Flashback: After dinner

The dagger parried Remus's blow, and the rapier lashed out, again and again!

"You say that so easily! However..."

Once more, the rapier struck, this time aimed for his face. "How do I know that you mean it? What makes you so cerain that yolu won't abandon her for the next pretty face to come along?"

Grimm Studies

Alexia shook her head. "Oh, it wasn't anything serious. Just a match between friendly rivals..."

The Feurekiefer's tail and fins were sucessfully pinned. Trah it might, but the monster was trapped by the combined pressure of the Hunters.

Now, how to kill it?!

Grimm Studies

A question rose back to the forefront of Pius' mind as he watched the battles. Turning his attention away from the potent carnage of his classmates, the Nobel raised his hand to get Port's attention.

"Excuse me, professor, but I have a question: Why put together pairs from different teams to fight the same Grimm? Wouldn't this be a better assessment if both pairs that make up a whole team fought a single Grimm?"

Fire SCAR

Rufus raised his foot and stamped down on the beast wide tail, leaning all of his considerable and enhanced weight onto it. He raised his blade, pointed down, and focused his semblance into it, wreathing in faux blade of crimson aura. He stabbed down, the density enhanced blade meant to nail through the beast tail.

If so succesfull, he'd deactivate Sanguis so it regained properties of friction and disconnect it from the vorpal sword. Denied half his weaponry, he would be undaunted. Sanguis Aspernor was a recent addition to his arsenal.

Ayers wasn't taking any chances letting the thing go. He just kept the pressure up and squeezed down on the tail. If he could get a break, great, he could work on it like with the Mizukage; he doubted it would, though.

Flashback: Post Dinner Duel

Remus split Artemis Kai into twin swords mode after taking a hit from the rapier. Her speed was incredible, and he was having a hard time keeping up. The added agility of the dual swords allowed him to start blocking more blows but there was no opening for a counter. "Drop Chels for the next pretty face? I think I get where Seth get's his overprotectiveness from..." Remus said as he shifted his left blade into gun form as he continued to block most of the blows. Some still got through but were taken by his aura. "He asked me the same thing and I told him that wolves are loyal. There's no way I'd drop Chelsea. If I did you can line up behind your son to beat me to death!"

Remus thrust forward with his gun and shot through an opening he had seen, the gun going off at point blank range as Remus shot backwards from the recoil, spun around and charged forward with a flurry of strikes in retaliation to the earlier blows.

Grimm Studies

Finally, a blade managed to pierce the thing's hide. Rufus had pinned the monster, pinned it right to the floor. The Feurekiefer roared with pain and rage.

Port turned to Pius, a large grin on his face. "Is it not obvious? Out on the field you may meet many different Hunters. A true Hunter must be able to work with anyone else!"

After Dinner

Charlotte flared her Semblance, her figure blurring and the fired bullets simply phasing through her.

Smirking, she easily parried and deflected her opponent's strikes.

"Hmmph. Words are easy. Conviction is another matter. Show me your determination."

After Dinner Duel

Remus backstepped away from his opponent after his blows were parried. Hmm... Her semblance? I wonder what the specifics are... Remus popped the clip out of his left blade and kicked it upwards with his foot, catching it with his teeth. He then proceed to dash forward with both blades in hand before feigning, ducking to the side, twirling around to come at Charlotte from her back and flicking the bullets at her with his semblance activating to give them a little extra kick and precision. Perhaps the bullets fired this way will catch her off guard...

"Aim for the fucking eyes," Jack shouted at the fire team, before Port made his statement. Jack turned, "So, is there some sort of bond in there?" He asked, "Like being able to connect with people?"

Frost

"Tch!" Belle was dissappointed that she missed the Ice armor forming. Nothing to do about it thought but take care of it. She quckily brought her sword back up and swung in a wide arc at the Icy growths.

Grimm Studies

"With Fisty I don't think there's much of a difference between a friendly match and a fight to the death. Anyway you have a habit of getting yourself into danger because of your stuborness."

He looked at Port with confusion at his answer.

"Wait, I thought that was the purpose of teaming us up randomly with strangers for our whole 4 years in the academy, besides building a team with good coordination."

Grimm Studies

"But what about understanding your own team first?" Pius protested. "Shouldn't we be using that as a foundation for teamwork before we go off collaborating with other pairs? This all seems rather early for first-years."

Then again, as far as first-years go, the people in our dorm and my team are rather advanced...

Fire SCAR

Jack's suggestion penetrated his skull and lined up more or less with the plan he already had. Rufus nodded to Ayers, gestured to himself and then forward. Teamwork, right? Communication. Good.

Okay, back to berserk rage.

Rufus Peter Parkoured his way to the front of the monster, spearing a far wall, pulling himself forward, unhinging and spinning to face the creature. The Juggernaut Stance reactivated and his spin ended into a slam the cracked the ground.

