That seems somewhat legit, Cyrax's alt revealed his human identity as a black guy which by MK 9 is pretty solidly canon, even making him Motswana) so I could accept the old timeline just making them optional. But I think with how confusing the situation with Jax's arms was, they had to have the scene with Ermac in MK 9 for some sort of clarity.
I'm quite confident in my shitposting you knowFound something from Mortal Kombat 3 to corrobarate the cybernetic implants being optional for Jax:
https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/mkwikia/images/6/64/MK3bio.gif/revision/latest?cb=20110822005928
For those who can't read it:
In failing to convince his superiors of the coming Outworld invasion, Jax covertly prepares for the future battle with Kahn's minions. He outfits both arms with indestructible bionic implants. This is a war Jax is prepared to win
Understandably they tried to get away from portrayals in Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, particularly the arms being part of a Be Yourself aesop.

There's some dialogue in 9 suggesting that the changes to the timeline made them part of his body rather than just detachable armor for his arms.
Somewhat related, was there ever any explanation as to how Kano lost his eye before MK: Legacy?
The second movie made it clear that Jax's bio arms were completely intact. Say what you will about MK: Annihilation, but it was very true to the source material.
Eeeh, not that faithful.
To name a few Ermac had Noob Saibot as his shadow ability & didn't display telekinetic powers, Raiden, Shao, & Shinnok were related, & Jade was evil.
On why 9 had Jax's arms ripped from him by Ermac, personally I think it was because of the time-meddling Shinnok and Quan Chi did.
Yea, Jax even lampshades the possibility back in MK 9
I always liked that detail. Really screws with you - "did my arms really get severed before Lightning over here started messing with time?"
And none of them can confirm it for him.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Man, a new MK movie? I guess MK is popular again, can't blame them.
But the original was pretty much perfect as far as these things go.
Oh well.
I'm not really an MK fan anymore, anyway. Just revisit the older games for nostalgia. Still think Deception was the best of the old 3D games.
I wouldn't go as far as to say it's perfect even as an MK fan.
The cast doesn't really use their special moves enough, Goro was pretty anti-climatic, & I wasn't really expecting Shang Tsung to abuse his shape-shifting powers but he could've at least mimic other character's powers.
But by far the worst offender is how the Ninja being reduced to henchmen. While it is depressingly true for Noob-Saibot & Reptiles these days, Scorpion really got the short end of the stick. The movie is why so many people thought Scorpion was a villain & an antagonist for the longest time.
Scorpion being demoted into a mook there makes it rather hilarious that the series first full animated film basically has him as the main character.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Being blunt here, I still find Scorpion's Revenge a better MK movie than 1st one. Granted, it took over 2 decades for that to finally happen.
For a while scorpion was reduce to that in outside mateiral as conquest, the malibo komics and other and even in the game he was very use to fight the heroes, it took FINALLY on MKX and MK 11 to be a hero.....
and them they kill him off.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"I joked about Rambo as DLC, did my Joke come true?
A while ago yeah
See him in action here: https://youtu.be/u27i41xo0kI

Thanks, I only just found out by way of Youtube suggestion.
He was added with Rain and Mileena in, I think, November.
Man, the writers for Rambo's ending really nailed the character. That is exactly what he would do if he was given unlimited power. Especially the original First Blood era Rambo. I don't know what he's like in the other movies. Mind you, I think somebody does need to tend to the hourglass to keep time from breaking, so I hope he found a suitable replacement.

If Capcom finally allowed a Street Fighter as guest fighter in a Mortal Kombat game, who do you think it would be.
What character do you think they would be comfortable killing and being killed?
The only one that comes to mind to me is Bison.
"They truly were a Aqua Teen Hunger Force"Vega, mostly because his claw fits well in an MK game. He also has the Ax-Crazy personality.

Is the lack of gore and blood a detriment to the first MK movie? I don't think it was but a lot people seem to view it that way from what I've learned.
On the one hand not really. On the other hand the new movie already looks better because it has more gore. At the time the first movie was made I think it was more of a budgetary limitation than a moral or industrial one. Principally I'd disagree with any MK movie that toned down the gore, but the original was still pretty decent for its time.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).
If Jax's alternate costume in Deadly Alliance, Deception/Unchained, and Armageddon is of any indication, he didn't.
