Maybe everybody got soul-transported to the past?
Signatures are for lamers. So Wikipedia had this to say.
Sounds like what they originally planned to do post-Armageddon. The purpose of Armageddon was to kill off the entire cast in order to start fresh with a predominately new story with new characters and minimal ties to the plot that came before, with the occasional exception of guest characters like Scorpion.
It's looking like 2011's cast-massacre (castacre?) is going to serve that same purpose.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.I just want to see Havik again.
Also Scorpion was the biggest whipping boy in the old continuity. Well, apart from Reptile. But being less of a bitch than Reptile isn't saying much.

If we are losing characters, I hope we keep most of the ninjas. The likes of Reptile, Smoke and Rain are too fun to lose.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireI'm pretty sure we're not "losing characters" so much as "picking a few characters to keep".
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Well, hot-diggedy damn. Shame it's only got PS written all over it right now, but damn, new MK. Implying some environment interaction like Injustice is nice and all.
Still, if they really did kill off all those characters and it's gonna stick... well. I'm just remembering that aside from a Darkhorse or three, the post-MK 3 cast is widely not loved. I hope they can do it better this time if they do and it'll be a shame to lose a lot of them too.
Curse the ill fortune that led you to me.Picking characters to keep means losing the others. That's just phrasing it differently.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireI think we'll keep the main 3 Ninjas(well, so to speak on that term? Apparently not everybody considers Sub-Zero after he left the Lin Kuei to be a ninja? But eh, semantics), being Reptile, Scorpion, and Sub-Zero throughout most of the games.
I can't say for other ones. I mean, I like the others too, including the Cyber Ninjas. I'd like to keep the regular 3 Cyber Ninjas, but if this is a direct sequel to 9's story, so I don't expect Cyber Smoke to reappear(outside of a bonus character, like Human Smoke previously was outside of 9). Who knows, though.
...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol.I know this is a bit of a knee-jerk reaction (so take it with a grain of salt), but the way that's phrased (plus my suspicions that the dead characters might stay dead) seemes like they're going to make a new cast with cameos from the old.
Of course, that's baseless speculation centered around the fear that a thing I like will lose a large portion of the things I liked about it.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireThat's not out of the blue. 9's reboot did some of that.
Also, I like that they put in a female grey ninja as a reference to Khameleon in there as well. Everybody else was updated to their latest look, so it couldn't have been the real Khameleon realistically. It was still neat, though.
I wouldn't mind if Chameleon showed up, though. Maybe as the 4th human Ninja. Speaking of, I wouldn't mind a Chameleon-based character for the Cyber Ninjas for once.
...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol.Cyber-Chameleon and Khameleon or vice-versa would be neat.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireAin't Sub Zero a cyborg now?
Yes, but he's also dead. Fixing that is easier than fixing "cyborg", because you don't take cybernetic modifications with you when you die.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Isn't Sub-Zero still Cyber in the Story Mode of 9 when you play as Raiden against the warriors that had their soul sold to Quan Chi or something like that though?
Two things:
1. Kitana or Sonya had better be in.
2. This game better be on the Xbox 360.
"Marth likes just the tip, Lucina likes the whole thing."They've already announced the platforms. It's cross-gen, without Nintendo (typical).
And seeing as Sonya was one of like, four people who survived MK9, I'm going to say her odds are pretty good.
So... Vengeful Zombie Liu Kang, anyone?
Also, I wanna see Shujinko. I know everyone hates him, but I want to see him anyway and find out what became of his plot (since as far as we know he still spent his life unwittingly following Onaga - he should be in Orderrealm at this point, right?). Him and Bo Rai Cho, since being a Gass Hole aside I like the guy. And seconding wanting to see Havik again.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I actually like all 5 characters mentioned above. I wouldn't mind seeing them at all. Shujinko was one of the closest characters besides Khameleon/Chameleon to really use moves from other characters as an actual gimmick. While characters like Smoke stole some moves, the other 3 were at least done that way on purpose. I like it.
Albeit, Armageddon perfected the Chameleon/Khameleon pair by actually giving them a full moveset(much like Shujinko does). Albeit, gameplay issues aside from that game, the actual ideal moveset should be based around that. I also liked it confirmed Tanya being a ninja lady like Kitana, Mileena, and Jade as well.
...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol.I strongly doubt we will ever see Shujinko again in a non-joke capacity.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.The trailer was somewhat disappointing, if only because you aren't quite sure what they are trying to sell. Is it another Mortal Kombat game, a new tv series or just an animation test some people played with?
What sort of disappointed me at first was that if it was a fully cinematic trailer, the fight was painfully simplistic because it looked a lot like a regular match on a single plane rather than an epic battle like the Batman/Deathstroke fight from the Batman: Arkham Origins cinematic trailer. If it is supposed to represent the in-game fights, how will the intricate grapples be plausible as a player?
But it is meant as a bit of hype for E3, so maybe they have some real tricks up their sleeves.
So here's what I've gathered from some recent tweets from Boon:
- It is officially pronounced "Mortal Kombat Ex"
- When asked if the story will continue from MK 9 or be a new original story, he responded with "sort of both… hard to explain"
- We'll see at least 2 new characters at E3
- He keeps saying Scorpion's 2nd fatality will make people flip their shit.
I don't understand the confusion. It looked very much like a pumped-up version of a typical fight. It showed basic combos, specials, grabs, x-rays and a fatality. It was also followed by the title indicating it as the tenth game.
I'm not sure how much shit flipping a fatality could really cause.

Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireI agree with seeing Shujinko again as, out of the three M Cs in MK, he was the only one who was interesting.
Plus nothing can be more shameful than MK 9 Liu Kang. That death...
I wouldn't hold my breath on seeing Shujinko or Onaga though. Shinnok kinda got a pass as he was at the start of 3D MK, back before it really got the hatedom. But as awesome as Deception was, it has a negative reputation in the fandom I think and so its story will probably be completely ignored.

I know the trailer isn't gameplay at all, but I think it's interesting how the trailer shows Sub-Zero vaulting himself at Scorpion by swinging around a branch, and ripping another branch off of a tree to hit Scorpion with. I think this may imply that we'll be getting Injustice-like stage interaction in the actual game.
You guys like Let's Plays? You guys like shameless plugs? Well, come on down!
We don't know what actually happens Post-Soulnado. Torn apart can go into a bunch of other things. Idk.