The vorpal sword shortened to the length of a dagger before he launched his heavy weight right on its face and he started stabbing it right in the fucking eyes.

Notably, he is screaming incoherently most of the time.

Shockworm

Uh oh. Naima saw the zap coming before it reached her, but wasn't fast enough to avoid it by dropping her weapon.

"Ahhh!" Her form twitched as the volts coursed through her. That really hurt! Falling to one knee she started to breathe heavily, sweat forming on her brow. Well, this Grimm certainly lived up to its name!

Yun was over by her side in an instant, causing her to smile up at him as she climbed back to her feet. "I'm ok." As for ideas as to how to get the Shockworm up into the air, she narrowed her eyes, brain going into overdrive.

"What if we can flip it over and expose it's underside?"

Fire

Cara hadn't needed to do a whole lot yet, but she knew she could have been doing a lot more to help out. Throughout the battle so far, she'd made a few mental notes of what she'd do differently in future situations like this.

Still, as usual, Cara was smiling. She stood a short distance away from the Feurekiefer with Elegance ready, its harpoon side pointed toward the beast. The others seemed to have everything under control. If things suddenly worsened, which she thought very unlikely at this point, she would be ready to back them up without any delay.

After-Dinner Duel

Charlotte frowned as Remus did what he did. Then, she smirked.

Flaring her Semblance again, the Huntress blurred, leaving only a faint outline....only to reappear, quite solid, behind Remus. She promptly kicked him right in the back, presumably sending him stumbling.

"Good. An unorthodox move. However...how could I entrust my daughter to someone still so weak? Come on, wolf. Show me your resolve!"

Grimm Studies

"And that's why it's your job to reign me in, Alfred. I'll be counting on you, my knight." Alexia replied pleasantly, gently smiling at him.

"Indeed! This test is merely an early examination! To beat the pride out of anyone who refuses teamwork!" said Port, nodding enthusiastically.

The flame beast was stabbed right in the eyes. Blinded, it thrashed harder than ever, finally getting free of its captors but leaving behind a chunk of its tail on the floor.

Jack looked at the fight. "I don't think this is making them any more humble." He said.,

Flashback: After Dinner Duel

Remus took the stumble and rolled forward as he activated his semblance, spun around and...

Hurled his left sword at his opponent with deadly accuracy, a large spinning projectile with the precision of a sniper rifle round. Remus then leaped high into the air and shot several rounds down at Charlotte before landing on the opposite side and catching his blade if Charlotte dodged it.

"Rufus..." Ayers grinned at the stump of the Feurwhatever's tail. His fingers twitched. But... he remembered the Style rating—no repeat performances here. "We got access past the hide. I'm gonna hold it still." He nodded to Cara and Hope. "Cut it up." He then charged after the beast, trying to simply body-block it and hold it in place like a football player.

Fire SCAR

Rufus charged for the face again, working one end while Ayer had the other. Perhaps, even in his snarling state he took into account style. Or perhaps in his snarling state, he realized he was out of eyes to stab. Either way, he launched for the face again and this time, with vorpal sword as a crowbar, hand in there as well, he tried prying open the beast's mouth.

Grimm Studies

"But they do seem to be working well together overall," Pius commented to Jack. He could see the reasoning behind Port's methods, but he still felt like a full-team exercise would have sufficed as well.

Then again, I haven't even finished compiling the duo formations yet. He reminded himself.

(Flashback) Workshop C

Ai went redder in the face.

"Sh-shut up!" she said.

She stepped out of the room and shut the door behind her.

SLSH

"If we get it in the air we can flip it over," said Ai, to Yun and Naima, "I've got an idea."

Ai placed her hand on Charisse's shoulder.

"We need to get it to hang on the ceiling. Then we can cut its tail and make it fall down. Until then, we don't attack the tail. I'll be the bait," she said.

"Everyone agree?"

"With gusto." Hope spoke, revving up the chainsword. Now it was time to rip the Grimm apart and since now there was a spot exposed, she would make use of it.

The boosters strapped to Anima's back, earlier dormant, roared as the mechanism set them into motion, giving the heavy frame additional momentum as Hope swung the growling Mauler right at Feuerkiefer's exposed side, hoping to, well, maul it. Regardless of the outcome she would turn right around, deactivating the boosters to regain control and face the Grimm again from the other side.

"Sounds good. I can finish it off." Charisse replied, grinning and spinning her bident around in both of her hands, then locking it behind her right arm.

That could be her chance, the chance to reveal the special move she had made just a few seconds ago.

"Get ready to attack, Charisse and Naima. And you get ready to shoot the tail, Yun," said Ai.

She fired her yo-yo straight up at the ceiling and reeled herself into the air. Using claw mode and her new boots, Ai clung to the ceiling. She shot her other yo-yo down at the Shockworm's head. She had no real intention to do any damage yet; she only wanted its attention.

"Hey, ugly! Come get me!"
