In an aggressive way, yeah, happens pretty much everywhere when facing criticism from the outside. But in Japan, there also seems to be a "passive-aggressive" way, as in feigning ignorance and treating stuff like it was just a culture shock. Sorta like expecting us to give a free pass to them the same way they do when we make a gaffe as tourists. The point being, of course, that we're Not So Different and this is just an excuse.

On another subject, and this may have been brought up in this thread already, but I've been watching some of the videos on That Japanese Man Yuta's Youtube channel, because it's fascinating to get impromptu interviews with random people on the streets about geeky subjects.
One of the videos asked people if they watch American cartoons. Most of the participants said they mostly stuck to their own country's animation but a recurring American cartoon that many admitted to watching was The Simpsons. That's not the surprising part- it's a popular cartoon around the globe- but what is surprising is how many liked the show because of its "dark humor".
The Simpsons? Dark humor? Maybe back in the early to mid 90s when it was in a class by itself and its humor style was nothing like anything else on TV, but nowadays? It's been surpassed many many times over. I personally haven't used that phrase to describe the show in many a moon.
Anyway, just found it interesting.
All the jokes about nuclear energy may seem darker to the Japanese.
I mean, have you looked at their comedy shows (not really counting anime)? The Simpsons would still stand out among what they usually have.

An investigation into a suicide case by a Mitsubishi Electric employee was fully confirmed to be related to his work aka power harrasment in 2019 by the Amagasaki Labor Standards Inspection Office in Hyogo Prefecture.
ME officials said that they accept the findings that it happened under Takeshi Sugiyama's watch, who is the company president.
Got this link from my sister (I'm taking her word for the Japanese translation): Shizuoka is installing plastic scale model-themed monuments to celebrate its status as the capital of the world's scale model industry (being home to Tamiya and Bandai, among others).
Echoing hymn of my fellow passerine | Art blog (under construction)And the Imperial Family issues are back again.
Man if only there was a simple solution for this, one that involved half of the people to ever be born.
No idea what it could be, but I am sure you could more then double the amount of people with it.
Perhaps one that has actually been used historically even.
I always found it weird that whenever a female member of the royal family marries a commoner (i.e. all the time) she drops her royal title and also becomes a commoner. It's about time they change the succession rules.
Rock'n'roll never dies! For that, you'll have to convince the conservatives and the former Imperial branch families that the Allied Forces removed under McArthur's orders.
Someone should remind them that they're out of a job if there's no royal family left.
Unless that's what they're actually trying to achieve: to let the imperial family die out so that they can take over as Regent for Life.
And very rightly so. This is just bullshit. I wouldn't be surprised if violating personal dignity was a deliberate objective in order to instill discipline.
I'd also suggest that they're just too stubborn and proud of their lineage (at least for the ex-branch families). One of the conservative politicians said he's hate to see one of the princesses when she's of marrying age to get together with a non-Japanese guy.
ccorb said nothing about the Japanese royal family.
I think Ominae got 'd

Idle question: does Japan, generally, differentiate between the different denominations of Christianity such as Catholicism, Protestantism, and Orthodox Christianity?
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position. What do you mean?
Honestly Christianity isn't even thought that much about except when its making cults, or when its having its aesthetics copied for whatever reason... Christians make up 1% of the population so its... just not your average persons concern.
Does your average American concern themselfs with the various forms of Buddhism? Because its kind of the same situation.
In turns of pop culture... not really. In day to day life... not sure.
Sounds a bit like Americans.
