Fictional Science can explain those away. What's D.Va's excuse?
Also, you dare question our lord and saviour Hamston?
Uni catThe aid of fictional science lets D.Va do it

Fictional science would undercut D.Va's character. She was recruited to be a mech pilot because as a gamer she has good reflexes, but she's not supposed to be superhuman. If they could just science super reflexes into people, why bother recruiting gamers?

I am guessing there is only so much the Defense Matrix program can handle and needs D.Va's mad skills to be viable, but not so much that she is individually targetting and shooting down every bullet unassisted.

The voice line suggests that, yes, she is manually targeting and shooting down the incoming attacks.
Otherwise, "Time to raise my APM" doesn't make sense as a quip.
She's probably just leaning on the fourth wall, as she does fairly often.
I thought Defense Matrix vaporizes any incoming fire, with the exception of certain projectiles and attacks.
It does so by shooting the projectiles down. Probably with some sort of aim assistance (since that grid comes up while she's using it).
I think we can accept it as Gameplay and Story Segregation. After all, there's no reason for the cooldown/charge/time limit on it other than game balance (if she was doing it manually, she could do it until she's exhausted; if it's computer controlled, then...well, computers don't run processes on cooldowns).
TV Tropes's No. 1 bread themed lesbian. she/her, fae/faerSo, the event has been out for maybe a week.
And I'm already kind of over it.
In general, that's how the PvE events go. This one specifically, they put in the bare minimum.
It's a new map. Same old enemies. Same mechanics (three area battles and a payload). 3 out of 4 of the heroes are from the past PvE events.
They were banking really heavily that the "weather effects" would be a compelling addition, but it did little. It's such a subdued effect I barely noticed it's raining. It doesn't impact visibility or mobility, you don't have to adjust your aim for the wind, the surf noise doesn't drown out combat, etc.
Oh for F's sake, it's one of those music video ep again.
I personally really hate those.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.So... I'm guessing most of us are disappointed by the latest event?
I played it once and just didn't bother after that. No new enemies and the weather effects don't even do anything other than just look cool.
I've quite enjoyed it, myself, though I'd agree it's doesn't have the pop the previous events did. That said, I wouldn't say I'm disappointed - it's just kind of standard, not poor.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. It has more work put in the cutscenes than in the actual mission.
The only thing i like so far is the Hamston highlight intro.
Uni catNew update on the PTR. I find it pretty exciting:
'The Workshop'.
Essentially, it's a scripting mode intended to allow you to make more complex custom game modes. 'You could even prototype your own Overwatch hero using this system.' Targeted at players with some programming experience, though they're trying to make it accessible. It will, for the record, work on consoles.
One example of a custom mode they made is 'Molten Floor': anyone who is on the ground catches on fire. Another is a version of deathmatch where every player plays the same hero for one minute, then it switches to someone else.
Apparently they added a custom debugger to it. Note that it isn't a map editor or the like; it focuses on letting you play with game logic. I hope it works well in practice.
Blizzard games always did have the best content creation tools, and I'm glad that Overwatch will be joining Warcraft and Starcraft in that regard, even if it's not quite a map editor.
Finally managed to beat Storm Rising on Legendary.
While the hero line-up is made of paper, avoiding the heavies is much easier in this one that in retribution.
At least you have a tank here
Uni catI'd be more worried about DPSing them down. You don't have Reaper or McCree's ult in Storm Rising.

I've noticed that Hammond has been getting a lot of love for a relatively new character in the cosmetic department.
Uni catI think it's partially because of the character design, which can be condensed down to a 'ball'. I was surprised he didn't get a bright red Christmas tree ornament skin during Winter Wonderland.
After 2 years, i've finally beaten Uprising on Legendary!
Blessed be those Torb buffs
Uni catMuch respect; I don't even trust myself to be able to beat Uprising on Hard mode. (Or any of the missions on Expert or Legendary mode. But then, to quote Orisa, I'm still new at this.)
I have been having uncommonly good luck with the Legendary drops in loot boxes, though; I've managed to get Soldier:76's Formal skin, McCree's Deadlock skin, Bastion's Gwishin skin, and Ashe's Socialite skin. No Scientist skin for Moira, though, and although I have a decent amount of in-game currency saved up, I have it earmarked for other, less expensive items I don't yet have (top of the list: Mei's Pajamei skin) just in case I don't get them out of loot boxes by Monday afternoon EDT.
More absurd than the gorilla and hamster in the game?
