Projection, people. And he seems to have the megaphone on the issue of seriousness, so he's trying to discredit us.
Hopefully I'll feel confident to change my avatar off this scumbag soon. Apologies to any scumbags I insulted.Just discovered that this thread was a thing. Anything essentially important that I should know about the state of net neutrality in the wake of the FCC ruling? The most recent thing I know is that there was a plan for a multi-state lawsuit, or something like that.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Pretty sure the US Senate is going to have a vote in the next bit to determine if the recent change to net neutrality is going to be upheld or slapped down. Also, the guy in charge of the anti-net neutrality crusade has done some super sketchy and amoral stuff.
Fight for the Future tells me Rep. Marsha Blackburn recently introduced a bill that would essentially make Net Neutrality Deader than Dead.
From Gizmodo:
[...]
The Internet Association, a coalition that includes Amazon, Google, Microsoft, and other companies, opposed the bill as well. “The proposal circulated today does not meet the criteria for basic net neutrality protections,” it said in a statement, although it commended Blackburn for “moving the conversation forward.” The statement specifically condemns paid prioritization, and says that “real net neutrality legislation should be bipartisan and have input from other stakeholders, including the user community, public interest groups, and industry.” US telecom groups and carriers have not comprehensively weighed in on this bill, but they’ve previously supported limited “open internet” legislation.

It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.Let's see if that goes anywhere.
I don't doubt it will; every step in the FCC and GOP's plan to end net neutrality has been successful so far.
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.Yeah, but some of them are starting to show signs of backpedaling now. I think the heat is getting to a few of them. And we dont need very many to change their vote.
It might help, with that bill at least, that the IS Ps are ludicrously unpopular, and have a history of fighting for exactly what they want over a compromise of some sort. I doubt they like this bill, because it means they can’t throttle or block at a whim to extort more money out of other companies. It would kind of prevent exactly what they want to do.
I might be a bit too optimistic, but the potential lack of support from the IS Ps combined with how many people just outright hate them might kill it.
Not Three Laws compliant.I'm fairly certain that the Republican NN bill is that ISP-drafted bill most news sites were saying would come when NN was repealed, which probably means that it has their support.
On the other hand, I have my doubts it'll get through Congress. If this bill needs more than a simple majority to get passed (I'll admit I'm not sure what decides if a bill needs more than a simple majority), then it's dead in the water already. If a simple majority is all it needs then it won't take many dissenters to kill it.
Icon by Civvi the Civilian! Also, doing NN in during a midterm year is probably really stupid. Then again, they've also got their sights set on the Affordable Care Act, and even Medicaid as well, so the Republicans may have just realized that they are done come November and are out to fill their pockets before bailing out.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects. When has that stopped the GOP before?
They have never done anything this extreme before. Even the "Contract With America" (Republican reform platform of the 1994 elections) had more public support than this.
We can hope people will finally pay attention to the NN issue again soon, otherwise we've been doomed by our ignorance.
Pantheon server for all who click here. Freaking lost $410 and I am hunting down for a nuke to reign down. How about waiting for the lawsuits to take hold before we start talking about doom, hmm?
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference. You're both right,. We need to wait for the lawsuits to unfold, but we also need to keep the issue in people's minds.

Hopefully I'll feel confident to change my avatar off this scumbag soon. Apologies to any scumbags I insulted.Don't want the FCC thinking they could get away with this because the issue isn't trending
Pantheon server for all who click here. Freaking lost $410 and I am hunting down for a nuke to reign down. The FCC is blocking an investigation into net neutrality comment fraud.
Pai is a caricature at this point.
Hopefully I'll feel confident to change my avatar off this scumbag soon. Apologies to any scumbags I insulted. He's basically Trump but more malicious
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order. How is this legal?
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.By all means, it shouldn't be.
Hopefully I'll feel confident to change my avatar off this scumbag soon. Apologies to any scumbags I insulted. So what else can we do without resorting to extralegal activities?
That article's old news, btw - it's from the 12th.
Not saying it's irrelevant, mind you, but it might be somewhat outdated.
Oh God! Natural light!Would you believe I literally didn't see the date until you pointed that out just now because it was too pale?
Hopefully I'll feel confident to change my avatar off this scumbag soon. Apologies to any scumbags I insulted.I'd like to see The Daily Show or Colbert or another late night talk show host get a hold of this story and get the word out that these jokers are amoral, criminal liars.
How exactly are people for Net Neutrality not taking it seriously, when he's the one who's main support for his agenda is Naruto and Ash Ketchum?
