On the other hand, someone on tvt character page theorizes that he brainwashed Guila into loving him as result of going out of control due to being too long without that armor Merlin made for him <_< If that person's theory is true, I guess that gives support for him being incubi of some kind

I think it's interesting that a lot of named characters are named after the fathers of the Knights of the Round table, kings and predecessors before Arthur (Ban being the father of Lancelot and Meliodas being the father of Tristan).

Yeah, skipping it would make Ban and King's character arcs nonsensical. Good they left it.
