Overwatch

So, any numbers on active players or anything in O2, anyway?

Blizzard doesn't release numbers but queue times for me have been fairly short.

The only indication we can find is twitch wievership which is fairly low but not indicative of the whole community (I find watching overwatch streamers to be super dull)

Major story is still happening, but once per season with missions like archives.

I like the idea of watching Overwatch streams and I like Vtubers but way too many Vtubers default to freaking MERCY like what the hell's more boring than playing as Mercy? Watching someone else play Mercy! Ugh!

(No offense to actual Mercy mains who occasionally, you know, have offense.)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that Blizzard revealing Pharah is gay was a distraction from a scandal.

Eh, I head cannoned her and Angel as being girlfriends years ago, pick up the pace Blizzard.

Pharmercy is a ship that will never sink!

And rankly TBD on "is still happening", as we've seen already, Blizzard is in no way bound by their own words and promises.

For all we know this could be a one time thing before they decide they don't feel like it anymore.

I have no hope in these "Missions" considering the state of starwatch we got. It'll be 2 hours max of playtime with rewards that aren't satisfying or worth my time.

2 hours is generous if the PvE missions of overwatch 1 are any indication. The sum duration of the archive missions didn't break 40 min total.

Sorry I was late to talk about the pve thing but I thought this game are known as multiplayer pvp but I wasn't aware of the pve until recently. Was the pve the main thing in this game? I mean can someone who know this game well explain this to me? Btw, I have been playing Overwatch 2 for like two months now.

When Overwatch 2 was announced in 2019 (Before it was ready, to distract from Blizzard Scandal #203994563) the main reason given was "Fans have been asking for a single player mode to explore and interact with the lore and plot we've been hinting to with the shorts and stuff". And yes, they had been. Overwatch's biggest criticism, besides lootboxes, was that the game implies this big important plot is supposed to be just on the verge of kicking off for all these characters with complex backstories and this is a multiplayer game with no story content.

We were told the entire reason OW 2 had to exist was to make this mode, which would be a campaign with skill trees for all characters. Overwatch 1 was just unsuitable for this kind of gameplay.

OW 2 launched, taking OW 1's servers down, and looks like a worst version of OW 1 visually. It also launched without the aforementined mode which again we were told was the entire reason OW 2 had to exist. Not a blip. Blizzard just saying "Oh yeah it's coming"

Earlier this month Blizzard fessed up that it's not. Coz it's too hard to make or something. They also admitted in an interview that they've known since OW 2's launch that this mode wasn't coming, which means all those times they justified the game's existence using this, they knowingly lied. As when they promised it's coming.

Blizzard is now promising "a lot of" PVE missions (which is a thing OW 1 had already) every other seasons when they feel like it but if you're gonna believe them at this point you have to be the most gullible person alive.

According to the internal industry rumor mill, they didn't actually know that long ago and they made it up for the interview because they cant even do PR damage control right. (... Even when they have time to make something up they just default to "Oh hey look X is LGBT" :/ )

The actual reasons are just as stupid mind, its that corporate demanded them resume office work, and ended work from home.... causing a mass walkout, including so much of the PVE team that they were unable to continue because of the lack of staff.

...

And that corporate just didn't care about it any way, Diablo Immortal made so much money that Overwatch 2 has already been written off as a failure internally for failing to make as much money as it did.

Which normaly I would be sus about "Overwatch 2 has been wrote off as a failure" but.... given that there comparing it to Diablo Imortal.... the thing the comunity hates...

Blizzard in general is bleeding employees because of their stupid back to the office employee (also the chronic underpayment, and the whole being a nightmare hellscape of a company run by actual literal ghouls). I know a person who found a better job somewhere else.

Should also be stated that their stated reason is making so many characters with skill trees is too complex and too much work to be feasible which like... fine but then don't make a campaign for every characters? Start with 4. We know you can manage a campaign for 5 characters with skill trees. you're releasing one right now.

Reminded of how LoadingReadyRun when announcing that very story had Graham going "I can't wait to hear a Blizzard PR person try to walk back that statement to mean something else than was said"

Wait I'm confused, so basically the creators of this game promise that they will make pve for Overwatch 2 but they scrapped it off at the last minute and they lied the whole time?

They promised PVE for three years, then PVE after release, and a couple months after release the PVE got cancled.

Either because the PVE team quit due to mistreatment, or because corprate lied about it.

Possibly even both.

Wow that's totally uncalled for if both theories are true. Do you think I should delete this game from my Nintendo Switch even it's free? I love this game but now I'm not sure if I still can play it due to the controversy.

It's up to you really. make your own decisions don't ask randos on the internet.

If you keep playing or not individually ultimately won't matter either way. Blizzard won't notice a player more or less. Do what makes you feel better.

Yeah, this is something that you have to figure out yourself.

At this point if Blizzard ever announces a character as being LGBTQ+ you can pretty much be certain it's to try and drum up good PR over something either recently did, or they're trying to hide something. Mark my words if they ever announce a trans hero they're likely trying to divert from the fact that they just broke all four Geneva conventions.

I mean, not gonna lie, I'm angry about the PVE cuts like nobody's business but this is also the first time I've seen a game do a pride event. I was practically begging like any gacha game ever to do some sort of pride event banner for years and never saw one. So I actually am tempted to play again...

Reminder this is the same company that continues to employ degenerates who stole women's breast milk from their pumping fridge so many times said women needed to put a padlock on the fridge. This is the same company that is being sued for allowing such a sexist corporate culture it drove female employees to suicide. This is the same company that uses a "diversity ranking score" system to determine whether a character has enough "minority points". They do not care about minority groups, it's all performative.

Yeah and Ubisoft is a den of sexual predators, and Riot has an amazingly misogynistic culture, and Nintendo fired a woman for speaking out against harassment.
