The ability to pump out units at a cheaper cost at the expense of diminished stats. Given the Advance Wars encourages a Zerg Rush against your enemies (not that Kanbei's opposite philosophy was ineffective either)...

I tend to go with his Gold Rush ability to increase an already large hoard of money in order to build even more units.

We've seen Olaf with his Ushanka and coat as opposed to his peaked cap and simple getup. I reckon they'll be using the Advance Wars 2 designs.

This might be what tips the scales for me buying a Nintendo Switch: it's the perfect game for gradually playing on the go over long periods.

Heck, I'm surprised nobody's tried replicating this formula for the Smartphone market: it's not like the Advance Wars games were ever graphically-intensive anyways, and turn based games will play just fine on the go since there's no urgency or need to continuously play (unless it's against another player, of course).

Yeah, but mobile games are designed to make money through nickel-and-diming you while locking gameplay behind time gates. No money to be made by making an actual game.

If you thought the remakes looked like a WayForward game, guess what: it kinda is.

And man, i got all nostalgic listening to Sami's theme in the trailer.

The Tree House demo looks fun.

To be fair, the smiley face has been used by people being jerks before, so its presence doesn't necessarily mean the poster is posting in good fun.

Personally, I find Humor Mode to be a better indicator of when someone is fooling around as opposed to being a jackass.

I just thought the very idea of buying from Nintendo in order to spite Nintendo would be evidence of it being a joke.

Maaan, that run of Sami's theme in the trailer hit me right in the childhood.

I think this was my biggest hype thing in the direct. Not for nothing: the direct was absolutely fantastic, but most of the other great things were things we already knew were happening. Kazuya is a close second, and I'm definitely hype for Tony Hawk and WarioWare's glorious returns, but nobody saw this coming.

I totally have to finish Wargroove before it releases.

Good luck with finishing that because like 2 it starts easy then gets hard fast. And I think a lot of online guides might be out of date because the maker balanced patched the crap out of the game when the expansion came out, and that's harder.

As for the game, if I had a switch, instant buy. I played the ever loving crap out of 2, Duel Strike, and Days of Ruin. Kind of Wish the tree house previewed 2 because I want to see how Super CO powers are animated.

IIRC I was just over halfway through when I drifted to something else, so I should be fine.

I wonder if they'll incorporate some of 2's mechanics into the first campaign. They already did so with the character designs.

Wonder how they'll handle the hard difficulty of the campaigns as well. I hear 1's was an absolute nightmare, and I barely managed to finish a single hard mission in 2, and that's said to be easier. I hope they'll have a separate New Game Plus mode that's akin to Dual Strike's hard mode which is more like New Game Plus than a difficult version of the campaign.

I remember having a pretty good time finishing the Hard Campaign of 2.

It's one of the very few hard modes I've ever played really. I'm feeling a bit nostalgic for it now, nowadays I'd probably just use a guide if I did it and got stuck, but back then I just kept trying out new strategies until one worked.

I imagine they'll definitely update the AI in AW 1, because I've heard its very broken with things like the APC trick being very exploitable.

AAAAAAAND I guess I'm buying a Nintendo Switch now, dammit. Between this, Smash Bros, and Monster Hunter: Rise, it's high time I made the plunge.

...Unless they're planning a PC release... did anybody hear anything about that?

I'm going back to my favorite entry, Days of Ruin. It's good to play a familiar game again.

Wow, the battle graphics are just as ugly as I remembered. The map sprites are better, if a bit dull.

In light of the news, I decided to go back and try finishing the campaign on Days of Ruin. I finally managed to get through Chapter 23. It took me 35 days and I had to resort to just crushing every last enemy unit. Surprisingly, I managed to get A-rank.
