I think the latest episode just became this series' first legitimate Wham Episode.
Ow my feels. Chuck is a dick ;_;
Tuco appearing out of nowhere not counting? Though that wasn't really the whole episode so much as just the ending of one.
My name is Addy. Please call me that instead of my username. That hasn't really amounted to that much in the grand scheme of things. Plus, I don't know if the very first episode can logically be a Wham Episode. There has to be an established status quo to upset.
It just occurred to me that Nacho is the kid that almost drowned in one of the flashbacks, just so that Hector could prove a point.
Tuco ends up hot-headed and reckless, Nacho is a cool glass of water, able to wait, able to recognize danger.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!No, that was the twins Marco and Leonel.
The only (possible) mention of Nacho in the original series was when Jessie and Walt kidnapped Saul, brought him out into the desert in front an open grave, and Saul, (assuming they were from the Cartel) started screaming "No, it was Ignacio! He's the one you want!"
| Wandering, but not lost. | If people bring so much courage to this world...◊ |Yeah, that was how the twins were taught loyalty to each other and the family (presumably it was one of many such incidents).
It's unclear what happens to Nacho other than that he's not around at the time of Breaking Bad. It could be that the character's name is meant to be that mysterious Ignacio or if it's just a one-off reference.
My name is Addy. Please call me that instead of my username. If he is that same Ignacio, we could take Saul's line as confirmation that he won't die during this series.
Actually, Saul's line seems to hint that Nacho will have a falling out with Tuco and the cartel, to the extent that Saul expects the cartel to be searching for him. Nacho is already trying to run his own operation behind Tuco's back (somewhat clumsily so, as both Saul and Mike can tell), so it does seem likely that things won't end too well for him.
Oh my God, Chuck is a fucking asshole!
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult. It became readily obvious that he was after the flashback to when Jimmy passed the bar.
I feel for Jimmy, I really do.
Is not impressed. Now I'm curious if all of Howard's interactions with Jimmy have a Rewatch Bonus vibe to them. Like, if I went back and watched all his scenes would it show that he was really a nice guy all along.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Aw, I liked my symbolism. My bad. That flashback was shown when the Twins were still active, wasn't it.
I missed what Jimmy said right at the end as he was driving away. The rest seemed suspiciously lackluster.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Also, I just noticed: all of this season's episode titles have an "o".
Oh. What's that mean, you ask? I have no idea. Uno, Mijo, Nacho, Hero, Shepherd Boy, Five-O, Bingo, Rico, Pimento, Marco.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I just realized that Jimmy's howl, used as a signal for Marco to get ready, is styled after the opening of Deep Purple's Hush. Dunno of Lugo's voice actor proposed it.
Alright, and we're back.
All of time and space, anywhere and everywhere, any star that ever was. Where do you want to start?Gotta say, while I enjoyed this episode thoroughly I couldn't help but feel like it backpedaled somewhat, what with Jimmy going back to take the job at Davis and Main. Still, all the callbacks to Breaking Bad were fun and entertaining.
Is not impressed.I was surprised by Jimmy going back to the legit law firm, but it makes sense that Kim would, however indirectly, wind up nudging him towards it.
So, what's going to happen to alienate her or overcome her being the good angel on his shoulder?
| Wandering, but not lost. | If people bring so much courage to this world...◊ |Oh god, the squat cobbler.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!This show continues to be comedic gold.
All of time and space, anywhere and everywhere, any star that ever was. Where do you want to start? The thing I don't get is what's so great about Tuco going to jail for only five years, it's a temporary solution.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult. It gets him out of the picture well enough for Nacho to not have to worry about him finding out about his side business. Plus, Tuco was becoming a liability with his increased drug use, it was either jail or a bullet to the head. Given what happens in Breaking Bad, Mike probably learned his "no half measures" rule from the repercussions of this decision.
Apart from that, we'll continuity.
Is not impressed.EDIT: I should have read more carefully before posting.

Formerly KarmaMeter.Eh? It was pretty clear in Breaking Bad that Mike's "no half measures" thing came from the guy he let go who beat his wife to death. Though there could well be other factors, this among them. We know Nacho isn't around by the Breaking Bad era, though what happens to him is anyone's guess.
Nice little Continuity Nod there, with Krazy 8 not actually being named, so you wouldn't get it unless you knew Breaking Bad. But then again, almost everyone watching the show probably does know Breaking Bad.
That happened while he was on the force, and now we know he didn't really learn that lesson until later. It's a much less convoluted example to explain to Walt.
Formerly KarmaMeter.
He won't necessarily die. It's possible that Jimmy will ultimately have Chuck convicted to a mental asylum, like that doctor suggested, and use the resignation fee to start his career as Saul.
By the way, has it ever been explained who the other Hamlin in "Hamlin, Hamlin and McGill" is? Howard's sibling, or maybe his parent?
