances.

You see, that's what they should have done for the first one: introduced a ton of characters played by either famous or semi-famous actors and then just start killing them off one by one so the audience never knows which characters are safe. Oh, you like John Cena? Yeah, he's the first one to die.

Instead, we got, uh, Slipknot. The guy who didn't even get an introduction, so everyone knew he was going to die.

Also, according to this guy, Peter Davidson is playing Savant, a bad guy from Gail Simone's Birds of Prey run, whom I don't think has ever been a part of the Suicide Squad. He also says that Sean Gunn is playing the Weasel, even though all we can see is a mo-cap suit.

Ah, looking at his Twitter bio, it looks like he's a writer for "The GWW," a clickbait site that just writes anything it wants without sources.
