Kinda surprised this hasn't been mentioned before. You'd think one of their students being killed would be something of a black mark for UA. Unless it's just one of those things that's expected at a hero school.

[up]This now makes me want to look for any parallels between Aizawa and Mustang.

[up][up]Likely the latter. Just as heroism may be a job in their universe but still a lethal one, its expected that there would be a mortality rate of some kind. They'd naturally do whatever they can to avert it, but its entirely possible there will be cases where students die during internships and work studies.

Granted, that raises the question as to why the media outrage was so bad over the attack on the Training Camp where there was no casualties, just a lot of injuries, when this school already has had students die on them. Aizawa is canonically 31 in the main series, meaning this had to have happened no more than 15 years before the main series, since first years are roughly 15 years old and Aizawa was a second year here, making him around 16. The argument that the student wasn't under U.A.'s protection here doesn't work either, since while His Purple Highness was in charge of Shirakumo, the only U.A. reps at the Camp were Aizawa and Vlad King. The Training Camp mainly left the kids in the paws of the Pussycats. So what made the Camp more special than Shirakumo's death? Just cause it was the LOV? Cause if so, wouldn't Shirakumo's be worse since it wasn't even an internationally wanted terrorist group that killed him, just a run of the mill giant villain? Wouldn't that make U.A. look worse by painting them as incompetent at their jobs and not teaching the students properly?

Also, unfortunate thing I noticed. Shirakumo's first name is Oboro. He's the deceased friend of a grumpy jaded teacher to the main characters that was heavily changed by their death, who was crushed by a rock, and whose death was shown outside the main series. Who does that sound like to you? And remember, Horikoshi has gone on record as to say he was heavily inspired by Naruto. So it's entirely possible Shirakumo is an expy of Obito.

I think the difference between this situation and the training camp is that nobody can really control what happens in the field. The training camp thing was supposesly conteolled entorely by two teachers, and villains showing up there obviously points to a breach of security somewhere.

That's mainly what everyone's unease was about.

It does, however, raise serious questions about the entrance exam. I mean, we saw no indication that the proctors would intervene if a candidate's life was in danger. On the contrary, they made the candidates rescuing each other part of the test. Collateral damage from other candidates aside, that 0-pointer is legitimately dangerous.

Regarding this family dinner, Rei obviously can't come, but I am curious if Natsuo will be there. Oh, and the other person who may or may not live in that house with them.

I think Natsuo made his feelings about family get-togethers clear the last time.

I think that was one of the theories going on back when he was fighting Dabi alongside Geten=Natsuo.

Anyways, your average theorist is not gonna let something like that stop them. Maybe it's a lie to keep the twist hidden. Maybe Geten is a male alter ego she uses to protect her identity. Maybe she's genderfluid. You know how this goes.

I think it's too early to say much about aizawa and shirakimo. It seems to me there is still a good chunk missing. But yea, shirakumo was in the field where things are expected to happen while the training camp was for first years, and already came after campus breaches. It was less of a single incident

Geten being trans is a thought...

Yeah, but two out of your three trans characters being villains is a more unpleasant thought

3/4 if you include Magne's friend who admires how she lives her life or w/e it was.

ED: And honestly considering how indoctrinated Geten is to the MLA manifesto, I doubt he's had a single original thought in his life.

Considering how society handles it her friend clearly means being able to live like that openly without fear of the consequences. Magne has that level of confidence to live proudly, even if she expresses it in an unhealthy way.

Ao No Flag is the story of a gay kid in SJ from the perspective of his straight friend who doesn't know, and he did everything possible to keep that from everyone. To live as society "expects" him to.

Also the fact he has a crush on said friend.

We have no idea if Magne's friend knew she was a villain. Still, trans acceptance seems to be much further in the MHA world, and i've found the absence of cheap jokes to be surprisingly enlightened. I'd also add that villains is anyone who opposes the law. Gay rights, civil rights fighters would ALL have been labelled villains in the MHA world.

I thought a villain was someone who used their Quirk to do illegal things. Or even just someone who used their Quirk illegally.

There are people who people who think that Dabi is just a red herring and Geten is actually Toya. That's in spite of the fact that we were specifically told his Quirk was fire-based. Logic and facts means nothing to a surprisingly large number of people when it comes to their theories. They just go "that sounds cool/is more unexpected" and don't really bother with the whole "does it make sense internally for the story" part.

I wouldn't rule out quirk shenanigans with Touya. If he fell to AFO then we already knew he did quirk roulette for instance. I also find Dabi's stitched-on skin very suspicious.

That being said, so far we have no reason to believe Geten is anyone other than just Geten. I really don't understand the drive to make him more relevant or a todoroki. For all the shit Naruto got with the Uchiha, the MHA fandom wants to do the exact same thing to the Todorokis.

Yes because that clearly means that everyone in the family is going to forgive him and he'll reconcile with them and the Todorokis are going to become a functioning family unit with Endeavor at the head.

I have my doubts about the "Dabi = Touya" theory, if only because of that one time where Dabi confronts Hawks and Endeavor after the latter defeated Hood. Endeavor didn't seem to have a particularly strong reaction or hints of recognition towards Dabi, which one would expect if Dabi really was Touya.

Granted, Endeavor was about ready to pass out at any given moment, and it is possible that Dabi is so physically messed up that, assuming he is Touya, he looks and sounds nothing like he used to. But for now, I'll still treat the theory with skepticism unless stronger hints are introduced.

For some reason, I'm now imagining Bakugo falling in love with Fuyumi during the dinner. That would be such an uncanny development it would be hilarious.

I see you and it's like looking into the mirror of my soul

But seriously, I had pretty much the exact same thought.

Right? King Explosion Murder blushing and showing a dere side for a second. Now that would be a sight. Fuyumi seems like someone who'd have that kind of sweetness to her.

[up] Dabi showing up specifically before Enji and calling him by his full name seemed like a big flag though.

The real big brain move is having Fuyumi fall in love with Hawks so the latter can troll Endeavor over it by calling him Dad.

The one I've seen is people being salty about him 'suddenly' being a good teacher.
